Is “Grey’s Anatomy” on tonight? Yes. ABC’s long-running medical drama airs its 427th episode, titled “She Used to Be Mine,” on Thursday night. Here is the official synopsis: “An unexpectedly complex case brings back painful memories for Simone. Jules and Blue make a high-stakes bet on who can finish their procedure log first. Richard suspects Winston is avoiding him.” Watch the promo video above for Season 20 Episode 7, and read on for everything to know about “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Note that the new season was delayed until mid-season due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes of 2023. Because of the late start, the 20th season will be the shortest since the first season with only 10 episodes total. Behind the scenes, Meg Marinis has taken over as showrunner from Krista Vernoff, who departed after Season 19.

Welcome back, Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw)! Arizona returns to her former place of employment in the April 4 episode, “Baby Can I Hold You,” of Grey’s Anatomy, and until now, all we knew was that she was back for something history-making and, from the logline, that it’s a “particularly complicated case.” Now, the promo, which you can watch above, shows her joining Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) in front of a room full of doctors, including the interns. “A few months ago, I started a clinical trial in which we operate on the baby’s brain before delivery,” Arizona reveals. This has never been done before, “so who wants to make history?” she asks. Also coming up in this episode, the interns are interrogated about their past mistakes, including Dr. Teddy Altman’s (Kim Raver) collapse, as you can see in the video. Is Dr. Lucas Adams (Niko Terho...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 Episode 1 “We’ve Only Just Begun.”] Dr. Teddy Altman’s (Kim Raver) fate was left hanging in the balance at the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 19. For 10 months, fans waited anxiously for an update about Teddy. Would she make it out of this medical emergency unscathed or r suffer the same fate as many Grey Sloan doctors before her? The March 14 Season 20 premiere of the hit ABC series answered that question quickly. Teddy went into V-fib but was able to be resuscitated. In the Season 19 finale, Teddy collapsed in the middle of surgery after complaining all day of a toothache. She was unresponsive, so Dr. Lucas Adams (Niko Terho) and Dr. Simone Griffiths (Alexis Floyd) had to try and save their patient without an attending. But she wasn’t out of the woods yet. An echo revealed she had bacterial endocarditis, which was caused by the dental infection.

Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 20 premiere.
“Grey’s Anatomy” hit the reset button in the aftermath of its traumatic Season 19 finale, including the exit of one of their own. By the end of the Season 20 premiere, Dr. Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) announced he’d be leaving Grey Sloan Memorial to reunite with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) at her new home in Boston.
His last move as residency director was passing the torch to the now Catherine Fox award-winning Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), effectively bringing the series back to basics with her taking charge of teaching the hospital’s latest class of interns.
“I feel like if anyone can bring these interns back from what just happened, it’s the person who helped create doctors like Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang and Alex Karev,” showrunner Meg Marinis told TheWrap. “Bailey doesn’t always get the credit that she deserves.

Grey’s Anatomy continues to rewrite the TV history books, extending its record as the longest-running primetime medical drama with the upcoming landmark 20th season, which premieres this Thursday, March 14.
This also marks the first season of Meg Marinis, an 18-year Grey’s Anatomy veteran, as the series’ showrunner. And she is not planning it as the drama’s final chapter.
“I’ve not been informed that this is the last season so I’m going to keep going and telling stories as long as they let me,” she told Deadline in an interview tied to the Season 20 premiere. “We still have stories to tell. We receive a tremendous amount of support from the studio and the network and from Shondaland. So I’m going to keep going until they tell me to put that pen down.”
Created by Shonda Rhimes, Grey’s Anatomy comes from Rhimes’ Shondaland and ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.

She’s baaack! Ellen Pompeo‘s on-screen status as Meredith Grey in the upcoming 20th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” has remained a mystery … up until now. It’s hard to believe Grey’s Anatomy has been on the air for almost 20 years.
As a midseason replacement back in 2005, the show wasn’t expected to break out in the way it has done.
Despite big casting shake-ups, it remains one of ABC’s most popular dramas and will likely be on the air for countless more years.
With Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 just around the corner, it’s time to take a look at everything we know about the milestone season.
We even have an update on Ellen Pompeo’s return as Meredith Grey.
Get all the details below.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 20: when will it premiere?
The medical drama will return from an extended hiatus on Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c.
Unlike previous years, it will air out of 9-1-1, which is moving from Fox.

When news emerged that Grey's Anatomy Season 20 production was underway, there was a big question mark over Ellen Pompeo's name.
After departing as a series regular during Grey's Anatomy Season 19, Meredith Grey returned with professional and personal breakthroughs later that season.
Her story was seemingly at its end, but Pompeo had been adamant about coming back here and there following her exit.
And it seems she still has a soft spot for Meredith and her former colleagues because she's lined up more than one appearance in the upcoming season.
The news came courtesy of costar and director Debbie Allen, who was asked by Entertainment Tonight about Pompeo's status on the call sheet.
"Miss Thing is there, honey," enthused Allen.
"She's in the first episode, and she's in the one I'm going to direct.

This is Day 86 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

We'll be old and gray before Grey's Anatomy ends!
Grey's Anatomy continues to make records and hold its own as a cultural juggernaut in the television landscape as it comes off 19 seasons on the air.
And while there has been a revolving door cast over the past nearly two decades, including the titular main character, Meredith Grey herself, it shows no signs of slowing down.
One of the most exciting aspects of Grey's Anatomy Season 19 is how the series found a way to reinvent itself.
It served as a reboot within the series, and the show pulled it off remarkably well with a fresh batch of interns who have already made their mark and feel like the next generation of this series.
No one could've anticipated that a new version of Og "M.A.G.I.C" conveniently, also "M.A.G.Yk" could bring back the familiar vibes of Grey's Anatomy's heyday,...

With the conclusion of Grey's Anatomy Season 19, there's a big question about which cast members will return for Grey's Anatomy Season 20.
Thankfully, we have some answers.
Deadline revealed Thursday evening that James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson will be back as Richard and Bailey, respectively.
The move means they will become the longest-serving series regulars as they are the only two remaining cast members who have been with the medical drama since the start.
Kevin McKidd, who joined the cast during Grey's Anatomy Season 5, will return as Owen.
Kim Raver, who first appeared on Grey's Anatomy Season 6 and returned in Season 14 after a five-year break, will return as Teddy.
The Raver news being revealed months before production is set to get underway, given that Grey's Anatomy Season 19 Episode 20 concluded with Teddy's life on the line after collapsing.
It's rare for these cliffhangers to be spoiled in advance, but maybe ABC...

The two-hour Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 finale had it all: a wedding, a near-plane crash, a long-overdue award, kisses aplenty, and a doctor collapsing in the O.R. Oh, and Ellen Pompeo and Kelly McCreary come back to the show for guest appearances… [Warning: The below contains major spoilers for the two-part Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 finale, Episodes 19 and 20, “Wedding Bell Blues” and “Happily Ever After?”] As the episode starts, Griffith (Alexis Floyd) is getting ready for her wedding. Yes, despite Lucas’ best efforts to “speak now” last episode — you know, else he forever hold his peace — Griffith still intends on marrying Trey (William Martinez). “I can’t deny that we have a connection,” she tells Adams (Niko Terho) in this episode. “But Trey does love me. And I think what he and I built together deserves this chance. And I don’t want to hurt you, and I don’t want to lose you from my life. But I’...

[This story contains spoilers to the season 19 two-episode finale of Grey’s Anatomy, “Wedding Bell Blues/Happily Ever After.”]
The two-hour conclusion to Grey’s Anatomy’s 19th season welcomed back two of its recently departed doctors, and left another character’s fate up in the air.
After exiting the hit ABC medical drama as a series regular earlier in the season, Ellen Pompeo made her anticipated return during the May 18 two-part finale, “Wedding Bell Blues/Happily Ever After.” The episode split its time between the veteran cast and the younger batch of interns, with the main storyline centering around Simone’s (Alexis Floy) wedding day and the young doctor ultimately calling off her nuptials and choosing Lucas (Niko Terho). With the wedding as the backdrop, love was in the air for many of the characters — including Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Link (Chris Carmack), who finally vocalized their love for one another.

That sometimes stretches into the summer but this time, deals have wrapped relatively quickly, with all longtime fan favorites set to return as series regulars for Grey’s Anatomy‘s landmark 20th season.
That includes the last two remaining original cast members James Pickens Jr., who plays Richard and Chandra Wilson (Bailey) as well as Kevin McKidd (Owen), who has been on the show since Season 5, Kim Raver (Teddy), who started in Season 6 and then rejoined in Season 14 after a five-year break, Camilla Luddington (Jo), a cast member since Season 9, and Caterina Scorsone (Amelia), who joined in Season 10 after guest starring appearances. Dr. Maggie Pierce treated her last patient at Grey Sloan Memorial Thursday, after nine seasons as a core member of the “Grey’s Anatomy” cast.
For Kelly McCreary, the actress behind the talented cardiothoracic surgeon and Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) half-sister, the ABC medical drama’s two-hour farewell gave her the perfect vehicle to honor Maggie’s journey, and to close a major chapter in her own life and career.
“It meant a lot to me,” McCreary told TheWrap about the episodes. “When I spoke to Krista [Vernoff, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ showrunner and executive producer], after she agreed to let Maggie go, I said it’d be very nice to be able to have scenes that feel like closure with all of the characters that have meant something to Maggie … my homies, my family that I’ve been doing this with for such a long time.”

After almost two decades of healing wounds, both physical and romantic, the staff of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is still going strong.
Despite the onscreen departure of series star Ellen Pompeo, Grey’s Anatomy has already been picked up for its 20th season, meaning fans had plenty to celebrate at the show’s PaleyFest panel, held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday.
Krista Vernoff — who will depart as showrunner after the 19th season — was joined onstage by 15 members of the current ensemble cast, including Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Kelly McCreary, Kim Raver, Jake Borelli, Chris Carmack, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr. Adelaide Kane, Midori Francis and Niko Terho.
The audience unleashed raucous applause as soon as moderator (and original castmember) T.R. Knight appeared, and they only grew louder as series stalwarts such as Wilson and Pickens took to the stage.

Today is a beautiful day to find out which of Grey’s Anatomy‘s new surgical residents you are. Although fans have already been trying to make the M.A.G.I.C connection between these two sets of characters, there’s no denying that these new interns have kicked off the season with a fresh new start. There’s Mika, whose sense of humor sometimes gets her in trouble, and Blue, who is competitive to a fault. Lucas is considered the “black sheep” of his family, and Jules isn’t afraid to break the rules in order to do what’s right. And let’s not forget Simone, ...

Grey’s Anatomy continues to write TV history with a renewal for a landmark 20th season, extending its record as the longest-running primetime medical drama. Along with the pickup, which was fully expected, ABC also confirmed Deadline’s report that Meg Marinis will serve as showrunner for Season 20. She replaces longtime Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner Krista Vernoff, who is leaving both series at the end of this season.

“Grey’s Anatomy” has been renewed for Season 20 at ABC.
With the renewal, the series continues its run as the longest running primetime medical drama in TV history. In addition, series executive producer Meg Marinis will serve as showrunner on Season 20. Marinis takes over from Krista Vernoff, who was reported to be stepping down from “Grey’s Anatomy” and its spinoff “Station 19” back in January.
The Season 19 finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” will air on May 18. The show has seen a number of exits this season, most notably Vernoff and Kelly McCreary (who’s played Dr. Maggie Pierce for nine seasons) — and series lead Ellen Pompeo, kind of. Pompeo has been with the show since it debuted, but in the Feb. 23 episode, her character Meredith Grey moved from Seattle to Boston. She will continue to provide the voiceover at the beginning and end of each episodes, and she’ll also appear on the finale.

“Grey’s Anatomy” went through one of its biggest changes ever after Ellen Pompeo’s final episode as a series regular, which aired in February. Still, longtime cast member Jake Borelli says working on the long-running ABC medical drama feels like business as usual.
The actor, whose Dr. Levi Schmitt first appeared on the series in Season 14 and then became a series regular the following season, said that the show’s 19th season worked as a rebirth of sorts for “Grey’s.” The series introduced a new class of interns — headlined by Dr. Simone Griffin (Alexis Floyd), Dr. Lucas Adams (Niko Terho), Dr. Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis) and Dr. Benson Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.) — and Levi is now in charge of teaching and supervising them as chief resident.

Welcome to Grey’s Anatomy without Ellen Pompeo making rounds as Meredith Grey. Pompeo is down to guest-star status for now, after her character moved across the country last week. But at least we got Mer narrating the start of the ABC medical drama’s March 2 episode: Season 19, Episode 8, “All Star.” [Warning: The below contains major spoilers for the Grey’s Anatomy Season 19, Episode 8, “All Star.”] As the episode starts, Griffith (Alexis Floyd), Adams (Niko Terho), Yasuda (Midori Francis) are repainting Mer’s old house… and bickering over which of them gets Mer’s old bedroom! The interns have more pressing matters at hand, though, including the patients of the week. And speaking of “pressing,” one of those patients is a young man who took on one Seattle restaurant’s “Pho-nomenal Challenge” — eating 3 pounds of noodles, 3 pounds of meat, and 3 pounds of broth — and now can’t poop. Luckily for him, Yasuda helps him get things, ahem, moving again.

“Grey’s Anatomy,” which in last week’s episode said goodbye-ish to Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, will say hello to the actor William Martinez in the March 2 episode this week. In a recurring role, Martinez will make his debut as Trey, a character who’s an important figure from Simone’s (Alexis Floyd) past.
In last week’s episode, Simone, one of Season 19’s new class of surgical interns, entered into a situationship with Lucas (Niko Terho). Their courtship is complicated, though, by the fact that they’re now both living in Meredith’s old house, along with fellow intern Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis) — fixing it up after a fire nearly destroyed it. Trey will be coming along to make that incipient romance even knottier, presumably.
In the logline for this week’s episode, furnished by ABC, the Trey character is alluded to. “Teddy makes a challenging decision,” it reads.

Grey’s Anatomy is undergoing a change.
After nearly two decades and more than 400 episodes of leading the ABC medical drama, star Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey said goodbye to Grey Sloan Memorial for her family’s move to Boston in the season 19 winter premiere, “I’ll Follow the Sun.” The Feb. 23 episode marked Pompeo’s second-to-last appearance this season, with her next onscreen visit not coming until the season finale in May.
The moment brings about a series regular exit for Grey’s resident doctor, Meredith Grey, who has been played by Pompeo since the beloved Shonda Rhimes-created series first launched in 2005. And it begins to test whether Grey’s can succeed without its star.

The moment brings about a series regular exit for Grey’s resident doctor, Meredith Grey, who has been played by Pompeo since the beloved Shonda Rhimes-created series first launched in 2005. And it begins to test whether Grey’s can succeed without its star.

Meredith Grey performed her “last” surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital during the winter premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy” on Thursday. But Ellen Pompeo’s final episode as a series regular felt more like a “see you later,” leaving plenty of questions unanswered and the door open for her character’s return.
ABC promoted the episode, titled “I’ll Follow the Sun,” as Meredith’s big farewell to Seattle. Previews for the hour paid homage to the many traumatic moments, goodbyes, accomplishments and near-death experiences the doctor has procured across 19 seasons and over 400 episodes, but the hour itself played more like real life — with a dose of romantic comedy frustration.
The installment began as Meredith and her children arrived at the hospital for her last day on the job, in the aftermath of her longtime Seattle home sustaining damage in a fire. In a conversation with love interest Dr. Nick Marsh...

Since Grey’s Anatomy first premiered in 2005, it has aired 19 seasons, 406 episodes, and birthed 3 spinoffs. Naturally the show has had to adapt as cast members come and go throughout the years. This sometimes makes it hard to recall what exactly went on in season 1. Although who can forget Addison Montgomery (then Shepherd) saying the iconic line, “I’m Addison Shepherd … and you must be the woman who’s been screwing my husband.”
With every new intern class that Grey’s introduces viewers to, it always throws in a few Easter eggs to remind fans what made them fall in love with the show in the first place. However, it seems season 19 wanted to take this even further. Grey’s Anatomy season 19 launches a soft reboot that allows the series to ground itself in its season 1 roots. If the “begin again” tagline of the season 19 poster wasn’t a giveaway, season 19 throws back...

As the lead of Shonda Rhimes’ medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has been through a lot: The death of her mother from Alzheimer’s, being held at gunpoint, miscarriages, getting stranded in the woods for days after a plane crash that killed her sister, watching her husband dying in a car crash, nearly dying from Covid, and more and more tragedies than one can reasonably list.
Now, the character is (hopefully) moving on to greener, less traumatic pastures in the midseason premiere “I’ll Follow the Sun,” which sees her leave hospital/deathtrap Grey Sloan Memorial after 19 seasons. A teaser for the episode, which will premiere on February 23 on ABC, was released Wednesday out of the channel’s Television Critics Association winter press conference.
