Could “The Baby-Sitters Club” be making a comeback? The series was canceled by Netflix after two seasons earlier this year in March, and talk has swirled since about the series being shopped for a revival — or at least a TV movie — elsewhere.
But now there’s a bit more momentum for the show: “The Baby-Sitters Club” won two awards at the Children & Family Emmys this weekend, for both outstanding writing for a live action preschool or children’s program and outstanding children’s or family viewing series.
“We’re talking about it in a very preliminary way, talking about if we can bring it somewhere else. Or if we could do maybe like a movie, like kind of a wrap up special,” executive producer Rachel Shukert told Variety. “The girls obviously are older now than they were when we started and they’ve really grown up. So I think we...

One of the best shows of 2020 might not have made too many waves in the mainstream, but that didn’t stop it from garnering a tsunami of praise from both super-fans and TV critics alike. And now, the Netflix original has returned with a second season that might just be better than the first.

Momona Tamada is a star.
Her emotional portrayal as Claudia Kishi losing her beloved Mimi in The Baby-Sitters Club Season 2 Episode 7 proved her acting range.
It's painful losing a grandparent, but especially one you have lived with your entire life. Claudia wasn't prepared for that loss.
This incorporated many Japanese traditions beginning with how to prepare Japanese tea. It's important to pass on from generation to generation.
Mimi was teaching Claudia how to prepare the tea so she could carry on the tradition. Claudia didn't understand the significance of it yet, but Mimi must have known she was dying soon.
It was one of the last times the two of them had been drinking special tea, so Mimi wanted Claudia to learn everything, such as the importance of warming the cup first.
As a teenager, Claudia had been impatient that her sister interrupted their time and wondered why everything had to be a certain way.

The Baby-Sitters Club reboot hit Netflix on July 3, and we're already ready for more. Luckily for us, the series was renewed for season two on Wednesday, and it's set to premiere sometime in 2021.
While Netflix has yet to release any other details, we have a lot of hope for a renewal. In case you weren't aware, by the time The Baby-Sitters Club ceased publication in 2000, there were 213 books in the series. The first season is only 10 episodes long, with each focusing on one of the members of the titular club, which means there's a wealth of untapped potential Netflix can pull from. In fact, the cast of the new series - Sophie Grace (Kristy Thomas), Malia Baker (Mary Anne Spier), Shay Rudolph (Stacey McGill), Momona Tamada (Claudia Kishi), and Xochitl Gomez (Dawn Schafer) - spoke to Popsugar about some of the things they'd like to see in a future season.

“Doctor Strange” has been delayed multiple times due to the pandemic and is currently slated to debut on March 25, 2022. Before Cumberbatch graces the screen in another solo venture, he will appear next in the upcoming Tom Holland-led “Spider-Man” installment. The...

When Netflix announced The Baby-Sitters Club would premiere on July 3, we couldn't have been more thrilled. Although the 10-episode series has been updated from the '90s to the present in order to tackle modern-day issues, you can still expect the adventures from Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez) that you've grown to know and love.
The first season revolves around the creation of the titular club along with the trials and tribulations the girls face within their relationships with each other, boys, and their families. One of the best things about the books and the original 1995 film adaptation is just how strong the group's dynamic is, and it seems like the newest The Baby-Sitters Club stars have taken this to heart. The group of five spoke with Popsugar ahead of the premiere about their love of the books,...

Adapting any book to screen can be a complicated task, but when it is a book series that consists of more than 200 stories, the process seems that much more arduous. And that is exactly what Rachel Shukert, showrunner of Netflix’s “The Baby-Sitters Club,” was facing when she signed on to translate author Ann M. Martin’s classic coming-of-age franchise.
First published in 1986, “The Baby-Sitters Club” series of novels ranges from the original 131-book series about a group of teenage girls who started the titular baby-sitting club in their neighborhood to earn some extra money to subsequent spinoffs and special volumes that included almost 40 mystery titles, half a dozen in the single character “Portrait Collection” series, a turn-of-the-millennium “Friends Forever” subset, 15 “Super Special” aka super-sized novels, and a prequel. (Not to mention the graphic novels and “Little Sisters” spinoff that eventually followed.)
But because Shukert feels “the first 10 books in...

For readers of a certain age, at one point in our youth, there was absolutely nothing better than Ann M. Martin’s The Baby-Sitters Club. The books followed the story of a group of preteen girls who start a babysitting business together and while there are plenty of tales of unruly kids and overbearing parents, at its heart, this is a series about the bonds of female friendship. The Bsc is comprised of girls from a variety of backgrounds who all bring unique points-of-view to the group, but who support and uplift each other whenever possible.
Martin’s series, which is comprised of over one hundred and thirty books, plus ancillary supersized “Super Special” or “Mystery” editions, represented a first exposure to feminism and diversity for many young readers, and it sounds like the upcoming TV series of the same name will embrace that same progressive and inclusive spirit. And...

Millennials haven’t fully ceded their cultural prowess to the zoomers just yet, although their younger counterparts may be too politically engaged to have time to binge watch “Breaking Bad” for a fourth time. Not only has the millennial penchant for nostalgia-watching kept cultural touchstones like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Wet Hot American Summer” alive in the cultural conversation, but it also continues to influence the kinds of newer projects that get made. That explains Disney’s live-action remakes of “The Lion King” and “Mulan,” but also shows like “BH90210” and “Fuller House.”

Netflix is moving full steam ahead with a reboot of The Baby-Sitters Club.
The streamer has revealed that Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) will lead the cast of the live-action series, which is based on Ann M. Martin's best-selling book series.
In the series adaptation, Silverstone will take on the role of Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, the mother of Kristy Thomas and the love interest of Watson Brewer, played by Feuerstein.
The Baby-Sitters Club is an original contemporary series that will follow the friendship and babysitting adventures of five best friends -Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer - in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.
Production has already kicked off in Vancouver, so we should probably expect the rest of the casting news to drop in the coming days.

The Baby-Sitters Club live-action adaptation will consist of 10 episodes, and has already begun production.
Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feuerstein have joined the cast of Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club adaptation, which has already begun filming in Vancouver. Silverstone will play Kristy's mother, Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, while Feuerstrin will play her love interest, Watson Brewer.
This is more parental focus than I ever remember from The Baby-Sitters Club books (though Elizabeth and Watson are totally characters), which tended to focus pretty exclusively on the five best friends in the eponymous Baby-Sitters Club: Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer. In the books, the girls all live in Stoneybrook, Connecticut, and decide to start a club to make some money. The books are about their babysitting adventures, as well as their friendships and lives outside of their afterschool jobs.
