As the Dodgers’ first year with Shohei Ohtani brings a new wave of fans to Vin Scully Avenue, tour guides at the nearly 62-year-old stadium have voted to unionize.
During a National Labor Relations Board election on Tuesday afternoon, 18 tour guides voted “yes” to unionize and 12 voted against. As a result, pending Nlrb certification of the election results, a group of nearly 40 tour guides, tour leads and one plant data collector (a.k.a. the guide of the stadium’s “garden tour”) will join IATSE B-192, a growing Local that represents fellow tour guides at Universal Studios Hollywood and ushers at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Since the Dodger Stadium group went public with their unionization drive, more tour guides have been hired and will ultimately be included in the union, according IATSE B-192.

Former President Donald Trump called for the jailing of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) and the rest of the January 6 Committee for “withholding information” about their investigation into his actions during the U.S. Capitol riot.
Trump made this claim based on a report from an obscure website that disputed the testimony from a former White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson.
In June 2022, Hutchinson appeared at the House Committee’s sixth public hearing regarding the Capitol riots.
She testified that Tony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of operations, called her into his office and shared a story that Agent Bobby Engel, head of Trump’s Secret Service detail, reported shared to him moments before.
He told Hutchinson that the former president entered a transport vehicle but was “irate” when told he could not go to the Capitol, saying that he was “the f—ing President”, and had demanded the driver...

Think about the experience of sitting and watching a movie. What is it about that big, wonderful image that connects with you? If you’re a diehard cineaste the answer might be the film’s cinematography or its use of music, special effects, sound design or something else. But for most audiences, chances are that the primary point of connection is the characters—and probably the actors embodying them.
It’s these performances that we identify with, root against and even lust after. But as much as their agents and managers might care for you to believe otherwise, actors don’t pop up in these roles by accident. Enter the Casting Director.
One of the most important (and unsung) positions on any film crew, the Casting Director is the person responsible for assembling the actors tasked with translating the script’s character description and dialogue into flesh-and-blood.

John Cleese has adapted three episodes of Fawlty Towers into a play, which will premiere in the West End in May.
Fawlty Towers is often, quite rightly, cited as one of the best sitcoms ever made. Starring John Cleese, Prunella Scales, Andrew Sachs and Connie Booth, it was written by Cleese and Booth who, according to the DVD commentaries, took six weeks to plot and write each episode.
The show was based on a real hotel the Monty Python team stayed at, with Basil Fawlty based on its proprietor Donald Sinclair, after whom Cleese later named his character in Rat Race.
According to the British Comedy Guide, Cleese has adapted three episodes for the stage as a play which will premiere at the Apollo Theatre in the West End in June. Caroline Jay Ranger will direct.

Republican presidential candidates Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie both got booed at the GOP summit in Florida on Saturday.
Both men are vocal critics of former President Donald Trump.
The crowd’s reaction showed many voters support Trump, the front-runner for the Republican 2024 nomination.
Hutchinson was booed after he stated that he believes that there is a “significant likelihood” of Trump being “found guilty by a jury on a felony offense next year.”
He continued, “That may or may not happen before you vote in March. And it might not make any difference to you. But it will make a difference for our chances to attract independent voters in November.”
The audience did not agree with Hutchinson’s statements, some even saying, “Go home.”
This did not discourage Hutchinson. “As a party, we must support the rule of law,” he added. “We cannot win as a country without the integrity of the White House.

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said that ex-President Donald Trump is paranoid he will be “poisoned.”
Hutchinson’s new book, Enough, details the president’s phobia that can make dining problematic for him.
Hutchinson recently told comedian Jimmy Kimmel on his show, “[Trump] does have a very potent fear of being poisoned… So he uses and prefers the small Heinz glass ketchup bottles because he likes to hear his valet or whoever’s serving him his meal, he likes to hear the ‘pop’” when the bottle opens.
Her comments were in response to Kimmel’s reference to her testimony in front of the House committee in the investigation of the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
Hutchinson said she found ketchup on the wall with a shattered plate in the West Wing dining room after Trump threw his meal in anger.

Democrats and Republicans were angered by former President Donald Trump’s remarks in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday night, during which he called Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, “very smart.”
Trump offered his opinions on the Hamas attack on Israel and Hezbollah’s recent entrance into the conflict.
“You know, Hezbollah is very smart,” said Trump. “They’re all very smart.”
Trump also criticized the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to recognize the threat from Hamas.
Officials on both sides of the aisle condemned the former president.
“Statements like this are dangerous and unhinged,” said Andrew Bates, deputy White House press secretary, in a statement. “It’s completely lost on us why any American would ever praise an Iran-backed terrorist organization as ‘smart.’ Or have any objection to the United States warning terrorists not to attack Israel.”

In her newly published book Enough, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson claims Rudy Giuliani groped her during her time working for former President Donald Trump.
Hutchinson, 26, who delivered testimony to the congressional committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, claims that Giuliani groped her on the day of the riot.
In her book, Hutchinson described meeting with Giuliani backstage at a speech of Trump’s before a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol building in a protest against the results of the 2020 election. Hutchinson asserts that the former New York mayor put his hand under her skirt during this time.
“I fight against the tension in my muscles and recoil from Rudy’s grip,” Hutchinson writes in her book.

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson wants everyone to know: she never dated Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida).
Hutchinson’s new book, Enough, was released on Tuesday. In it, she details her experiences working for the White House during Trump’s administration, including inappropriate moments with Gaetz.
One story claims that Gaetz “brushed his thumb across [her[ chin” and asked her, “Has anyone ever told you that you’re a national treasure?”
In another instance, Hutchinson recalls Gaetz allegedly knocking on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy‘s (R-California) cabin door during a Camp David retreat, looking for Hutchinson. Former President Donald Trump again is bashing the prospect of another Republican presidential debate, falsely claiming that his absence has translated into low viewership.
In fact, when his rivals gather at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library for the second debate on Wednesday, the question will be whether the event on Fox Business and Univision can match last month’s figures for the first gathering: a higher-than-expected 12.8 million viewers.
Fox News’s Dana Perino, who will moderate the debate with Stuart Varney and Univision’s Ilia Calderón, suggested that the viewership reflected a willingness among voters to look at alternatives.

Paul Hutchinson — an executive producer on Sound of Freedom, the film loosely based on anti-trafficking expert Tim Ballard — has admitted to touching the breasts of a possibly underage trafficking victim during a 2016 sting operation in Mexico.
At the time, Hutchinson was working with Operation Underground Railroad (or Our), the anti-trafficking group founded by Ballard in 2013. According to a Vice report, footage catching Hutchinson in the act was captured by videographers working with Our on a documentary and subsequent TV series called The Abolitionists. This footage was then reviewed by investigator Bryan Purdy of the Davis County Attorney’s Office, who wrote detailed descriptions of it as part of an FBI investigation into Ballard and Our that was closed earlier this year without any charges being brought forward.
Documents obtained through a public records request from Vice News include descriptions showing that Hutchinson and Our believed the trafficking victim was 16 years old at the time.

Donald Trump skipped the debate stage typically relished by presidential candidates on Wednesday and instead appeared in an online interview peppered with his election lies, attacks on his rivals and lavish praise for the crowd of supporters he spoke to before they stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Trump, who has repeatedly brushed aside democratic norms and embraced the inflammatory throughout his political career, said he was sitting out the first Republican presidential debate in Milwaukee because his poll numbers showed him far ahead of his rivals.
Instead, he used a pre-recorded interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to make his case that everyone but him is irrelevant.
In the most inflammatory exchange, Trump seemed to indulge a suggestion from Carlson that Trump’s political opponents might try to end his life.

In the most inflammatory exchange, Trump seemed to indulge a suggestion from Carlson that Trump’s political opponents might try to end his life.
“They’re savage animals. They are people that are sick. Really sick. You have great people in the Democrat Party,...

Update: Six of the eight contenders on the stage indicated that they would still support Donald Trump if he is the GOP nominee even if he is convicted.
But the cameras caught Ron DeSantis as he looked around at his rivals before raising his hand.
Moderator Bret Baier had asked if Trump “is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice?”
The only two who did not were Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie. And the latter looked as if he had raised his hand, but told Baier that he was waving a sign of disapproval.
“Here’s the bottom line: Someone has got to stop normalizing this conduct. Whether or not you believe the criminal charges are right or wrong, the conduct is beneath the office of president of the United States,” Christie said. His remarks drew some cheers and boos.

On July 21, 2023, Apple TV+ premiered “Stephen Curry: Underrated,” a coming-of-age story of Stephen Curry, from an undersized basketball player at a small college, to becoming a larger-than-life NBA superstar. The documentary directed by Peter Nicks currently holds a perfect 100% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Read our full review round-up below.

Bill Edelstein of Variety says, “If the measure of a good documentary about a superstar athlete is in synthesizing what makes its subject tick, ‘Stephen Curry: Underrated’ gets passing grades. And that’s no small compliment, considering the movie spends most of its time at school, a familiar place for director Peter Nicks, whose previous doc, ‘Homeroom,’ served up a very different look at education. With enough fresh stories to keep basketball fanatics engaged and a coda that every soccer mom will appreciate, this is...

So far, so good. The last three episodes of the new Idris Elba starrer Hijack were taut enough to always keep the viewer engaged and surely a bit faster-paced than the latest one. The new episode brings some intense geo-political thrills into the picture while Sam, the pro negotiator, tries to find a way to send a message from the plane down to his ex-wife Marsha. There is a poignant tete-a-tete between Sam and one of the hijackers. It drags on a bit, but it just goes to show how quick Sam is on his feet to make the best of an almost hopeless situation. The episode focuses more on the imbalance of political powers, where Britain typically has had the upper hand, but now the tables have turned, and the plane is flying over Romania. The problem may escalate and result in the plane getting shot down by Romanian...

Outsted Fox News star Tucker Carlson will appear in his first major public event since his April canning on Friday, when he hosts an Iowa presidential forum presented by Blaze Media.
Carlson will speak one-on-one with five candidates at what is billed as “The Family Leadership Summit” — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson. The talks start at 10 a.m.
Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is not slated to appear. Neither is former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the candidate who has been the most critical of Trump on the campaign trail.
Following the forum, Carlson will appear on a special episode of “Glenn TV,” for what is being billed as “an intimate conversation” with another former Fox News host, Glenn Beck.

Given Nikki Haley’s abysmal polling numbers and lackluster fundraising, it’s high time the 2024 Republican presidential candidate switched up her messaging strategy, and Donald Trump’s indictment by the Justice Department is looking like too good of an opportunity for the former South Carolina governor to pass up.
On Monday, Haley tested the waters of taking a harsher stance against the former president. During an interview with Fox News, Haley called Trump’s handling of classified documents following his departure from office “incredibly reckless.”

Exclusive: Itvx has recommissioned its first reality show since launching late last year: hybrid format Loaded in Paradise.
The 10-parter from The Reluctant Traveller indie Twofour follows a group of couples who race around Greece with €50,000 following the show’s mantra: ‘Live your best life, just don’t get caught’. Season two will remain in Greece but with a new route and new set of luxurious locations.
ITV said the show achieved a healthy share of young viewers – more than one-third were aged between 16 and 34 – when it aired last year on ITV2. In the overnight ratings, it performed in line with fellow ITV2 formats such as Ready to Mingle, but is a far cry from matching the channel’s best performer, Love Island.
Nonetheless, Loaded in Paradise has become new streamer Itvx’s first reality recommission since launch, as ITV seeks to buttress the platform with high-volume content. Premiere date has not yet been set.

Donald Trump has managed to cow his Republican 2024 opponents into defending him at every turn — even when he’s been found liable for sexual battery.
A New York jury ruled on Tuesday that Trump must pay $5 million in civil damages to author E. Jean Carroll, who alleged the former president raped her in the ‘90s. While the jury stopped short of ruling the attack was rape, they did find that Trump was liable for sexual battery against Carroll and had later defamed her after she came forward.

Just as manslaughter charges against Alec Baldwin in the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins have been dropped, production on Rust has resumed. The crew has also added safety officers in an attempt to ensure no such tragedy ever happens again.
Production on Rust immediately halted in New Mexico after Hutchins’ death in October 2021. The death turned into finger pointing as well, with Baldwin himself filing lawsuits against armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and assistant director David Halls, while the recently dropped lawsuit against Baldwin tried to pin the blame on the actor and Gutierrez-Reed, who is still facing charges.
Ahead of Rust continuing production after 18 months, director Joel Souza, who was also injured during the accident, paid tribute to Hutchinson. “Though bittersweet, I am grateful that a brilliant and dedicated new production team is joining former cast and crew to complete what Halyna and I started. I know they are favorites for a lot of people, but I struggle with the "Rocky" sequels and even the "Creed" movies to a certain extent. They became high-gloss Hollywood productions, which is fine, but they get so far away from what made the original Best Picture-winning film such a special movie. For me, what sets "Rocky" apart from so many of its imitators and successors is its immense sense of authenticity to the lives of ordinary, working-class people, and where I feel this most acutely is with the character of Adrian, played by Talia Shire.
In theory, Shire could not be more Hollywood. Her brother is this little filmmaker you may have heard of named Francis Ford Coppola, who made some movies people like, but nothing about the way she carries herself indicates that stature in the slightest. She is a proper character actor and a damn good one at that.

A Florida woman who was scheduled to stand trial on federal charges related to the Jan. 6 riots did not show up to court in Washington, DC, on Monday, according to the Associated Press. The FBI is searching for both Olivia Pollock and Joseph Hutchinson III after a federal judge issued bench warrants for their arrests last week.
Joe Boland, a supervisory special agent with the FBI’s Lakeland, Florida office, told AP that the court issued the warrants after it was alerted that the defendants had tampered with or removed their ankle monitors.

Updated: Days after the January 6 Committee recommended four staggering criminal charges against former president Donald Trump, the panel this evening released its final report.
“Our country has come too far to allow a defeated president to turn himself into a successful tyrant by upending our democratic institutions, fomenting violence, and, as I saw it, opening the door to those in our country whose hatred and bigotry threaten equality and justice for all Americans,” Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson wrote in his opening statement.
The 845-page document is here.
CNN and MSNBC covered the release as breaking news, but Fox News largely avoided it as the report came during the 9 Pm hour of The Ingraham Angle.
The release comes after the committee began to release transcripts of committee interviews, including those with Cassidy Hutchinson, the former aide to chief of staff Mark Meadows, who detailed the pressure she was put under by...

Cassidy Hutchinson gave some of the most damning testimony the Jan. 6 committee heard about former President Donald Trump. CNN reported on Tuesday that a Trump-connected lawyer who had been representing the former Mark Meadows aide advised her to lie to the committee.

The North Africans, who were backed by vociferous supporters, took an early lead to keep themselves on course for a place in the last 16 and join the other qualified team from Africa Senegal in the knockout phase of the tournament after emerging as winners in their group.
For Morocco, this is only the second time they are making it to the knockout stage since 1986 in Mexico when they defeated Portugal 3-1 on their way to the knockout stage.
The Atlas Lions started their Qatar campaign with a 0-0 draw against the 2018 finalists Croatia and added another feather in the cap by defeating World No.2 Belgium 2-0 a few days ago. This post contains spoilers for "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," a high fantasy series loosely inspired by the extended prequel writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, dares to ask the big questions: What was Isildur (Maxim Baldry) like during his angsty, teen years? Did Elrond (Robert Aramayo) ever rock a side part? What was Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) like during her angsty (immortal) teen years? In fairness, there are a lot of characters -- some of their core conflicts were bound to get repetitive. Chief among these mysteries, however, was that of a hidden identity, one so curious that its very revelation could spell great change for the series. No, we're not talking about The Stranger (Daniel Weyman), or Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin) -- insert an ironically repetitious joke about narrative repetition here -- but Halbrand (Charlie Vickers).

Major spoilers ahead for "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" season 1.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" has wrapped up season 1 and is currently shooting season 2. The Prime Video series is based on author J.R.R. Tolkien's supplemental lore for Middle-earth, and is set thousands of years before the Peter Jackson film trilogies. This is the story of how the rings of power were formed, the secret return of Sauron after his mentor Morgoth's defeat, and the destruction of the island nation of Númenor. It's a sweeping epic that has us traveling all over Middle-earth and beyond and almost to the western lands where the elves go to rest. And in the final episodes of season 1, it also shows us the rise of Mordor.
Emmy-nominated writer and executive producer Gennifer Hutchinson, who wrote the finale with showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, as well as the episode "Adrift,...

The great fantasy show face-off of 2022 ended weeks ago, with Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" and HBO's "House of the Dragon" each concluding their first season in October. However, we're still talking about both shows and how their streaming numbers matched up, among other things. Ratings don't mean as much, of course, when you're a franchise prequel with a built-in fanbase and a second season that has already been written and already began filming even before the first season concluded.
"The Rings of Power" was actually renewed as far back as 2019, and Prime Video invested almost half a billion dollars in the first season alone, so its immediate future was never in doubt. This put the show's writers in the unique position of not having to wonder whether they would be able to continue the story beyond the first season.

Now that the ash of Mount Doom has settled, the black flags of Númenor have been raised, and the harfoots have continued on their merry way, it's a good time to take a look back on the first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." The dazzling, epic, and sometimes slackly paced series had a lot to offer across its first eight episodes, including several mysterious ties to the Middle-earth we know and love.
One of the biggest mysteries, the identity of the fallen dark lord Sauron, was finally revealed at the season's climax. /Film's Jenna Busch recently interviewed Gennifer Hutchinson, who co-wrote the finale, about exactly how the decision to reveal Sauron's identity came together. Writers — they're just like us! If you thought we fans were the only ones getting all caught up in our feelings while watching these larger-than-life stories on such an unimaginably wide canvas, think again. "The Lord of the Rings" has always boasted a sincere streak that tugs right at the heartstrings of its fans, revealing author J.R.R. Tolkien as something of a softie when it comes to fantastical adventures, the power of friendship, and the nostalgic comforts of home. The symbolic representation of these ideas have traditionally come courtesy of the hobbits, the home-loving little folk with big feet and even bigger hearts. Frodo, Sam, Bilbo, and all the rest may be completely different characters, but they all share many of the same qualities that make them so easy to root for and identify with.

Update: The January 6th Committee concluded with a unanimous vote to subpoena Donald Trump.
“We are obligated to seek answers directly from the man who set this in motion,” said Rep. Liz Cheney (R-wy).
Trump seems likely to try to fight the subpoena. It’s rare for any congressional panel to subpoena a president, current or former.
After so many months of anticipation, this hearing again lived up to and even exceeded expectations in the offering of new material, first and foremost being video footage. That was particularly true of the behind-the-scene footage of congressional leaders as they feverishly sought help as the attack on the Capitol unfolded.
After the hearing, committee member Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-ca) told Deadline that the footage was taken by Alexandra Pelosi, a documentary filmmaker who is the daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The Jan. 6 committee is holding its ninth and — supposedly — final public hearing on Thursday. The panel is expected to key on former President Donald Trump’s role in the riot, and to exhibit evidence provided by a Danish film crew that trailed longtime Trump ally Roger Stone, who has been connected to extremist groups who played a role in the attack. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) told CNN this week that the committee will present “pretty surprising” new material.
The committee’s final hearing was initially scheduled for Sept. 28, but was postponed due to Hurricane Ian.

The New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator has determined that the deadly shooting on the set of western Rust was officially an accident.
Following the accidental shooting of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchinson in October 2021, Alec Baldwin–who also serves as producer on the film–claimed he never pulled the trigger. However, a test by the FBI determined that, despite internal issues with the firearm, the gun could not have been fired without pulling the trigger.
According to the FBI report, “This was the only successful discharge during this testing and it was attributed to the fracture of internal components, not the failure of the firearm or safety mechanisms.” They also noted, “It may not be possible to recreate or duplicate” the scenario.
Baldwin’s lawyers have called it a “tragic accident.” No formal charges have been filed against Baldwin as of publication.
