As two Fyre Festival documentaries hit the airwaves, a couple who say their credit was ruined due to the Fyre Festival’s lack of payment for their services have raised $54,381 at time of publication on GoFundMe.
Elvis and Maryann Rolle wrote on their page that they catered “no less than 1000 meals per day” in April of 2017 while organizers stayed in the rooms at their Exuma Point Resort, which includes a bar and grille.
“Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all prepared and delivered by Exuma Point to Coco Plum Beach, and Roker’s Point where the main events were scheduled to take place. Organizers would also visit my Exuma Point location to enjoy the prepared meals,” the page reads.
Rolle, the Bahamian woman behind the account, was featured in Netflix’s “Fyre,” where she explained that she lost at least $50,000 — likely much more — after continuing to provide meals to guests and...

In 2017, director Chris Smith was wrapping up Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond, his documentary on Jim Carrey’s transformation into Andy Kaufman for Man on the Moon, when he added a simple line to “a bunch of half-baked ideas” he had written down: Fyre Festival. Organizers of the inaugural luxurious music festival, set to take place over two weekends in the Bahamas in 2017, promised attendees exquisite villas, hangs with supermodels and a lineup featuring Blink-182, Major Lazer, G.O.O.D. Music and Disclosure, among many high-profile acts.

Netflix said Monday it has acquired Chris Smith’s Fyre, a documentary about the uber-fail 2017 Fyre Festival in the Bahamas that spawned lawsuits over its poor organization and false claims. Smith, who directed Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, connected with the organizers to tell a behind the scenes tale. Netflix will bow the docu on January 18.
Created by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule, Fyre was promoted as a luxury music festival on a private island featuring bikini-clad supermodels, A-List musical performances and posh amenities. The reality was far from the promises — boxed lunches, a tent city and no music. McFarland was sentenced in October to six years in prison for fraud.
Check out the Frye teaser above.
Smith wrote and directed and produced with Vice Studios’ Danny Gabai and Jerry Media’s Mick Purzycki. Brett Kincaid, Max Pollack, Matthew Rowean, Gabrielle Bluestone, James Ohliger and Elliot Tebele are executive producers.
