ReviewThe murder mystery revolves around 11 friends and a strange game they play with their phones out on the table.CrisPerhaps Kr Krishnakumar, the scriptwriter, was preparing us for the murder ahead when he introduces 11 people as a set of annoyingly superficial friends in 12th Man, the new thriller from the Jeethu Joseph-Mohanlal team. Why else would a bunch of grownups have such lousy conversations, passing on a secret like kindergarteners and generally making the accidental viewer squirm? Either the writer never paid attention when friends had conversations around him or else he wanted us to see how absurd this gang of people he had to write about were. Just so there is no surprise when one of them dies and all the others become suspects. There is of course the twelfth man, the stranger, coming into their midst, making things slightly interesting. Mohanlal, unsurprisingly, is the stranger at the resort...

A sleeper hit, the film also gave a big boost to the career of actor Joju George. Pathaam Valavu is Padmakumar's attempt to return to the crime drama genre after the debacle of Mamangam. The result, however, is rather underwhelming when compared to Joseph. Pathaam Valavu begins with Sub Inspector Sethu (Indrajith) and his fellow officers on the lookout for a jail inmate named Solomon (Suraj Venjaramoodu), who has absconded at the end of his parole. Sethu and his men soon find and arrest Solomon. But on the way back down the hill, there is a...

Mollywood The star also recounted the bond they've shared right from childhood. Tnm StaffPranav Mohanlal, the son of a reigning superstar in Mollywood, is all set for his big entry into cinema as hero. Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan, who has been conquering hearts for sometime now, took to Facebook to wish his childhood buddy, “little brother” and future colleague all the very best for his release Aadhi. Dulquer fondly referred to Pranav as Appu, and wrote about the bond they have shared right from when he first saw Pranav as a baby to when they became buddies when Pranav was 7 and Dulquer was in middle school. “You'll always be the little brother I never had and forever more I'll celebrate and applaud your growth at every step and pray for your success,” he said in the message. Dulquer even spoke about how Pranav’s parents Mohanlal, Suchi and sister must be apprehensive about Aadhi but said they have nothing to worry about as “Pranav was born to be a superstar.” Earlier, Dulquer’s dad Mammootty had also taken to social media to wish “Appu” all the best for the his debut release as an adult. Pranav, known within the industry by his pet name Appu, will be debuting as hero in Jeethu Joseph’s Aadhi, an action-thriller which is set to hit the theatres on January 26. The movie is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor, under the banner of Aadhirvad Cinemas. Pranav is playing an aspiring musician in the film, which is supposedly high on action sequences. An interesting detail about Aadhi is that most of the stunt sequences, barring one, has been performed by the 27-year-old himself, despite father Mohanlal requesting for dupes to carry out the action sequences. Director Jeethu Joseph in an interview had also said that the Malayalam film industry would get an exceptional actor if Pranav decided to continue in cinema. Pranav made his acting debut as a child artiste in Onnaman in 2002. He then went on to win the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for his performance in Punarjani. He has also worked as an assistant director under Jeethu Joseph in the Tamil film Papanasam which had Kamal Haasan and Gauthami playing the lead roles. The star cast of Aadhi has Siju Wilson and Sharafudheen as well as Anusree, Lena, Siddique, Aditi Ravi, and Nobi. The bond between the sons of these stars - even as fans fight among themselves - is heart-warming and we hope to see the two future superstars together on the big screen soon.
