Last night, Drake responded to Kendrick Lamar and the rest of rap’s anti-Drizzy cohort — sort of. During a stop on his Big As The What tour in Sunrise, Florida, Drake took a moment to get defiant amid the hysteria about Kendrick’s fiery verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” where the Compton rhymer took aim at Drake and J. Cole by rhyming, “motherfuck the big three, nigga, it’s just big me” (among other shots).

How does dance music sensation John Summit pregame his set at one of Las Vegas’ most popular nightclubs the Friday before the Super Bowl? Laying in bed, eating an airport sandwich.
But just because he’s horizontal doesn’t mean he’s unproductive. In fact, he’s spending his time cooking up something new that could be house music’s next smash hit — or at least a highlight of what his fans hear that night. “I try to make a new song for every set,” Summit, 29, says. “I usually make...

On the morning of Feb. 6, “Drake” was trending on X (formerly known as Twitter); not too unusual for one of the world’s most successful rappers. The reason, though, turned out to be extremely unusual for the pop star and reverberated across the internet for a week – what looked like a video of Drake engaged in a solo sex act was circulating. He hasn’t commented on the video or its veracity explicitly, but he seems to be taking the commotion in stride.

For 20 students at Pittsburgh Faison and Pittsburgh Westinghouse in Pennsylvania, a school field trip didn’t mean an excursion to the zoo or a museum. Instead, the crew of elementary and high school students took a trip to Ppg Paints Arena on Saturday evening to sing with Lil Durk in a performance of “All My Life” during his opening slot on Drake and J. Cole’s It’s All a Blur tour.

If there’s one defining feature of seemingly every Kanye West album rollout, it’s gotta be chaos. In the past, it was usually good chaos — oh, how we yearn for the days of first-week sales competitions, Good Friday drops, and music videos projected on buildings. But these days, it’s often grim chaos, and the rollout for Vultures 1, West’s new collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, has been another exhibition in the form: delays upon delays, sample issues, diatribes of various kinds, and an alternate album cover based...

At 48, Killer Mike won three rap Grammys on Sunday and told the audience: “You cannot tell me you get too old. You cannot tell me it’s too late.”
Mike won best rap album for Michael, while his song “Scientists and Engineers” won best rap performance and best rap song. On Twitter, the Recording Academy accidentally announced that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” won best rap song, though it went to Michael‘s track, which features Andre 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.
“For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap, bullshit. I don’t give a damn if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home, make sure we keep hip-hop alive,” he said during the Grammys pre-show held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The official ceremony will air later from the Crypto.

One of the most exciting categories this year at the Grammys is Best Melodic Rap Performance, where there’s one glaring omission: Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World.” The big hit from “Barbie” was relegated to Best Rap Song, showing a lack of enthusiasm from voters (who likely voted for it in the songwriting category due to its high alphabetical placement on the ballot). But the song’s miss ended up making the category way more interesting with a couple of hits now duking it out for the win. With big names in the category such as Drake and Sza, let’s consider who will ultimately be crowned the winner come February 4.
Let’s start with the song that has the least chance of a win: Burna Boy and 21 Savage’s “Sittin’ on Top of the World.” While the track was a big hit for Burna, it...

Taylor Swift is the odds-on favorite to make history with an Album of the Year victory for “Midnights.” It would be her fourth win in the category following victories for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.” That would set a new record for the most Album of the Year wins for any recording artist ever, breaking Swift’s tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. 21 Savage’s third solo album, American Dream, begins with his mother, Heather Joseph, describing her family’s emigration from Britain to America during his childhood. “Every path that I walked was for my son,” she tells us. (Big Rube of Dungeon Family fame penned her introduction.) It’s a concept many others have used before, most famously by Jay-Z and his mother Gloria Carter on “December 4th” from 2003’s The Black Album.

Kanye spent much of 2023 out of the public eye, reportedly recording the album in various locations alongside collaborator Ty Dolla $ign. In addition to Ty, Vultures reportedly includes features from Lil Baby, Bad Bunny, Nicki Minaj, James Blake, Kodak Black,...

Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has issued a statement in Hebrew on his Instagram expressing regret over his antisemitic comments over the past year.
That includes recent statements allegedly made in Las Vegas earlier this month, and caught by live streamers in attendance, invoking Hitler and Jesus Christ alongside himself, and addressing his loss of brand sponsorships and partnerships during a Vultures album event, as reported by Rolling Stone.
Set to release on Jan. 12, the album’s title track, which features Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk and Bump J, seemingly addresses previous criticism of Ye, with the rapper stating, “How I’m antisemitic? I just fucked a Jewish bitch.”
Ye, who deleted all his previous Instagram posts leaving only his recent apology, wrote on Tuesday that he regretted his “unplanned outburst,” seemingly alluding to the Vegas event, as translated by The Jerusalem Post.

Kanye West linked up with Ty Dolla Sign on a new song called “Vultures,” and the lyrics address some of his biggest recent controversies. However, he does not seem to be apologetic.
The 46-year-old rapper’s track premiered on Friday night (November 17) on a radio station in Chicago, according to Billboard.
The lyrics directly address hateful, anti-Semitic remarks Kanye made in late 2022. The comments resulted in a dramatic fall-out that cost the hitmaker millions in brand deals.

“How I’m anti-Semitic? I just f-cked a Jewish b-tch,” Kanye raps on his verse. The next line seemingly takes aim at Scooter Braun, who Kanye worked with until 2018. “I just f-cked Scooter‘s b-tch and we ran up like Olympics,” he declared.

You can’t win ’em all. With so many candidates to choose from every Grammy season, there are inevitably major contenders left out of the running in favor of artists, songs and albums we didn’t see coming. With that in mind, scroll down to see some of the major contenders who didn’t make the cut in the big four general field categories of Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
Foo Fighters are missing entirely from the general field, though they were recognized in the rock field. Their album “But Here We Are” was snubbed for Album of the Year, and their single “Rescued” missed the cut for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Also absent from the general field is Doja Cat‘s “Paint the Town Red.” She missed out on Record of the Year and Song of the Year,...
