Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire star Dan Stevens truly has a spring in his step right now.
Over the next five months, the English actor has three unique genre films hitting theaters, beginning with Friday’s Godzilla x Kong, which marks his long-awaited reunion with his The Guest director, Adam Wingard. A decade ago, Wingard cast Stevens as David Collins, an unhinged super soldier who ultimately terrorizes the family of a fallen friend and fellow soldier, and the project served as the London native’s breakout feature film role. The Guest continues to increase its cult status with each passing year, and Stevens and Wingard, as well as writer Simon Barrett, have fielded countless requests for a sequel ever since.

Adam Wingard wants you to be his guest again — no, really this time. A sequel for his 2014 thriller has been talked about for quite a while now and has at various points seemed as close as ever to going before cameras. And while we’re far from an official greenlight, Wingard is still toiling away with The Guest 2.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Wingard said that he and writer Simon Barrett have been tinkering with an idea that could make The Guest 2 work. Even still, he feels there is a missing component: the late Lance Reddick, who passed away just over one year ago and who also appeared in Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong. “It’s unfortunate that Lance Reddick died last year. It was very sad, and I loved Lance. So I wish that we could have made [The Guest 2] happen in his lifetime, because we would’ve definitely carried him over into the film.

Three years ago, back when director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong was released, it was announced that the filmmaker would be making a movie based on the classic animated series ThunderCats (which originally ran from 1985 to 1989), with his approach being to make it a live action / CGI animation hybrid, as he couldn’t imagine hiring actors to just play the ThunderCats in makeup. Then Wingard got caught up in the production of Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 29th – but during an interview with io9, he confirmed that he hasn’t left the ThunderCats behind. That project is still in active development.
Wingard said, “Simon [Barrett] and I are still actively working on the script. We finished our last draft basically right when I was going into production on [Godzilla x Kong] and we just had to put everything on hold. [But] right now we...

The 'Face/Off' sequel is much delayed. The follow-up to the 1997 action blockbuster starring Nicolas Cage and John Travolta has been heavily impacted by last year's writer's strike. The flick's co-writer Adam Wingard told io9: "Almost in the middle of production [on Godzilla x Kong], we were finishing our draft of the script and because both of us were too busy working on other things there was a plan to do a rewrite, and we picked a writer to work on it."And then the writers' strike happened so that delayed things. Right now, that's still inactive, so I think the plan with that one will be that writer will continue working, and whenever that draft is done, Simon [Barrett, co-writer] and I will get it back and we'll take another crack at it."The sci-fi action thriller saw Travolta play FBI agent Sean Archer and Cage terrorist Castor Troy.

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard has revealed that his take on the beloved 1980s cartoon Thundercats is still being developed – one of several high-profile projects he’s attached to.
Adam Wingard is out and about doing the press rounds for Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire which releases here in the UK at the end of this week (29th March). Naturally, one of the questions that Wingard has faced regards the order of his upcoming slate, given that he’s got quite a list of projects to cherry-pick from.
Taking a glance at the projects that Wingard has been publicly attached to over the last couple of years reads like a wish-list for any blockbuster filmmaker with a penchant for action. There’s Thundercats, a long-gestating take on the humanoid warrior cats that were so popular in animated form during the 1980s; there’s a sequel to Face/Off,...

A successful photographer celebrated around the world. A writer who resorts to publishing her own novels. Each had a long history of relationships, familial and otherwise, before they met in middle age. Now he’s 84 and she’s 75, and they are facing mortality together. Will love save them? The premise for “Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other,” Jacob Perlmutter and Manon Ouimet’s quietly relatable documentary about the marriage of Joel Meyerowitz and Maggie Barrett, sounds like the real-life companion piece to Michael Haneke’s “Amour.” Soon enough, however, it’s revealed to be closer to Justine Triet’s “Anatomy of a Fall,” a dissection of a marriage full of resentment and hidden grievances.
Barrett and Meyerowitz met at the right time to start a lasting relationship. Both had seen strife and happiness, which led them to have a real connection. As they are presented in the film,...

Exclusive: “Quite a can of worms,” observed a British casting director of a scandal that, until February, was unknown to his profession. The 30-year industry veteran was talking about the practice of agents sending clients fake invitations to record self-tape auditions.
Deadline first exposed the issue in an investigation on Bodhi Talent, a boutique agency based in Manchester. Founder Archie Purnell was accused of copying legitimate self-tape invites and pasting them in emails to clients who had not been called to audition. One actor rumbled the ruse when an audition landed in her inbox 30 minutes after the deadline for submissions had passed.
Twisting open the Bodhi-shaped Russian doll revealed similar concerns about a larger agency: International Artists Management (Iam). The London-based company claims to have 400 clients on its books and is run by Luc Chaudhary, a reported millionaire once engaged to Silent Witness star Emilia Fox.

This is really something special. A movie that resonates with me to such a degree that it is etched upon all that I love within the genre. It feels like a twisted take on a certain Marvel hero who loves to show off his patriotism—and love for his country—through blood, bullets, and even a bar brawl. All he was missing was a vibranium shield. This film involves a charismatic, stone-cold stoic, and reserved antagonist that you sometimes cheer for, even if he has a bloodlust towards innocent bystanders. I would like to defend myself by saying that it’s not just a cult-classic, but a bona fide, badass flick that displays multiple elements of thriller, comedy, action, and horror. It gels together so damn well, that you can’t believe it’s not butter. Today we’re discussing Adam Wingard’s 2014, stranger-danger film, The Guest (watch it Here...

For the second time in two years, Texas’ controversial Hb 20 law is coming to the Supreme Court. This time, the highest court in the land is expected to deliver a decisive ruling on Hb 20’s legality. In the process, it could establish a new precedent for laws that concern speech on social media.
The current Supreme Case centers on two different state laws, both of which attempt to restrict the moderation practices of platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Texas’ Hb 20, which passed in 2021, looks to stop those platforms from taking any action that would “block, ban, remove, deplatform, demonetize, de-boost, restrict, deny equal access or visibility to, or otherwise discriminate against expression.” The other law comes from Florida and prevents platforms from banning users who are seeking political office in the state.

In the luddite days of the Nineties, there were a handful of ways to discover a new video game: You could hear about it in the schoolyard from that one kid who swore that their older brother got a copy straight from Japan. You could read about it from a more legitimate source, like a magazine you picked up at Borders. Or you could inevitably stumble across a commercial on TV. That last one, that’s how I discovered the original Final Fantasy VII. But unlike other game commercials that relied on near-traumatic,...

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been a long time coming, with it being the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. It’s truly amazing how big the scope is. Rebirth takes everything that Remake introduced and made it even bigger, now adding a fully explorable open world. While the real-time combat doesn’t get much of an overhaul, what makes Rebirth stand out from its predecessor is the sheer amount of content. With an excellent story, tons of side quests, and a whole world to explore, Rebirth is one of the best games of 2024 so far. Rebirth takes place right after the events of Remake when the party leaves Midgar. Here, the party seeks to stop both the megacorporation, Shinra, and Sephiroth from destroying the planet. Rebirth ’s gigantic scope is a double-edged sword for its story. Spread across 14 chapters, sometimes the story’s momentum slows down...

One of the most original and ambitious shows on network television came to a satisfying conclusion on February 13. After three seasons, NBC’s “La Brea” aired its series finale, wrapping up its ensemble plotlines in a manner that followed through on all the story’s thematic implications while also resolving a convoluted time travel narrative that has grown increasingly complicated — and increasingly inventive. Although the episode contains some of the biggest and most exciting action sequences in the show’s history, the most important task for series creator David Appelbaum was pulling off the more intimate scenes that resolved the adventure of the Harris family, a clan separated in Season 1 by a sinkhole that sent its characters back to 10,000 Bce.
“The biggest pressure was just trying to make sure the emotions landed,” Appelbaum told IndieWire. “From the beginning, the way I pitched the series was that it’s a family divided by a sinkhole,...

Peter Berkos, the Universal Pictures sound effects maestro and champion of sound editors everywhere who shared a special achievement Oscar for his work on the Robert Wise-directed disaster epic The Hindenburg, has died. He was 101.
Berkos died Tuesday in Rancho Bernardo, California, his friend Brae Wyckoff told The Hollywood Reporter.
While president of the Motion Picture Sound Editors from 1963-66, Berkos began a successful campaign for his colleagues to gain full membership into the film and television academies and to receive credit onscreen and off for their work.
Berkos himself was uncredited for the first 20 years of his career until Car Wash (1976), and the Oscars would eventually revive its dormant competitive sound effects category from 1983 onward.
Across four decades, he worked for Universal on such films as Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil (1958), four features directed by George Roy Hill — Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967), the Oscar best picture winner The Sting...

Jermaine Jackson is being sued for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in 1988.
The lawsuit, filed on December 27 by Rita Butler Barrett, charges Jackson with sexual battery, battery, sexual assault and negligence.
In addition to suing Jermaine himself, Barrett is also suing his company, Jermaine L. Jackson Music Productions, and Work Records Inc.
Barrett alleges that Jackson showed up at her house unannounced and then assaulted her. She claims that she met Jackson through her work as a music contractor.
“Defendant Jackson forced himself into Plaintiff’s home, and with force and violence sexually assaulted Plaintiff,” the suit stated. “During the assault, Plaintiff, a woman of faith prayed to God for help. During the assault, Plaintiff feared for her life. After the assault and when Defendant Jackson was satiated, he left the residence.”
Motown founder Berry Gordy is also cited in the lawsuit, as Barrett claims that Gordy protected Jermaine for financial reasons.

When “Moonlighting” premiered on ABC on March 3, 1985, with a two-hour movie, all the ingredients for what a blockbuster the show became were in place. Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis had undeniable chemistry; the verbal dexterity was on full display; and the ingredients for what would become the show’s signature physical comedy was there in the climactic moment at the airport. No, wait, at the top of the Capitol Records building. No, no, it was at the top of the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles. The full sequence is one of the most thrilling, vertigo-inducing action moments of any TV series then or today, as audiences are discovering now that “Moonlighting” is streaming on Hulu. Not only is the building itself gorgeous, but as reluctant new partners in a detective agency on their first case, Shepherd and Willis dangle over the edge and clamber onto a horizontal ladder directly over downtown L.

Exclusive: The shape of Blue Ant Media’s combined studios and rights business is coming together.
Following the Canada’s Drag Race producer’s acquisition of Canadian compatriot MarbleMedia in August, the as-yet-unnamed production and distribution business has set out its leadership teams under Co-Presidents Mark Bishop and Matthew Hornburg, we can reveal.
Bishop and Hornburg previously led MarbleMedia, which has production and sales operations in Canada and the UK. Merging their business with Michael MacMillan’s Blue Ant has created Canada’s latest major content business, the name of which will soon be unveiled.
Here’s a rundown of the new structure: Hornburg’s unscripted development will see Jennifer Harkness taking the factual entertainment development reins from Blue Ant’s LA office. Over in Toronto, Kelsey Espensen (Best in Miniature) will lead unscripted entertainment and Steve Gamester (Inside the Statue Wars) heads specialist factual development.

The "M*A*S*H" finale is the stuff of legends. The end of the long-running Korean War sitcom, a two-and-a-half-hour-long conclusion called "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen," aired over 40 years ago, yet it still holds space in the collective hearts and minds of Americans who witnessed it — and in the record books. Depending on how you measure it, "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" is either still the most-watched TV telecast of all time outside of the moon landing (over 120 million people tuned in) or one that's since been bested mostly by Super Bowls (closer to 106 million people watched the complete episode).

This post contains spoilers for "Gen V."
The college-age characters on "Gen V" have some powers that are pretty unique from those we've seen on its parent show, "The Boys." The most mysterious powers, however, belong to Marie (Jaz Sinclair). Sure, we've seen blood-bending in various forms before in other media, but the full extent of Marie's capabilities has yet to be seen. Each episode sees her revealing more elements of her abilities, because an attunement to blood is going to be really powerful. A whole lot of living things are chock-full of the stuff, including humans, which makes her a serious possible threat. Many other supes have some kind of restrictions to their abilities but the only thing that could really short out Marie seems to be losing too much of her own blood, which hasn't come close to happening yet.

Gabriel Macht and Jacinda Barrett may have played love interests on "Suits," but their nearly two-decade-long romance is an even more beautiful story. Did you know they met on a blind date? The actors have been married since 2004 and share two children, a son named Luca and a daughter named Satine. While the two remain primarily tight-lipped about their personal lives, Barrett and Macht's Instagram posts show just how much fun they have with their children.
In April 2016, Macht spoke to Woman's Day about how his family is the most important thing in his life. "I'm a family man," the "Because I Said So" actor told the outlet at the time. "My relationships with my wife and my kids are my priorities. And I have the utmost confidence in my love for my family and I prioritize that."
Macht also shared how he differs from his "Suits" character, Harvey Specter.

In 2013, a home invasion horror movie was released that made a ridiculous amount of money relative to its tiny production budget which helped launch the career of a now-prominent filmmaker. That may sound like "The Purge" but I'm actually talking about "You're Next," the beloved slasher flick that helped to put Adam Wingard on the map. Wingard has since made giant blockbusters like "Godzilla vs. Kong," which helped bring movie theaters back to life in 2021 in the aftermath of the quarantine era of the pandemic. Wingard is now an A-list director, and that journey pretty much starts with this movie.

Pink Floyd had one of the great resurrection stories in classic rock. Founder, guitarist, and chief songwriter Syd Barrett’s creative genius put the band on the map. His deteriorating mental health led his bandmates to move on without him. Barrett crashed Pink Floyd’s recording sessions for Wish You Were Here, but that happened years after he unexpectedly showed up at the studio while his former band made another record.

Pink Floyd recorded several all-time great classic rock songs. They also hid some underrated gems on their albums, but “Have You Got It Yet?” wasn’t one of them. Still, that tune reunited Pink Floyd’s three surviving members for a movie of the same name that looks at the band’s early history.
Pink Floyd reunited for the movie ‘Have You Got It Yet?’
Pink Floyd’s intraband relationships were rarely smooth sailing, even when the band reached its peak.
Bassist and chief songwriter Roger Waters and lead guitarist David Gilmour often found themselves on rocky ground. Waters fired keyboard player Rick Wright while recording The Wall and supplanted drummer Nick Mason with Andy Newmark on The Final Cut. The classic Pink Floyd lineup bitterly disintegrated after that latter album. The years and distance did little to thaw the frosty relationships.
Still, Have You Got It Yet? got Pink Floyd to reunite.

S Club has released their first single in 20 years in tribute to their bandmate Paul Cattermole, who died in April at the age of 46. The single, titled "These Are the Days," honors Cattermole, and the song's music video sees the band look through a photo album full of memories of their career.
The group, formerly called S Club 7 but later rebranded S Club, felt Cattermole's presence when shooting the video. "There was a butterfly. We were all sat down and a butterfly came from nowhere. It was a really bright, beautiful butterfly which flew down and went off," Tina Barrett told The Sun. "I don't know why, but I just thought, 'That's Paul.' It came from nowhere." Rachel Stevens added: "There's little signs of Paul everywhere. On the video shoot, there was a vinyl coaster and it said 'Good Times' on it.

They made a legitimate claim to the classic rock throne in the 1970s, but Pink Floyd’s discography spanned decades. Many listeners misunderstood their biggest hit, and while the songs might be open to interpretation, the order of Pink Floyd’s albums is set and stone.
The five Pink Floyd members created 15 studio albums
Aside from a few early concerts, Pink Floyd only operated as a quartet. Still, the shadow of Syd Barrett loomed over the band for years, even after they moved on without him.
Barrett put Pink Floyd on the map as the singer, primary songwriter, and lead guitarist. He and bandmates Roger Waters (bass), Richard Wright (keyboards), and Nick Mason (drums) established themselves as the flagship band for psychedelic underground London in 1967.
