While in Austin at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival, I had the opportunity to catch up with a variety of folks responsible for the modern cult classic Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, which celebrated its 10th anniversary with several screenings as part of the fest’s midnight lineup. Those on hand for the interview included co-writer/director Scott Glosserman, co-writer/producer David J. Stieve, star Nathan Baesel, and co-star Ben Pace.
As it turns out, when you get a group of filmmakers who also happen to be great friends together in one room for an interview, things can get a little nutty. That being said, we have some great highlights from Daily Dead’s in-depth chat with the gang behind one of the more boundary-pushing genre films of the last several decades, including the risk involved with making Behind the Mask, the legacy of Leslie Vernon, how they...

At 18 years old, Will Wahl is the youngest person ever to compete on Survivor, but he most definitely did not want to be seen as a “kid” in the eyes of his competitors.
“They didn’t look at me like I was a player,” Wahl tells People of why he began playing hard in his final days on the CBS reality show. “I wanted to prove to them that I was worthy of winning.”

Taylor spilled all sorts of tea about his pal Jay during Tribal Council on Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-x, virtually guaranteeing that Jay-Bird would be the third consecutive millennial targeted by the other castaways. But Jay lucked out because loose lips began sinking ships left and right, and the Gen-Xers dealt with internal fissures that had all the power players preoccupied. On the downside, Jay's idol became public knowledge, but on the upside, he had the balls to not use it and then won individual immunity.
Will ditched Jay like a bad habit and realigned with fellow "Geek Squad" members Hannah and Zeke. And while Chris was plotting against Jessica, the nerd herd joined forces with David, Jessica and Ken to blindside Chris. But after Chris' exit, all holy Hell broke loose when Zeke and David decided to take each other out, resulting in a chaotic Tribal Council that...

Safe to say Chris Hammons’ Thanksgiving dinner came with a side of humble when last week‘s episode of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X revealed that he was one of two players ousted in back-to-back episodes.
The 38-year-old Oklahoman thought he had a solid alliance with Millennial player Zeke, only to be blindsided by the fellow Boomer Sooner — though Zeke isn’t necessarily the competitor Chris blames for his sudden ejection from the game.
Find out which castaway convinced Zeke to make the move Hammons deems a “mistake,” how it was to watch the intense next tribal council from...

It’s Thanksgiving and I’m thankful for this week’s Double episode of Survivor. Taylor Lee Stocker was more known on Survivor for his showmance with Figgy and hiding a secret stash of food, but the snowboard instructor promises there is more to him than meets the eye.
“I was playing up the whole dumb snowboarder,” Stocker told People Thursday after being eliminated on Wednesday night’s episode of the CBS reality show.
Now back in Spokane, Washington, the 24-year-old — who will soon welcome a son with a girl he was dating before competing on Survivor — reflects on his showmance, strategy and how the decision to hide food may have ultimately led to his elimination.

The merge episode of Survivor is always interesting, and the previous episode of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-x proved just that. Zeke led a mostly Gen-x alliance to get rid of Michelle, a safe target instead of bigger threats like Taylor and Jay. But now those two are at the bottom and they have to figure out a way to work themselves back in. Will they be able to do it? Let's find out in "Still Throwin' Punches."...

Michelle Schubert won fans over after orchestrating one of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X ‘s first blindsides of the season. But when she was marked as a threat, the missionary recruiter from Wakima, Washington, decided to lie low when the tribes merged together and quickly became victim to a blindside herself on Wednesday’s episode.
“I believe that my downfall was my decision to go silent,” Schubert, 28, tells People of being eliminated.
Now Schubert reflects on her gameplay, bonding with her fellow Millennials and why she was shocked to be considered one of the “cool kids” on the island.
