Sabelo Ndumo

Sabelo Ndumo received his Honours degree in live performance and motion picture medium from AFDA Johannesburg in 2015.
After receiving the AFDA award for best lead actor in a short film and being nominated for the best male performer in theatre, Sabelo Ndumo went on to subsequently make his first appearance in two South African Afrikaans television series' "Getrout met
Rugby" and "Roer jou voete". This was followed up by his film debut in Can Themba's short story turned film "The Suit", where
he acted alongside veteran and Tony-award winning actor John Kani (Black Panther, Lion King) and his son, Atandwa Kani
(Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Black Panther). The film would go on to win a SAFTA for the best short film, Best International
Short at the BronzeLens film festival of Atlanta in 2017, Best of the festival at the Urbanworld Film Festival, the Audience Choice Award at the Shnit International Short Film Festival, and received a special mention at the LA Pan-African Film Festival. Sabelo has had supporting roles in the 2017 SAFTA Film-Made-For-TV winner, "Okae Molao" and the German kids Series titled "Dandelion" in 2019. The Soweto-born actor has also landed lead roles in numerous South African television commercials for KFC, Miway insurance, and CTM. Sabelo also works behind the camera, making his debut as a producer while acting and devising a physical theatre piece titled "2-4rm" in 2016 under the direction and mentorship of South African award-winning director Prince Lamla. His recent work involves his portrayal of Ukhathalo, the antagonist in a 2020 Student Academy Award-winning and BAFTA LA nominated film titled "Umama" directed by NYU graduate, Talia Smith.
