Cara Hunter is a director, writer, and editor. Her directorial debut was the short film Unconscious Skies, Cara Hunter is an independent filmmaker from Columbus, Georgia. She is the daughter of Roderick Hunter and Stephanie Hunter, the sister of Ross Hunter, Matt Hunter, Ruth Hunter and Jimmy Hunter. She began acting from an early age in theatre until attending Brookstone High school, where in addition to acting she began directing student plays and upper school musicals. She is an Honor member of the National Thespian Society and founder of T.O.P Arts, a theatre outreach program for the Boys and Girls Club.
Hunter got into filmmaking with grass roots projects for teens, such as State Farm's Driving Awareness PSA, public service such as F.I.R.E. (Feminism Inspires Real Equality), a documentary with Columbus, Georgia's Mayor Teresa Tomlinson, and documentary short, Thinking Caps. In 2015, Hunter was selected to compete in the All American High School Film Invitational, where she is credited with with the film Unconscious Skies (2015) which has been screened at the AMC 25 in Times Square, and at the Carmike 13 Theatre Premiere event, in Columbus, Georgia where well over 2,000 dollars was raised for Hope Harbor, A domestic violence shelter for battered women and children. Hunter hopes to continue her education at a university with a strong arts and film program.
