Joshua D. Reed, an Actor hailing from Dallas, TX, discovered his passion for the craft early in life while actively participating in church plays and productions at The Potter's House of Dallas. His commitment to the art deepened as he took on the role of Drama leader in the youth ministry, showcasing his leadership and artistic skills.
Graduating from Life High School in Waxahachie, Joshua distinguished himself in One Act Play competitions, achieving recognition at the state level with accolades such as Best Actor and Best Supporting Role. In 2006, he embarked on a transformative journey through the summer arts program at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, guided by mentors Curtis King and Akin Babatunde. This experience allowed him to hone his talents across various Fine Arts disciplines, leading to engaging in professional performances in productions throughout the season.
Venturing into the realm of Film & Television in 2016, Joshua showcased his versatility by participating in student short films at the University of Texas Arlington, taking part in film festivals across the United States garnering national exposure. Shortly after he made his first appearance on television on the Reelz Channel. In 2019, he secured his first supporting role in the feature film "Tazmanian Devil," premiering at the American Black Film Festival in Miami in 2021. The film also screened at the African American Cinema in Color, Black & White in the 46th season at The Black Academy, adding to its availability on Starz, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime. Later in the season Joshua wrote and starred in a one man show titled "Renaissance Man" directed by Curtis King.
Joshua's most recent projects include a short film titled "Stage Mom" that premiered in the Indie Night Film Festival at The Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. As well as a new feature film titled "Grimy Business" that released on Amazon Prime, Tubi, and Green Apple Entertainment in December of 2023. This year he is in pre-production for a feature film titled "Father Forgive Me" and is eagerly anticipating a successful 2024 and the myriad opportunities it holds for his flourishing career.
