Pat Cooper, the famously fast-talking and angry stand-up comedian who often appeared on Ed Sullivan and Howard Stern’s shows, died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was 93.
Cooper appeared on “Seinfeld” in the Friars Club episode, playing himself. He also appeared with Robert DeNiro in the 1999 film “Analyze This” as Salvatore Masiello and reprised his role in “Analyze That.”
He was a frequent guest host on the Mike Douglas Show in the 1970s, and appeared many times on the Howard Stern show throughout the 1990s and 2000s, where he was known for his cranky persona.
Born Pasquale Caputo to an Italian family in Brooklyn, he started out playing local New York clubs. In 1963, he landed a spot on “The Jackie Gleason Show,” and then began performing at the Copacabana, where he opened for acts including the Four Seasons and Jimmy Roselli.

Some of Donald Trump’s close advisers are calling on top Republicans in Congress to accelerate criminal referrals against President Joe Biden, demanding revenge after Trump became the first former president in history to be indicted.
“Now the House GOP has to continue to investigate the Biden bribes and refer for indictments,” says John McLaughlin, a top Trump pollster. “Just the beginning of the end for the Bidens.”
Michael Caputo, a former Trump official who remains close to the ex-president, says he agrees that the House GOP should accelerate its...

Santa Claus is coming to town… with supposed early access to the Covid-19 vaccine.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump administration official Michael Caputo wanted performers who portray Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and elves to lend their talents to a coronavirus-related ad campaign meant to promote the benefits of the eventual vaccine. In return, the official offered them early access to the vaccine, ahead of the general public. The campaign was funded by $250 million in taxpayer money.
On Friday, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that the campaign would be canceled, and it is now under review by the department. The decision comes as coronavirus cases continue to spike across the U.S., making the possibility of a vaccine before the holiday season unlikely.
Chairman of the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas, Ric Erwin, told the Wall Street Journal that the news was “extremely disappointing” to Santa performers.

You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. I’m telling you why. Santa Claus has early access to the Covid-19 vaccine.
At least, that’s how it would be if Michael Caputo, one of Trump’s Hhs assistant secretaries, had his way. In perhaps one of the strangest plans to come out of this White House, Caputo proposed a $250 million campaign that would give Santa Claus performers access to the coronavirus vaccine before the general public. In exchange, the performers would agree to promote the...

Donald Trump’s recent Covid-19 diagnosis brought all the chaos and contradictions of the pandemic into sharp focus. Between his refusal to protect himself and the people surrounding him and the president’s unequal access to superior medical care, many Americans became even more frustrated by the situation than ever before.
Where did America go so wrong? That’s the question that “Totally Under Control,” the new documentary from Alex Gibney, Suzanne Hillinger and Ophelia Harutyunyan tries to answer.
The filmmakers worked in secret, using an ingenious combination of pandemic-dictated production methods, surprising many when they revealed a month ago that they had completed a feature documentary that was ready to be released before the election.
From bungling getting the first tests up and running to Jared Kushner’s PPE corps of inexperienced volunteers, including Robert Kennedy’s grandson Max Kennedy Jr., the story of how the 2020 pandemic unfolded is...

Update, with Quaid response In an Instagram video post titled, in caps, “No Good Deed Goes Unpoliticized,” actor Dennis Quaid says he’s “feeling some outrage and a lot of disappointment” about reports in “the cancel culture media” regarding his involvement in a public service campaign about Covid-19.
“It was in no way political,” Quaid says in the video, adding that he was not paid for his involvement – he taped an interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci – and that the purpose of the PSA and interview with Fauci was “about raising awareness of Covid-19 and what we can still do to prevent lives being lost to this terrible, terrible virus. It was about the importance of wearing a mask and social distancing.”
The involvement of Quaid and gospel singer Cece Winans was first reported in a Politico article today about a $300 million White House ad campaign touting the Trump Administration’s...

Dennis Quaid and gospel singer CeCe Winans have each taken to social media to clarify the non-political intent of participating in interviews related to Covid-19 and the ongoing pandemic.
According to a report from Politico on Friday, an ad was ordered by President Trump and conceived partly by former Department of Health and Human Services official Michael Caputo with the purpose of defeating “despair” caused by the coronavirus outbreak. The outlet reported that it will feature a number of recorded video interviews with stars, including Quaid and Winans, and administration officials discussing the Trump administration’s response to the virus....

In a disturbing new report from Politico, politically appointed cronies of the president have been interfering and making changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly scientific reports in order to better align with Trump’s publicly stated messages regarding the coronavirus.
Politico’s Friday exclusive cites administration communications aides, including former Trump campaign officer and now assistant secretary for public affairs of the Department of Health and Human Services Michael Caputo — who has no medical or scientific qualifications — sending emails successfully pressuring CDC officials “to change...

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is leading a group of Democratic lawmakers in an investigation of what they describe as “egregious” financial conflicts of interest in the Trump administration’s coronavirus response, citing top officials’ financial stake in companies involved with the all-important effort to find a Covid-19 vaccine.
In two new letters sent to the White House and the Department of Health and Human Services, the lawmakers singled out Dr. Moncef Slaoui, chief adviser to Operation Warp Speed, the administration’s breakneck effort to develop a Covid-19 vaccine or treatment,...

Former foreign policy advisor to President Donald Trump, George “Coffee Boy” Papadopoulos, says he plans to run for Congress only days after he was released from a 12-day prison stay. Papadopoulos was sentenced for lying to the FBI when he was questioned regarding his contacts with foreign officials in the Russian government during the election.
Papadopoulos first told The Daily Telegraph of his intentions Friday and later confirmed the news in a tweet.

Had it not been for Donald Trump smearing George Washington on live TV yesterday, former Trump aide Michael Caputo might well have taken the meltdown of the day honors. “Enough! Enough!” he loudly interrupted a fellow panelist on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 during a discussion of the latest sexual assault allegation against Brett Kavanaugh. “I don’t get invited on here to be called out by you like this!”
Watch the exchange below.
Doing the calling out – as Caputo, a frequent Trump surrogate on CNN, saw it – was USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers. Caputo had started off by asking why accuser Julie Swetnick was attending high school parties when she was a sophomore in college. Why would she wait until now to come forward?
“Yeah,” added a sarcastic Jeffrey Toobin, “and why do these women wear short skirts, aren’t they just asking for it?”

Washington — After she retweeted messages of support for much of Wednesday — a day after “Roseanne’s” stunning cancellation — Roseanne Barr wrote, “You guys make me feel like fighting back. I will examine all of my options carefully and get back to U.”
One of those options could be a new online streaming startup called Bond. Its chief marketing officer, Michael Caputo, former Trump campaign aide, told Variety that the company is in the process of reaching out to the now-former ABC sitcom star in hopes that she will sign on to the venture.
It’s an indication that Barr — who was not just dropped by ABC but by her talent agency, ICM Partners — will have some options, although not necessarily in traditional media. For a new media venture like Bond (first reported by the Daily Beast), even a star in the midst of controversy and condemnation can help drive attention.
