The Flash, as with the other Arrowverse shows, has had to take a month’s break due to the coronavirus pandemic affecting production. However, it will soon return to our screens for the 16th episode of season 6, titled “So Long and Goodnight.” As well as being the one to finally supply us with that Scarlet Speedster content we’ve been craving, the episode is also notable for featuring the return of two familiar characters.
As you can see in the promo images in the gallery below, both Sue Dearbon and Rag Doll will be back for the next installment of the show. Natalie Dreyfuss’ Sue was first introduced in episode 6×12 “A Girl Named Sue,” where she and Ralph quickly formed a bond – even though it turned out she had double-crossed him. No doubt sparks will fly when the pair reunite.

Gorilla Grodd’s coming back to The Flash next week. The intelligent ape has been a fixture of the show since its first season and now it’s time for his annual appearance. But these promo images for the episode, which sports the perfect title “Grodd Friended Me,” reveal that another familiar face from the Flash’s past will make a return, too, in the form of none other than the original Harrison Wells. At least, that’s how it looks.
What with Grodd being a CG creation, the simian supervillain isn’t showcased in these pics. Instead, they tease a confrontation between Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and Wells. With his attire and glasses, this version of the character closely resembles the original Harrison from season 1, who – as we all know – was Reverse-Flash in disguise. That could be what’s happening here, as he does appear to be locking Barry up.

Fans mostly have their sights set on “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” but don’t forget that the various Arrowverse shows have got to hit their big midseason finales before the crossover event kicks off. For The Flash, in particular, the first half of its sixth season will conclude with a dramatic two-parter, titled “The Last Temptation of Barry Allen,” in which the Star Labs gang have to battle Bloodwork and his army. The opening hour is next week, but just to jump the gun, here are some spoiler-free pics from the second part.
Rather than revealing any shocking details about these episodes, the images showcase the various members of Team Flash as they come together to face whatever it is Bloodwork’s about to throw at them. And you can tell from their solemn expressions that things are going to get serious. In particular, our heroes appear to be staring at something pretty intimidating off-camera.

I think it’s safe to say that we were all surprised by how last week’s episode of The Flash concluded. Well, Cicada’s decision to take the metahuman cure wasn’t the biggest of shockers, but the swift arrival of his successor certainly was. And if that weren’t enough, we learned her identity to be that of his niece, Grace Gibbons, somehow aged to adulthood.
If I were to guess, there are two possibilities as to how Grace could’ve claimed the mantle of Cicada: one is that her recently manifested powers awoke her from the coma and aged her by a decade or two. The other would be that she’s still in the coma, but Cicada II is a mental projection. Don’t forget, we got a hint at this several weeks ago when venturing inside of her mind.
No matter which solution proves true,...

Though the season finale is still two months away, there’s certainly much to keep the interest of fans of The Flash in the interim. If the Cicada switcheroo and the upcoming debut of Godspeed aren’t enough to get you geeked, then you should no that the moment we’ve been waiting for will finally arrive next week during “Time Bomb.”
Those who’ve been keeping up with the series are aware of how Nora West-Allen has been in collusion with her father’s archenemy, Eobard Thawne. And once she learned of their history, the alliance has weighed on her conscience. But here’s the kicker: the Reverse-Flash genuinely sounds repentant, so he could actually be helping out.
Odds are we have a while to go before learning if there’s truth to that, but it’s worth mentioning that Nora will finally spill the beans to her parents during next week’s episode.

From the look of it, the producers behind The Flash really put a lot of thought into the trio of episodes currently unfolding. Last night, Cicada willingly took the metahuman cure – only for yet another Cicada to emerge and take his place. And if that weren’t enough, Godspeed finally debuts in 5×18.
Sandwiched in between those is next week’s adventure, that being “Time Bomb.” In case you hadn’t heard, this’ll be when Nora finally reveals to her parents, Barry and Iris, that she’s been in collusion with Eobard Thawne this entire time. And based on what’s been offered in the promo video embedded at the top of the article, it’s the Reverse-Flash himself who encourages her to spill the beans.
If you listen to his voice, there really seems to be a sense of urgency, thereby forcing me to believe that something terrible is indeed on the way.

Aside from the seemingly endless war with Cicada being prolonged, another big part of The Flash‘s fifth season has dealt with the subplot involving Nora West-Allen and Eobard Thawne. Long story short, the Scarlet Speedster’s own daughter has had a secret alliance with his greatest nemesis this entire time. And though Nora’s intentions are pure, it’s entirely possible that she’s being manipulated.
Well, it looks like the moment we’ve been waiting for will arrive in just a few weeks when Nora’s guilty conscience gets the best of her and she spills the beans to her parents. If you were to ask me, this is probably the closest we’ll get to seeing Barry sh#tting a brick on network television. In just a matter of days, we may very well bear witness to one of the most surreal episodes of The Flash to ever air once “Memorabilia” makes its debut. If you’ve been following along with recent news, then you know this is when Barry and Iris will venture inside Nora’s mind – and no doubt uncover her most deeply guarded secrets in the process.
Basically, this all comes about once Nora tries to do the same to Cicada’s niece, Grace, but gets trapped in that girl’s noggin. And after that calamity arises, Xs’ parents must dive into their own daughter’s brain in order to pull her back to reality. You know, they’ve really had to clean up a lot of her messes as of late.

After seeing Cicada getting his ass handed to him for the second time, I imagine it’d be a good idea for him to go into hiding and rethink his game plan. I mean, Killer Frost could easily blast him into oblivion the next time they meet, but the producers need to drag this out until mid-May.
And though the big bad himself may or may not factor into next week’s episode of The Flash, his looming presence will be felt. By that, I’m referring to our heroes attempting to venture into the mind of Cicada’s comatose niece, Grace, only to have the situation go awry when Nora also goes in and seemingly gets stuck. One thing that makes a shared continuity such as the Arrowverse so wonderful is that not only does it yield those massive multi-series crossovers each fall like Crisis on Earth-x, but it means there’s also room for intermingling here and there on a smaller scale. Thus, you may see characters from Arrow making guest appearances on The Flash and vice versa.
Speaking of which, those two series will again be overlapping before long as Arrow‘s David Ramsey will be headed back to Central City for a brief stay in this season’s penultimate episode chronicling the adventures of the Scarlet Speedster. Granted, this isn’t the first time Dig has stopped by, but the dynamic shared between him and Barry Allen is always guaranteed to bring a few smiles.
So, now that this mashup of sorts is one week away, the network feels comfortable enough to release images promoting it.

Clifford DeVoe’s plan to hoover up the powers of all the bus metas he created at the beginning of the season is working – recently, he even possessed the body of Barry Allen’s friend Ralph Dibny Aka Elongated Man, leaving his fate in question. But after weeks of cringing, I was happy to see the show recapture its former glory with the compelling episode that was “Therefore I Am,” before astonishing us all when participating in the Crisis on Earth-x crossover.
To be honest, there’s no doubt in this writer’s mind that the Thinker played a big part in the resurgence of quality. As actor Neil Sandilands was given more screentime, he chilled us to the bone with his nuanced performance as the calculating Clifford DeVoe, thus presenting Team Flash with a threat unlike anything they’d ever seen.
