- Lived in Enfield, North London when he appeared in EastEnders (1985) and was friends with Michelle Ryan.
- Wrote and produced a theatre adaptation of Wuthering Heights in which Heath Ledger appeared. Heath and his sister Kate Ledger are named after the main characters of the Emily Brontë novel. Has also appeared in two films with Heath Ledger, The Patriot (2000) and The Dark Knight (2008).
- Auditioned for Joel Goodsen in Risky Business (1983) but lost out to Tom Cruise. Later became a stand-in for Tom Cruise in Cocktail (1988) when he lived in Toronto in 1988.
- Attended a Raindance film training course in London with Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughn.
- Attended the same high school and and university as Karl Urban in Wellington, New Zealand.
