- Tom Kirdahy graduated valedictorian from New York University (class of 1985) with a B.A. in Politics and Dramatic Literature, then graduated from NYU's School of Law, specializing in Entertainment Law.
- Tom Kirdahy and husband Terrence McNally are one of several sets of spouses to both win Tony Awards. Tom was nominated 6 times, winning twice: 2019 for "Hadestown"(Best Musical), and 2020 for "The Inheritance"(Best Play). His other nominations include: 2010 for "Ragtime"(Revival of a Musical); 2014 for "Mothers and Sons"(Best Play); and "After Midnight"(Best Musical); and 2015 for "The Visit"(Best Musical). Terrence was nominated 8 times, winning 4: 1993 for "Kiss of the Spider Woman"(Book of a Musical); 1995 for "Love! Valour! Compassion!"(Best Play); 1996 for "Master Class"(Best Play); and 1998 for "Ragtime"(Book of a Musical). His other nominations include: 2001 for "The Full Monty"(Book of a Musical); 2014 for "Mothers and Sons"(Best Play); 2015 for "The Visit"(Book of a Musical); and 2019 for "Frankie and Johnny at the Claire du Lune"(Revival of a Play).
- The 2014 production of "Mothers and Sons" marks the first time a legally-wed gay couple were seen on a Broadway stage. Tom and Terrence were originally married in a civil ceremony in Vermont Dec. 20th, 2003. To celebrate the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage for all50 states, they remarried in Washington, D.C. on April 6th, 2010. Tom and Terrence renewed their vows once more, on June 20th, 2015 at New York City Hall which was officiated by Mayor Bill de Blasio.
