Molli Benson is an American actress born in Chicago into a family with an acting lineage. Her grandmother was in Burlesque and her mother was a star in the Ziegfeld Follies. (That was a tough act to follow). She went through a self-proclaimed biker; hippie and surfer phase until she fell off her motorcycle, lived in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco, stayed too long at Woodstock and spotted a shark.
She moved to Los Angeles, CA during the seventies where she attended UCLA and University of Santa Barbara majoring in Psychology. She began her career during this time in the film industry.
However not forgetting her special wish, Molli formed a Country-Western Band. "The Road Band", where she was the lead singer and writer of many of their songs. The band retired 2 years later, as she began working steady in the Industry. In 2015 she co-wrote 4 country-Western songs and geared up to shoot the song "Baby Girl" as a music video.
Home based in Los Angeles, Molli has spent and devoted 42 years of her life in the Film Industry.. Molli has directed, produced and written over 40 Student Films, Shorts and Independent Films. She is the former owner of Union Talent Agency and Specialized Personal Management.
Molli Benson spearheaded the Indie Acting Industry movement. During the eighties she produced the first, Original Televised Star-Studded, "Actors Award Show" (a Benefit for MDA). The Benson Awards Show honored the New Generation of Film and Television Actors.
The love of Molli's life is......working with actors. As an acting coach, she has trained hundreds of actors throughout the United States- often traveling with the legendary Casting Director Mike Fenton. To bring even more creativity and reality to the actors work, she developed "Specialty Acting Workshops" such as the Western On-Location Workshop, the Actors Retreat, a takeoff of the film "The Big Chill" Workshop and the Life Coaching Workshop. Going a step further she added the NASCAR Workshop.
Believing that "Special Skills" are very necessary for Actors, she reached out in different directions for them. She held group & Private Horseback riding lessons, Beginning Trapeze, Dance studio for Basic Tango lessons, Live Country-Western Club for Line dancing, Back-room Stand-up Comedy. For endurance, she wrote a short horror film where the actors worked from 6pm-6am. (A lot of sleeping actors) After a short discussion with them the next day, It was shot it again the following week. (No sleeping actors).
Molli Benson is a versatile acting coach. She has not been limited to coaching film actors exclusively. She has taught court room acting to attorneys. In Denver, former Head Coach, Dan Reeves asked her to work with 4 Players on "Verbal Communication" . In addition she was then asked to direct Quarterback John Elway, in Public Service Announcements.
During the late 1990-2000's, Molli Benson coined the term "organic acting" which is her own specialized style of teaching. By using this original style she enables actors to experience a "free-style" form of acting, that takes the Actors to the highest level that stays with them forever. Molli dedicated a number of years working with the Los Angeles, South Central Gang Recovery center. She has also worked with teenagers involved as "tagger crews". Molli founded and created the Televised Rocky Mountain "Brat Pack" out of Denver, Colorado- an anti-drug awareness campaign.
