Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have revealed a number of exciting new projects in the works, including a new Nine Inch Nails album, a music festival, and their own production company.
The duo spoke to Zach Baron for GQ’s annual Creativity Issue. While much of the interview covers the backstory of Reznor and Ross’ friendship and creative partnership, there are also a few anecdotes about what’s next. Notably, after spending the last several years scoring films, Reznor and Ross seem ready to make a new Nine Inch Nails album.
“I think coming out of a stretch of a number of films in a row, I want some time of seeing where the wind blows versus: There’s a looming date on a calendar coming up and we better get our shit together,” Reznor explained. “And certainly in the last few weeks I’ve been itching to do what we often do,...

There is, of course, the legend that Martin Scorsese’s career nearly ended at Raging Bull: after the disappointments of New York, New York and attendant personal struggles, he (for at least some time) considered the boxing biopic––handled with a “kamikaze” mindset––a fine end of the road. That, of course, did not happen, but we’ve come closer to other retirements than most realize: in a great new GQ profile, Scorsese reveals the one-two punch of Gangs of New York (about which most know Weinstein-inflicted wounds) and The Aviator nearly made him give up. His next movie would nab Best Director and Best Picture Oscars and troubles were averted, but nobody predicted as much at the time.
At nearly 81 the speculation starts again––first with a pre-Cannes Killers of the Flower Moon interview in which Scorsese dwelled on age, then seemingly quelled by news of a couple films he had in development,...

During a wide-ranging and contemplative conversation with GQ, “Killers of the Flower Moon” director Martin Scorsese discussed his thoughts on how the film industry has evolved and where it might go in the future if the only movies that reach theaters are of the blockbuster variety.
“I think there will always be theatrical, because people want to experience this thing together,” Scorsese said. “But at the same time, the theaters have to step up to make them places where people will want to go and enjoy themselves or want to go and see something that moves them.”
When the GQ writer Zach Baron suggested to Scorsese that another issue is the prevalence of comic book movies and franchise properties, the Oscar-winning director agreed. “The danger there is what it’s doing to our culture,” Scorsese said. “Because there are going to be generations now that think movies are only those—that’s what movies are.

Chris Evans isn’t planning on returning to the MCU just yet.
The actor — who played Captain America in 11 Marvel movies over nine years — told GQ of whether he’d ever go back to Marvel: “Yeah, maybe.”
“I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience.”
“I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened.
“And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing… So, no time soon.”

There’s a long, invariably strange GQ profile detailing Harmony Korine’s latest attempts to reinvent the moving image, about which Tbd––calling your company Edglrd and combining moving-image efforts with video-game people and skateboarders: all right!––and whose oddest detail exists as just a stray line of information. Amidst the talk of his company’s multimedia excursions (e.g. letting viewers scan a Qr code and play video games side-by-side with characters in a movie) the writer, Zach Baron, asked Korine if he’ll ever make a “real movie” again. And lo:
It’s possible. Terrence Malick wrote a script that he wants me to direct. It’s a really, really beautiful script. Ryan Gosling discussed how him playing Ken in “Barbie” came about in a new interview with GQ’s summer issue.
The Canadian actor and actress Eva Mendes — whom he’s been dating for over 10 years now — welcomed their first daughter, Esmeralda, in 2014, before welcoming their second daughter Amada two years later in 2016.
When speaking about how he ended up taking a role in the upcoming “Barbie” flick, Gosling admitted it was partly down to his daughters playing with Barbies and Ken.

It’s safe to say that Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie has already become something of a phenomenon online — and it doesn’t even hit theaters until July 21. There were those paparazzi pics from Venice Beach, then a trailer followed by a series of cast posters and most recently, a dance single from the film’s pop superstar Dua Lipa, to name but a few of the film’s viral moments.
There’s another one — the trending #NotMyKen backlash to the casting of Ryan Gosling as Ken opposite Margot Robbie’s Barbie — and that’s what the actor has just opened up about in a new GQ cover story. There were online critics who questioned whether Gosling was perhaps too old or too weathered to play the role, but he says haters never cared in the first place.

New Delhi, April 4 (Ians) Apple CEO Tim Cook does not want people to use iPhones too much as the company is not “incentivised” for that, but rather empower them to use the devices to perform things they could not do earlier.
Cook, who appeared on the cover page of GQ for its first-ever ‘Global Creativity Awards’ issue, said that “we make technology to empower people to be able to do things they couldn’t do, to create things they couldn’t create, to learn things they couldna¿t learn”.
“And I mean, that’s really what drives us. We don’t want people using our phones too much. We’re not incentivised for that. We don’t want that.”
Cook is among four GQ cover stars and eight honourees total that the publication will honour for using innovation to create meaningful change driven by positive, people-first values.
“We feel privacy is a basic human right.

Every role is designed for Leonardo DiCaprio, according to Christian Bale.

Coppola and Al Pacino on location in Italy for "The Godfather" in 1971. (Photo: Paramount.)

You can't browse the web or pick up a magazine lately without encountering an interview with Francis Ford Coppola. With the 50th anniversary of "The Godfather" at hand, he's very much back in the spotlight after keeping a low profile for many years. Coppola, as we all know, we elevated from relative obscurity to international acclaim on the basis of "The Godfather" despite the fact that Paramount had little confidence in the film and didn't care for Coppola's artistic vision, which was most definitely not the boilerplate gangster flick the studio had in mind. The film won the Best Picture Oscar and became the highest grossing movie in history. Two years later, Coppola had a dual triumph with the release of "The Conversation" and "The Godfather Part II", another film he wasn't initially keen on being involved with.

Is Robert Pattinson’s latest interview, in which he demonstrates how to make his own fast food pasta dish and winds up setting off a lightning storm in his microwave, for real or perhaps a brilliant piece of performance art?
Even the author of his GQ cover story isn’t totally sure. Though Pattinson talks somewhat in the piece about “Tenet,” “The Batman” and his career after “Twilight,” the highlight is a lengthy section in which writer Zach Baron describes Pattinson’s attempt to cook an interesting dish.
“I wish I could tell you whether what I’m about to describe here is a bit, or a piece of performance art, or is in fact sincere–even now, I don’t totally know,” Baron writes.

Box office tracking for the upcoming weekend has come in (via Variety) and shows James Gray’s space epic “Ad Astra” opening between $18 million and $20 million during its box office debut, a solid number made somewhat troubling because the film cost over $80 million to produce. In today’s Hollywood landscape, opening weekend box office grosses go a long way in defining the film as a breakout success (see “Hustlers” last weekend) or a disastrous flop. For Brad Pitt, judging movies based on box office debuts is a mistake. Speaking to GQ, the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Ad Astra” actor said he’s more interested in the longevity of his films than by their debut grosses.
Asked by GQ journalist Zach Baron how he will gauge the success of “Ad Astra,” Pitt responded, “Well, for the financiers, whether it be studio or independent, that will be monetary. And most of our films,...
