Exclusive: Another step is being taken in Broadway’s efforts to confront its own systemic racism: Broadway & Beyond, founded by stage and production managers of Hadestown, Frozen and Aladdin, has scheduled its first event to encourage and support young or aspiring stage managers of color.
Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon will introduce a panel discussion and Q&a with professionals from Broadway, national tours, and regional theaters across the country as Broadway & Beyond kicks off its virtual event, set for Thursday, Dec. 17. The panel will feature production supervisors, stage managers and general managers representing organizations including Disney Theatrical Productions, Bespoke Theatricals, Foresight Theatrical, Rci Theatricals, Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre, St. Louis’ Muny, Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, among others.

Anyone who loves romance books already knows the snobbish disparaging the genre is subjected to, and those contrary examples — Arnie and mysteries — come straight from writers and readers in the delightful Love Between the Covers, the first feature from documentarian Laurie Kahn. These are women who are proud of the fiction they love...

The St. Louis International Film Festival has announced the films nominated for the Awfj Eda Awards.
Awfj will partner once again with Sliff to recognize the Best Female-Directed Narrative Feature and Best Female-Directed Documentary. The 24th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival will be held Nov. 5-15, 2015. Check out the full lineup here.
