Despite its recent fumbles with the community, 2024 is turning out to be an outstanding year for PlayStation, thanks to the amazing gaming experiences that the platform constantly provides its players with. From Helldivers 2 to Stellar Blade, there’s no shortage of excellent titles on the console, but things have been quiet when it comes to Sony’s first-party studios. What are developers like Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch up to?
Fortunately, it seems like Sony’s gearing up for its PlayStation Showcase, which may be coming sooner than expected.

After the confirmation that Xbox would be shutting down four different studios from Bethesda, like Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin, the creators of Redfall and Hi-Fi Rush suffered the first consequences, but according to several reports by an industry specialist, the gaming brand from Microsoft still has some projects that may suffer the same fate in the near future.
Jeff Grubb from Giantbomb confirmed that the studio behind Perfect Dark is not in the best stage of development; it appears that the studio doesn’t know what to do.
The Initiative Could Be Suffering the Same Fate as these Other Studios The Initiative has a complicated future ahead.
It appears that the industry is not putting an end to the wave of layoffs that has been happening since last year. Since the start of 2024, various gaming studios worldwide have lost nearly 10,000 jobs. Xbox has just shut down four more studios.

After successfully bringing back Dead Space from cold storage, it would seem like a no brainer that EA and developer Motive would get to work on a remake of Dead Space 2. However, according to a new rumour, that may not be in the cards.
According to insider Jeff Grubb (who reported on the original remake’s existence prior to its announcement), on his Game Mess Mornings show, Grubb stated that Motive was working on concepts for Dead Space 2, but that work was ultimately shelved due to lackluster sales of the remake. EA Motive has in turn shifted work to Iron Man and Battlefield Universe.
However, per IGN, EA has responded to the rumour, stating that “We don’t normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story.”
Adding a twist to all of this is that EA hasn’t actually reported the sales numbers for the Dead Space remake.

EA recently announced that developer Motive Studio will be assisting in the development of the Battlefield franchise while continuing their work on an upcoming Iron Man game. Fans of that studio quickly realized that many of the people involved with Motive’s critically acclaimed 2023 Dead Space remake are now seemingly working on at least one of those two other projects. Yet, EA made no mention of the Dead Space 2 remake that Motive was reportedly supposed to be working on. That notable lack of information caused Dead Space fans to fear the worst.
Now, Jeff Grubb is reporting that Motive has essentially shelved their previously planned Dead Space 2 remake for a reason that has long haunted the Dead Space franchise like so many Necromorphs: disappointing sales.
“They were working on Dead Space 2, and they are no longer working on it,” said Grubb during a recent podcast regarding Motive’s upcoming projects.

Ever since its announcement in late 2021, the remake of the legendary action role playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, there has been almost nothing but bad news. Despite multiple rumors of its cancellation, fans have been assured that at least a handful of developers are actively working on it. We don’t know how much of the game has been reworked since its switch to a new studio or how much progress has even been made. All that we know is...

Star Wars: KotOR Remake was officially announced in 2021 during the PlayStation Showcase and is currently in development at Saber. Sony shocked fans when it removed the trailer for the game from its YouTube channel, which it later addressed, saying it was due to an expired music license.
There were also speculations that the game might be dead. However, Saber Interactive’s CEO Matthew Karch recently said that the game is “alive and well,” but it seems like it may not be interesting enough for the investors as an insider claims that Sie has moved on from the project.

Well, here's news you don't see every day.
Director Scott Derrickson and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill, the same horror filmmaking duo that gave us "Sinister" (read /Film's oral history here) and "The Black Phone," have confirmed their next project: "The Night of the Hunter," adapted from the 1953 novel by Davis Grubb. The project is being developed at Universal.
"The Night of the Hunter" follows Harry Powell, a faux-preacher, and misogynistic serial killer, in the 1930s Ohio River Valley. After Powell is arrested for stealing a car (from one of his brides-turned-victims), his cellmate is Ben Harper, who's on death row for armed robbery/homicide. Harper hid the stolen money in his daughter Pearl's doll, intending it to be her and his son John's birthright, and took that secret to his grave. Once Powell is walking free, however, he makes his way to the Harper family, seducing Ben's widow Willa so...

Star Wars fans are disappointed with the cancellation of EA and Respawn’s Fps title based around the Mandalorian, due to layoffs and other cost-cutting strategies, it paved the way for the Titanfall universe to make a comeback.
Titanfall launched back in 2014 where it features first-person combat and was just a multiplayer title until Respawn worked on Titanfall 2 released in 2016, no mainline follow-up was released since then and fans are hoping for a third sequel, which may not be the case.
The Upcoming Titanfall Could Feature Some Ideas Of Respawn’s Cancelled Star Wars Game The Mandalorian could have fit in a Titanfall game.

Sony just confirmed that there will not be any “major” launches in games for the PS5 until 2025. But this does not mean that there will be no games at all. Some low-profile titles could launch this year, aside from Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade.
According to some new information, you could have another game of a very dear Sony IP, Astro. This could mean that some games with lower budgets will be coming this year. All this is thanks to the latest Giant Bomb podcast.

PlayStation has been the unchallenged king of consoles for quite some time. But that doesn’t mean Sony will show its hand even a second before it’s necessary. They have a reputation for dragging on releases and keeping them secret, all the while fuelling more rumors.
During the last State of Play, Sony announced a host of new games that are set to come to consoles sometime this year. With over 15 games announced, fans were thrilled. But if recent rumors are believed to be true, then PlayStation is keeping their cards close to their chests as apparently more games are on the way from established IPs which have not been announced by Sony so far.

Nobody knew what to make of "Night of the Hunter" when it screened in 1955. Directed by actor Charles Laughton from a script by James Agee, it broke every rule in the book. It's a fairy tale that's nastier and more adult than anything Disney could produce. It's a black-and-white film made at a time when color movies were coming into vogue. Famous actor Robert Mitchum plays one of the scariest villains in film history. There's a stretch in the middle that swings into magical realism, and the end is a Christmas movie. "Night of the Hunter" was so hated by critics at its release that Laughton decided never to make another film. These days it's heralded as not just one of the greatest pictures of its era, but one so miraculous in its construction (despite its foibles) that it might as well be a UFO.
Many have lauded Charles Laughton as the film's guiding genius,...

New Delhi, Sep 6 (Ians) Natural gas is the main driver of electricity prices across Europe. In the UK, in recent years it has set electricity costs as much as 84 per cent of the time, despite providing well under half of the total electricity, a research published by Ucl has confirmed.
As a result, energy company revenues have increased from about 15 billion pound in 2019 to roughly double in 2021 and likely to over 50 billion pound in 2022.
In two papers being published on Monday, researchers outline reasons why, despite the advance of relatively cheap renewable energy, electricity prices have rapidly risen across Europe alongside the increased cost of natural gas.
They identify the structure of the wholesale electricity market as the main driver of excessive prices, and are developing solutions to change this.
Professor Michael Grubb (Ucl Institute for Sustainable Resources), who is leading the research, said: “Fossil fuels used to be cheaper than renewable energy sources,...
