The Pocket Film of Superstitions opens with a title card that reads “The Following Moving Picture Presentation May Contain Scenes of Irreverence”, and irreverent is a very apt way to describe the latest film from writer/director Thomas Lee Rutter.
It’s shot with the visual stylings of an old silent movie complete with the blue tint they used to indicate a night scene and the occasional title card. But it isn’t a silent film, there are sound effects and occasional short exchanges of dialogue. But most of the information is relayed to the viewer via narration by Shend, which is probably the best choice for a film like this.
That’s because The Pocket Film of Superstitions is, for all intents and purposes,...

An anthology of tales paying the ultimate homage to the 70/80s Video Nasty Tromaesque-era, from a team of some of the best writers/directors in the lower budget UK horror scene. A carefully curated selection of shorts all with varying degrees of depravity broken up by a wrap around story of the Video Dungeon, all delightfully introduced by Brit Scream Queen royalty Dani Thompson (putting in a number of roles throughout). Anthology movies do seem to be making somewhat of a comeback as of late and have a bit of a tendency of “trying too hard...

Mask of the Devil, the third feature from director Richard Rowntree and co-writer Matthew Davies after Dogged and Nefarious, opens in 1878 somewhere in West Africa. A group of Englishmen led by Captain Ladrao (Geoff Woodman) and Colonel Voleur attack a group of tribesmen in order to steal a sacred mask and in doing so unleash something best left alone.
In the present Mary (Nicole Katherine Riddell; White Sky) is upset because her boyfriend won’t put out because God wouldn’t approve and her father treats her like a child. Deciding to get a job so she can move out she ends up working for Roosh a filmmaker of the adult variety. His current production is a Tarzan parody, and one of the props is a familiar-looking mask.

Wassup, wassup, wassup! It’s been almost 30 years since the sitcom Martin debuted on Fox in August 1992, and 25 years since it said farewell in the May 1997 series finale. Martin: The Reunion, a revealing 90-minute special on BET+, reunites the original cast — Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne II — on the series’ living room set to laugh and reminisce. “It was magical. It felt like somebody was going to hand us a script and we were going to start working. We had so much fun,” says Campbell who played Gina, the sensible girlfriend-then-wife of deejay Martin Payne (Lawrence). Just one of the many funny behind-the-scenes secrets that come out in the special, was a performance choice Campbell made in Season 1 (but later dropped). Gina was supposed to be “the perfect girlfriend” and the actress says she didn’t think her Newark accent was right for that — so...

Did Martin Payne and Gina Waters Payne live happily ever after Martin ended? Their actors certainly think so. Stars Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell predicted what they think their characters from the classic '90s sitcom would be up to in 2022 on E! News Daily Pop. "Having a lot of babies with Martin," Campbell exclusively told Daily Pop's Francesca Amiker. "We would have had a lot of kids. Lot of kids running around." The 1997 series finale saw the married couple depart their friends in Detroit—including Cole Brown (Carl Anthony Payne II) and Pamela James (Tichina Arnold)—for Los Angeles. Campbell's onscreen hubby (Lawrence), agreed, adding, "I...
