- Shanea Strachan, was born in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas. A performer since childhood, she started ballet at the young age of 5. Shanea was born a gifted poet and writer and began writing at the age of 8. Her roots in entertainment started out in music. Throughout her childhood into her teenage years, she performed in several girl groups including a Female Rap Group with her childhood best friend. Shanea's childhood dream was Acting and at the age of 11, she taught herself how to screenwrite.
In High School Shanea became involved in the Drama Club and in 2008, she took the lead as Merline Evans in Freeport Players Guild's Production of Telcine Turner's 'Woman Take Two'. High School also nurtured Shanea's love for Filmmaking. During her senior year, with just a camcorder and several friends, she directed and produced her first short film, 'Bad Bet' which she created to raise awareness for Teenage Pregnancy.
After graduating High School at the age of 16, Shanea left her home in the Bahamas in pursuit of her dreams. She enrolled at Northeast Community College as a Broadcasting: Television & Radio major. She competed in Forensics (Speech & Debate) during her two years at Northeast, traveling across the country and winning over a dozen trophies for her work as an interpretive performer. She was also involved in Theatre and worked as a Radio DJ for KHWK/Hawk TV.
After obtaining her Associate's Degree, Shanea enrolled at New Mexico Highlands University where she later graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Arts: Video & Audio Production, becoming the first Bahamian to graduate from the University. It was during her studies at Highlands that Shanea was able to focus on her love of Acting. She co-wrote, produced, and acted in the Pilot episode of the web series 'Life Is Clay'.
In 2014, Shanea relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico to pursue her career in acting. She was featured in numerous independent projects, earning her a SAG-AFTRA eligibility. Shanea has worked as a background actor on several major television shows such as The CW's The Messengers & NBC's The Night Shift, along with feature films for Paramount Pictures & 20th Century Fox.
In 2016, Shanea relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked for one year in the Georgia Film Industry. She has appeared on an episode of Lee Daniel's FOX show STAR and BET's The Quad. In 2017, she returned home to The Bahamas and began working for the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas where she produced original content for Bahamian television. Shanea later went on to pursue her Master of Arts in Producing Film and Television from Bournemouth University in Bournemouth, England.
Today, Shanea dedicates her time to writing and producing content. Her passion lies in telling untold stories and creating impactful and inspiring content that addresses social and human issues with the aim to educate, inspire, and entertain.
