Appearing on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" (via Variety), actor Jacob Elordi -- who plays Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla" -- admitted that, prior to portraying the King of Rock and Roll, he only really knew the music legend from ... "Lilo & Stitch." Amusing as that is, truth be told, Disney's beloved animated 2002 sci-fi feature was probably how many members of Generation Z came to learn about The King's existence for the first time, some 20 years before Elordi donned his iconic bell-bottomed white jumpsuit for Coppola's memoir and Austin Butler (permanently?) altered his voice to rock out in Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis."
In case you need your memory jogged, the original "Lilo & Stitch" sees the titular alien Stitch getting a crash course in Elvis' history from his newfound companion, the oddball young Native Hawaiian girl Lilo, resulting in various montages scored to Elvis tunes like...

The SAG-AFTRA strike has shut down scores of film and TV productions as actors hit the picket line. While many sets had already shut down as a result of the WGA writers strike, the actors strike will effectively slow Hollywood down to a crawl as negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers continue.

Disney is currently shooting its latest live-action adaptation, Lilo & Stitch, down in Ohau, Hawaii. While the cast includes names like Zach Galifianakis, newcomer Maia Kealoha, and Courtney B. Vance, a number of the animated original’s voice actors are also on the island filming smaller roles. That’s now confirmed to include Jason Scott Lee, who played David Kawena in 2002’s Lilo & Stitch.
Rumors that Lee would be making an appearance in the live-action remake have been around for a few months, but the actor himself finally confirmed it during an appearance on the latest episode of the Kyle Meredith With… podcast. What’s more, he actually spoiled his role, so consider this your warning if you want to keep Lee’s appearance a surprise.

Deadline has reported that Disney has found their Cobra Bubbles for the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch in Emmy-winner Courtney B. Vance.
The original Lilo & Stitch film told the story of a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo and an extraterrestrial dog-like creature known as Experiment 626. He’s soon given the name Stitch after being adopted by Lilo. Although Stitch is a force of chaos and destruction, he eventually develops a close bond with Lilo. Together, the pair avoid the pursuing aliens who have been dispatched to capture him. The film spawned several direct-to-video sequels as well as a couple of TV shows. Cobra Bubbles was a former CIA agent turned social worker in the animated movie. The role was originally voiced by Ving Rhames.

Stitch, naturally, will be a CG confection. Dean Fleischer Camp, the filmmaker behind indie darling and best animated feature Oscar nominee Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, is directing the remake that is intended to be a major release on Disney+.
The Hawaii-centric story tells of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who was genetically engineered to be a force of destruction. It’s been revealed that newcomer Maia Kealoha will play Lilo in Disney’s upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch remake. The news was first reported by Knight Edge Media and later confirmed by THR.
Maia Kealoha has no acting credits to her name, so landing a leading role in a major Disney movie will make for quite the debut. The original Lilo & Stitch film told the story of a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo and an extraterrestrial dog-like creature known as Experiment 626. Maia Kealoha’s film career will hit the ground running. Deadline has confirmed that the newcomer has been cast as Lilo in Lilo & Stitch, Disney+’s live-action version of the Hawaii-set 2002 animated pic.
Kealoha’s casting is reminiscent of another Polyneisa-centric Disney film, 2016’s Moana, in which Hawaii-born then-newcomer Auli’i Cravalho was chosen to voice the lead character from the fictional island of Motunui.
Dean Fleischer Camp — fresh off an Oscar nom for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On — will direct the film, which also stars Zach Galifianakis. It follows the relationship between a lonely girl named Lilo and Stitch, an alien engineered to be a force of destruction.
Chris Kekaniokalani Bright scripted the new film, from a previous draft by Mike Van Waes. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce for Rideback, with Ryan Halprin exec producing for the company.
