Joan Suntrup
- Producer
Suntrup was born into a large family in St. Louis, Missouri. After completing her History degree with a minor in English at Framingham State College in Massachusetts, her career took her from Boston back to her hometown. Here she followed in the footsteps of her father's success at the Suntrup Automotive Group. Her immediate initiatives were to further business development and to focus on enhancing the customer experience. With this mandate before her, Suntrup defined new strategies for improving quality of service, raising customer satisfaction, and improving customer retention to generate repeat business and support overall business growth.
Not one to sit back and take pause, Suntrup continued to conceptualize, plan, and launch customer service departments for four separate auto dealerships staffing over 200 employees. She successfully managed concurrent operations focused on high-level customer service and care and attained the Volvo Dealer of Excellence Award for 4 consecutive years, ranking as the #3 dealership in the country. Suntrup also oversaw sales of extended warranties, loans, insurance, and other major products which boosted revenues to over $1 million per year. She was recognized as one of the Top 5 out of 50 car agency business managers in the Greater St. Louis Area.
But given her rising star in the auto dealership world, Suntrup also had an artistic side to fulfill. Inspired by her love of history, language, movies, and storytelling - she had an insatiable desire for creative writing. The longing to express herself in other ways and formats compelled Suntrup to redirect her focus and to pursue what fed her soul. Having found immediate success by having her book of poetry published, she began to expand her writing skills into songwriting and screenplays.
She has recently set up shop as a professional wordsmith and has officially embarked on a new and exciting career path. Her current writing projects include several motion-picture screenplays and the development of a network television series. These ventures are primarily based on actual people and true events, an area of storytelling which Suntrup finds both intriguing and inspirational. In addition to these exciting projects, her songs are currently being recorded with the collaboration of friends, and a major novel is being planned for the future, too.
Other notable aspects in Suntrup's flourishing career include an exclusive assignment to present English as a Second Language (ESL) classes using special course curricula to international clients at the FBI center, including undergoing specialized training and achieving special clearance.
Suntrup is also an active member of the St. Louis Writers Guild and Amnesty International. She resides in St. Louis where she enjoys her nineteen nieces and nephews, her six siblings, their spouses and her parents.
