Exclusive: Taylor Kitsch and Kate Mara are among the cast of a new scripted biker gang audio series.
The Waco star and House of Cards star are lending their voices to Koz, a scripted podcast series that tells the true story of Special Agent Darrin Kozlowski, who spent two decades climbing the ranks of the most ruthless biker gangs in America, all while working undercover for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
The series, which launches on September 15, has been ordered by Audible as part of a multi-project slate deal with podcast studio At Will Media.
Koz uses a mix of interviews with the real-life Darrin “Koz” Kozlowski and dramatized reenactments. Xander Berkeley (The Walking Dead) and Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley) also star in the series, which was written by Rob Fresco (Ray Donovan), directed by Scott Ellis (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and executive produced by At Will Media’s Will Malnati,...

Summer’s not just the time for big family vacations, y’know. Though it’s five months away from Valentine’s Day, couples still want that romantic quiet getaway. And that’s just how this week’s new movie release begins. And as with many outings, well things don’t go as planned. Usually, it’s fodder for a zany slapstick comedy, or a tender love story, or the beginning of a nightmare, And considering that the producers are tauting the lead actress’s most recent, popular work, you can figure out that we’re taking a trip into terror. We’re right by her character’s side as she tries to find out why her partner has Gone In The Night.
Oh, the lady in question is a hydroponics expert and plant shop owner Kath (Winona Ryder). We first encounter her as she steers her station wagon through dark forest trails,...

This film was originally reviewed out of SXSW 2022 under its previous title, “The Cow.”
In writer-director Eli Horowitz’s labyrinthine, mostly unpredictable thriller “Gone in the Night,” becoming increasingly risk-adverse is one clear symptom of getting older.
Part unlikely friendship tale and part potpourri of genre tropes orchestrated as a parade of red herrings, this debut feature takes on modern culture’s blatant disdain of aging and veneration of youth.
It begins with a common sequence: two people driving on an empty tree-lined road. They are, of course, heading toward an isolated destination in the middle of nowhere. Middle-aged hydroponics expert Kath (Winona Ryder) and her younger, man-child boyfriend Max (an amusingly annoying John Gallagher Jr.) have decided on an impromptu getaway to a rented forest abode as part of an ongoing dynamic in which he constantly dares her to be more adventurous.

A tricky narrative requires deft execution, something that turns out to be well beyond the capabilities of “Gone in the Night.” Presented at SXSW earlier this year as “The Cow,” writer-director Eli Horowitz’s first feature has a wide-eyed Winona Ryder as a woman taken back when her boyfriend goes Awol from a weekend getaway.
What at first looks like a standard missing-person suspense tale turns out to have a more complicated agenda — but it is so haphazardly advanced and clumsily articulated, the film itself seems to be fumbling around for a cohering structure or mood. Vertical Entertainment opens the indie feature on July 15; its star’s renewed visibility via the new Netflix’s “Stranger Things” is likely to lend more of a boost in eventual home-formats release.

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has prevailed in a bidding war surrounding SXSW thriller The Cow—landing worldwide rights to the film starring Winona Ryder (Stranger Things) and John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), and slating it for an exclusive theatrical release later this year.
In the film directed by Homecoming co-creator Eli Horowitz, Kath (Ryder) and her boyfriend (Gallagher Jr.) arrive at a remote cabin in the redwoods, only to discover that a mysterious younger couple is already there. The rental has apparently been double-booked, and with nowhere else to go, they decide to share the cabin with these strangers. When her boyfriend disappears with the young woman, Kath becomes obsessed with finding an explanation for their sudden breakup—but the truth is far stranger than she could have ever imagined.
The Cow also stars Dermot Mulroney (The Courier), Owen Teague (It franchise) and Brianne Tju (47 Meters Down). Horowitz and Matthew Derby wrote the script,...

AMC could be taking a trip to Christmasland in the future. Back in December of 2015, it was revealed that the network was considering developing a TV series based on Joe Hill's supernatural novel NOS4A2, and today AMC announced that it has opened a writers' room for NOS4A2 and two other projects.
Led by Jami O'Brien (Hell on Wheels), who, along with Joe Hill, will serve as an executive producer on the series should it move forward, NOS4A2 is now being developed in the aforementioned writers' room.
O'Brien and her team will work together to write scripts for multiple episodes and a framework for the first season, and if AMC likes the concept and story that O'Brien and company come up with, NOS4A2 could be ordered to series.
