Shanks Rajendran is a documentary filmmaker. Film-making has always been Shanks's passion, focusing on making documentaries that explore issues like poverty, deprivation, failures and success within specific communities and society at large. Shanks's objective in all his documentaries is to give the subject - the people, the events, the place - the opportunity to speak for themselves, and about themselves. Building his brand through YouTube, he traveled to United States and filmed a documentary series based in Miami, Liberty City titled "Liberty City - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Shanks filmed the five part series within 25 days and had an overwhelming reception on YouTube. He was featured on Huffington Post, Miami New Times and was offered job opportunities with HBO, Vice and various other major networks. Shanks Rajendran moved from Melbourne, Australia to Los Angeles, USA in February 2013. He started production of his first feature length documentary titled "Los Scandalous - Skid Row" in March 2013, a project that took him 14 months of painstaking work to complete. There was drama and controversy surrounding his documentary. Shanks Rajendran was robbed in Downtown (Skid Row) on the first night he went out to shoot. His documentary also contains high level of drug usage and illegal activity. His first feature length documentary is labeled as a detailed expose of the homeless capital of The United States - Skid Row.
