Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for Renault (1984 (1 GP)), Ligier (1985 (5 GPs)), Tyrrell (1986-1987) and AGS (1988 (15 GPs)). Philippe Streiff started 53 Grands Prix, 1 Podium and 11 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 14th in 1986.
In pre-season testing for the 1989 season with AGS, Streiff suffering a terrible accident at Jacarepagua in Brazil. His car rolled several times and the roll-hoop was ripped off in the violent crash at Jacarepagua. The back injuries he sustained left him paralysed and in hospital for three years as he recuperated.
The crash left him as a quadriplegic and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
