Kyla Bearheels
Kyla Leilani was born on the Cheyenne Indian Reservation on August 12,
1986.
She is Lakota on her mother's side, and Lakota/Irish/French/Mexican on her father's side.
At the age of 11, Kyla was the youngest gymnast on Aberdeen High School's Senior Varsity Gymnastics Team. She was named MVP two years in a row.
Kyla also competed in Junior Olympics on the state level for Dakota Gold Gymnastics Team.
Kyla studied Ballet at the Johnny Cavelle Dance Studio in Aberdeen, SD.
She enjoyed performing in local plays and musical events in her home town.
At the age of 13, Kyla moved to Whangarei New Zealand where she would attend Kamo, High School.
It was in New Zealand that her love of performing and acting grew. Her love of Shakespeare would inspire her to enter area competitions through her high school. She won the Best Actor award at the Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival for Northland in New Zealand.
Kyla also participated in local Irish festivals in New Zealand, playing her guitar, and performing in black board concerts.
Kyla studied acting in Auckland, New Zealand, and Whangarei, New Zealand.
She returned to the States after graduating high school. She continued to pursue acting during her studies in college.
She played lead in The Girl Who Loved Horses, a production through Haskell Indian Nations College, in Lawrence, Kansas.
Kyla worked on a commercial for Apollo Ohno in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2010, and has done local commercials and film with Labyrinth Films in Aberdeen, SD.
Kyla continues to work on her acting skills while studying Nursing at Presentation College. 2013-2015
