It may feel like throuples are a distinctly modern romantic arrangement – but this couldn’t be further from the case.
In fact, consensual non-monogamy, such as a ménage à trois, goes back centuries. It can even be found in the bible.
Recently, David Haye has been the subject of speculation surrounding his private life, with fans claiming that the ex-boxer is in a three-way relationship with model Sian Osborne and The Saturdays singer Una Healy.
On Valentine’s Day, Haye appeared to confirm the rumours, with Healy also sharing a coy message on Instagram alluding to the relationship.
When it comes to depictions of polyamorous relationships in film and TV, good examples have traditionally been few and far between.
But that’s not to say there haven’t been any – from pre-code classics to modern indie dramas, there are plenty of films and TV series which place the spotlight on...

It’s official: Poly-rom-com You Me Her will end with the upcoming fifth season on At&T Audience Network.
Having previously renewed the series from Entertainment One through Season 5, the network revealed today that the fifth season will indeed be its last, with production beginning May 21 in Vancouver.
Created by executive producer and showrunner John Scott Shepherd, You Me Her stars Greg Poehler, Rachel Blanchard and Priscilla Faia as the unconventional threesome.
Season 4, which premiered April 9, picked up with the throuple settling back in after a surprise poly commitment ceremony in a pizza joint at the end of Season 3. Season 4 sees them settling back into the ‘burbs to live a tweaked version of the conventional “married with children” life. The scenario begs the questions: Are “the accidental polyamorists” trying to jam a triangular peg into a round-hole world? Will they break the neighborhood, their peculiar romance, or both?

When I first reviewed Welcome to Sweden (review here), I was not only nervous about the idea of someone getting a gig by virtue of being Amy Poehler’s brother, but also because the show seemed to be working such a “European” sense of comedy, that I wasn’t sure it would play well to American audiences.
It may have worked out that despite somewhat surprising success, the show remains a bit niche, but Greg Poehler won me over pretty quickly. Based on Greg’s real experiences living in Sweden, the show is a charmingly-envisioned culture clash that wonderfully avoids trying too hard for the comedy.
The story revolves around Greg, who has fallen in love with Emma (Josephine Bornebusch) and decides to relocate with her so that she can take a job back in Sweden. He had a solid job as an investment broker, with a lot of high profile clients,...

Welcome to Sweden, the semi-autobiographical comedy created by and starring Greg Poehler (brother of Amy), has been picked up for a second season by NBC, having already been renewed for a second season on Sweden's TV4. The comedy is based on Poehler's experiences as an American expat in Sweden and has already featured a star-studded lineup of guests, including Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, and Aubrey Plaza. Should season two happen to feature a Nick Offerman cameo (perhaps as a gruff Swedish fisherman?) we would not object.

Welcome to Sweden, the show from executive producer and star Greg Poehler, has been renewed for a second season on NBC.
Welcome to Sweden Renewed
Welcome to Sweden is loosely based on Poehler’s life and follow an American man (Poehler) who moves to Sweden to be with his Swedish girlfriend (Josephine Bornebusch). Welcome to Sweden’s first season is currently airing on NBC, and has featured many high profile guest stars, including Poehler’s sister, Amy Poehler, as well as Will Ferrell, Aubrey Plaza and Gene Simmons. With season 2 on the horizon, Poehler tweeted a few suggestions for dream guest stars, citing Britney Spears, Barack Obama and Hulk Hogan as a few of his top choices.
The show is a particularly risky move for the network, as it features a fair amount of subtitles. In fact, the show has already been picked up for a second season by Swedish television.
