The Buffalo Bills honored injured teammate Damar Hamlin on the field Sunday nearly one week after the safety’s life-threatening injury and collapse.
Ahead of the game (which is being played at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. vs. the New England Patriots), Hamlin’s teammates could all be seen with No. 3 patches (Hamlin’s jersey number) affixed to their uniforms. The team also painted his number in Buffalo blue on the field’s 30 yard line, as another way to pay tribute to the hospitalized player.

Damar Hamlin is still hospitalized, but he’s with his Buffalo Bills teammates in spirit.
Hamlin fired off a tweet this morning claiming “Nothing I want more than to be running out of that tunnel with my brothers. ” The team is preparing for its first game since Hamlin’s near-fatal injury last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Buffalo takes on the New England Patriots today. Hamlin last tweeted on Saturday night to thank fans for their support.
NFL teams have a series of activations to keep Hamlin front and center this weekend, ranging from pregame t-shirt with his No. 3 on them to endzone paintings of the number. The Buffalo Bills added No. 3 flags to their initial charge out of the tunnel (see below)
The Bills had one last gift for Hamlin, who was watching the game from his hospital bed. Nyheim Hines took the opening kickoff and returned it for a 96-yard touchdown.

Damar Hamlin returned to Instagram for the first time since suffering a life-threatening tackle on “Monday Night Football”, thanking fans for their “overwhelming” support and flashing a wide smile!
The 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety posted Saturday a couple of pictures of himself in uniform as well as a block quote from Dr. Timothy Pritts, who said doctors told Hamlin he “won the game of life” after Hamlin woke up and asked who won the Bills-Bengals game.
“When you put real love out into the world it comes back to you 3x’s as much.. ,” the second-year NFL pro wrote in his caption. “The Love has been overwhelming, but I’m thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. We brung the world back together behind this. If you know me you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road keep praying for me!

Damar Hamlin‘s coach, Sean McDermott, is joining the rest of the Buffalo Bills team in sending his best wishes for the athlete’s recovery. McDermott got visibly emotional on Thursday during a press conference alongside Bills quarterback Josh Allen, discussing the 24-year-old safety’s condition.
In the three days since Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field, fans and supporters have come together to donate to the Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive, which he established in 2020.
The initial goal was for 2,500 to provide toys to a daycare center in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. As of Jan. 6, it has reached more than 7.7 million.

Athletes, celebrities and sports fans alike have come together to offer support and prayers for Damar Hamlin after the Buffalo Bills’ safety collapsed during Monday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals.
During the first quarter of Monday’s matchup, Hamlin tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and both men appeared to be uninjured following the tackle. However, shortly after, Hamlin appeared to stumble and collapse on the field. He was swiftly attended to by medical personnel, who reportedly gave the athlete CPR on the field before he was taken to the hospital via ambulance.
On Tuesday morning, the NFL released a statement confirming that Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest following a blow to the chest and is currently in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin’s spokesperson, Jordon Rooney, told Et that the athlete is fighting.
“We don’t have a specific medical update at this time.

As Major League Baseball heads toward its playoffs and the NHL and NBA look ahead to October, the NFL is kicking off this week. Here’s a look at the 2022 primetime and holiday games and some key matchups (all times Pacific for brevity).
The league opened the regular season Thursday with the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams getting worked by Josh Allen and the visiting Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium. NBC’s Sunday Night Football slate begins September 11 with Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveling to Texas to play the Dallas Cowboys.
ESPN’s Monday Night Football will open with the Denver Broncos and their new quarterback Russell Wilson heading to Seattle to play his former longtime team the Seahawks on September 12. The network’s neo-traditional opening-week doubleheader has been pushed to Week 2 and shared with its broadcast sister ABC this season. The Bills host the Tennessee Titans at 4:15 p.

People are obviously ready for some football, as even a noncompetitive Thursday night NFL game managed to hold an impressive audience size.
Surprisingly, it was a blowout start to the NFL’s 2022 season, as the defending champion Los Angeles Rams fell hard to the Buffalo Bills, 31-10. Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a huge game, making a statement to the rest of the league that any championship aspirations must go through Buffalo.
Perhaps a bigger surprise was that the preliminary Nielsen ratings for the game held up nicely compared to last year. More than 21 million viewers watched across NBC, Peacock, and the NFL Digital properties, the fourth consecutive year topping that overall viewership number. Final numbers will be in on Monday.
While past opening nights had their various headwinds, this year’s game came as major breaking news on Queen Elizabeth and the lopsided contest itself offered hurdles to total viewership.

The first half was competitive; the second half had no Hollywood ending for the team from La La Land. Thursday’s National Football League regular-season opener saw the defending Super Bowl Champions the Los Angeles Rams fall to the visiting Buffalo Bills 31-10. As a result, NBC and Peacock’s Total Audience Delivery (Tad) also fell — hard — from the comparable 2021 NFL Kickoff Game.
NBC and Peacock registered a projected Tad of “21-plus” million viewers across NBC TV, Peacock, and NFL Digital platforms, based on preliminary data shared by NBC Sports (tweet is below). Last year’s game — a thriller that saw Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the so-called America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys, 31-20 — scored 26 million viewers. That was the best delivery for an NFL Kickoff Game since 2015 (27.4 million viewers for the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots), and rose 20 percent from 2020’s Houston Texans vs.

In a television landscape riddled with reboots, sequels and revivals, audiences are primed for stories that pick up where another tale has left off. Figuring out how to continue the narrative of a longtime franchise or beloved character isn’t always easy, but when done well, can translate to loyal fans — and even Emmy attention, as in the case of AMC’s “Breaking Bad” prequel, “Better Call Saul.” This season, several TV series are keeping well-known lore alive, but evolving their stories in new and sometimes unexpected ways.
Among the shows that are continuing journeys of known characters are everything from “Power Book II: Ghost” at Starz, to NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the latter of which has revived beloved detective Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni. Other series pick up characters or universes in slightly less conventional ways.

If Peak TV has taught us anything, it’s impossible to have too much of a good thing. That’s why “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” still airs five nights a week in primetime and all of NBC’s Thursday night sitcoms are super-sized. Ok, so neither of those things are true, but that hasn’t stopped the TV industry from looking into other ways of sating a fanbase’s every desire.
That, of course, is part of the reason why studios continue to be obsessed with creating and recreating shows based on existing intellectual property. If you liked “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” surely you’ll enjoy that same show, but different.
But something we haven’t examined as much — see also: griped about — are continuations of existing series that,...
