Four months. We’re now just four months away from the return of the Alien franchise with brand new movie Alien: Romulus, wherein director Fede Alvarez will put his own personal stamp on the terrifying sci-fi saga. Disney presented some new footage at CinemaCon last night, though the footage unfortunately isn’t available online.
That being said, we do at least have some footage descriptions from various outlets that were in attendance at CinemaCon. And there’s a common thread in the many descriptions that we’ve been reading. As promised by Alvarez, Alien: Romulus is a practical effects-heavy affair!
Collider’s Steven Weintraub tweets, for starters, “The Alien: Romulus [CinemaCon] scenes are brutal and scary and exactly what I wanted. The practical effects and sets looked great.”
That Hashtag Show’s Hunter Bolding tweets, “Alien: Romulus, from the small amount of footage we were shown, looks like a return to Alien being horrifying.

A bunch of film critics released their initial reactions to Justice League today. For the most part, critics weren't blown away by it. Some like liked it more than others but the general consensus is that it's a fun and ok movie.
I was really hoping for a more enthusiastic outcome, but this is what we got. I'm still excited to see the movie, and I'm not going to let this opinion sway how I feel. I'll wait to see it for myself before I judge it.
This might not be the reaction that Warner Bros. was hoping for. But, In the end, it doesn't sound like a complete disaster! It seems like it's going to be a fun movie that the fans will enjoy. Read through the reactions below and let us know what you think about what these critics are saying.

Justice League is a flawed, but fun superhero epic.
At least, that’s according to the first reactions that are now beginning to flood the interwebs – expect the official review embargo to lift at 11:50 pm Pst on Tuesday, November 14th – which hail the Zack Snyder ensemble piece as a “spectacular, action-packed” romp.
It’s not without its faults, though; some critics caution that Justice League‘s CGI isn’t up to snuff, while the story of five costumed crusaders – six, if we’re counting the Man of Steel – battling Steppenwolf is “lacking” in parts. It’s got heart, though, and Snyder and Co. have seemingly done a good enough job with the core characters that’ll you be asking for more once the screen fades to black. Also, make sure you hang around afterwards, as Collider’s Steven Weintraub was full of praise for an Aquaman post-credits scene.

It’s shaping up to be a very, very exciting six weeks for comic book fans.
On the one end of the spectrum, we have Warner’s Justice League – a film so epic and mind-bogglingly complex that it took not one, but two directors to shepherd it across the finish line, after Joss Whedon (Avengers) was drafted in to dot the i’s and cross the t’s in lieu of Zack Snyder. Indeed, the DC blockbuster enjoyed a big showcase this past weekend, when the Powers That Be lifted the curtain on one final, and suitably heroic trailer. You can check out our own thorough breakdown of said sizzle reel right here.
But as if uniting the League wasn’t enough, there’s also the impending release of Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel and Taika Waititi’s spacefaring threequel that largely centers on the galactic escapades of Hulk and Chris Hemsworth...

Ask any fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe what his or her favorite film is and chances are good you won’t be hearing “Thor” or “Thor: The Dark World.” Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian god of thunder has worked much better as a wisecracking supporting player in the “Avengers” films than he has as the central hero in his standalone films. In fact, “Thor: The Dark World” is often cited as the worse Marvel film to date. Luckily, New Zealand director Taika Waititi is here to course correct the relationship between “Thor” and the big screen.
The first reactions for “Thor: Ragnarok” are in on social media, and they are universally glowing. Nearly every critic agrees “Ragnarok” is easily the best “Thor” movie out of the three standalone films, and Waititi is...

The first reactions are pouring in from critics who have seen “Blade Runner 2049,” and to call them “great” would be a massive understatement. Words like “masterpiece” are being thrown around by more than one critic when talking about Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sequel, which means you’ll probably want to order tickets right now to what is shaping up to be the most acclaimed blockbuster of the fall.
“Blade Runner 2049” is set thirty years after the events of Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking original. The plot concerns Ryan Gosling’s Officer K, a member of the Los Angeles Police Department who is tasked with finding the missing Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) in an attempt to save humanity from a replicant manufacturer named Niander Wallace, played by Jared Leto. The supporting cast includes Robin Wright, David Bautista, and Mackenzie Davis.

Blade Runner 2049 has been a long time coming – too long, perhaps – but it looks like Denis Villeneuve and Co. have pulled off the impossible: to deliver a worthy sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi masterclass.
In anticipation of 2049‘s theatrical release on October 6th, the first reviews are beginning to slip onto the interwebs, and they’re nothing short of spectacular. Embedded below, you’ll find such superlatives as “breathtaking,” “phenomenal” and “visually mind-blowing” littered across this collection of Tweets, which only has us all the more excited to delve into the final reviews once they’re published online.
Granted, as one critic points out, Blade Runner 2049 is teeming with potential spoilers, so perhaps it’s best going into Villeneuve’s sequel blind – not unlike Jared Leto’s peculiar Replicant creator, Niander Wallace. Indeed, the Suicide Squad actor is said to play a fairly instrumental role in 2049, as...

For those of you who are hoping that the upcoming feature film adaptation of It is going to be great, it looks like the movie isn't going to let Stephen King and horror movie fans down. Judging from what people are saying the movie is going to be a fantastically terrifying film that will scare the shit out of audiences! That's exactly the kind of film that I was hoping for! It's also said that the film has heart and stays true to the spirit of the book.

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi quickly approaching, and Han Solo making headlines lately due to its production troubles, all eyes are on Disney’s mega franchise at the moment to see where it goes next. Comic-Con’s right around the corner now and it was thought that the Mouse House might be bringing some footage from one or even both of those aforementioned projects to the convention, but it appears that that’s not the case.
Both Rian Johnson’s entry into the main saga and the next Anthology film will be sitting out of Comic-Con this year, with neither movie getting a panel. Does Warner Bros. finally have a hit on their hands as far as DC Extended Universe movies go? It certainly seems that way. While full reviews for Wonder Woman are still under embargo, and will be for a few more weeks, the social media reactions are starting to pour in and it’s almost unanimous: the critics absolutely love it. Though it’s far from a perfect film, it sounds like Patty Jenkins’ blockbuster is a huge hit and also the burgeoning cinematic universe’s best effort to date.

The trailers for the upcoming Marvel Studios flick have been off-the-charts amazing, and if you were a fan of that ridiculous, goofy humor of that first one, this film looks to have that in spades.
But can Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 live up to the promise of the first film? Most importantly, does it continue the proud tradition of solid films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Screenings have been going on all around the web, and while no one has been able to post a full-on review, they have been able to share their initial impressions via social media.

It’s no secret that Disney’s CinemaCon presentation stole headlines left, right, and center after the Mouse House previewed its film slate for 2017 and beyond. It’s common for Hollywood biopics to gloss over the more unsavory details of their subjects’ lives and focus on the positive aspects. But if producer Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Silver Linings Playbook, Big Fish) is true to his word, the long-awaited Richard Pryor biopic will not fall into that trap. Between the cocaine abuse, the string of divorces, and the early 1980s suicide attempt, there is plenty of potentially disturbing material in Pryor’s life story. “We’re tackling it full on,” Cohen says in an interview with Collider’s Steven Weintraub. “The script is as dark, and raw, and sad, and scary in some ways but ultimately inspiring as well as a script can be.” That’s an appropriate tribute to Pryor, who didn’t shy away from uncomfortable topics in his stand-up act. After suffering through quite the development hell rollercoaster, fans will hopefully be pleased to hear that the movie of Sony's Uncharted game series is now pressing ahead, courtesy of Real Steel director Shawn Levy and Smokin Aces writer Joe Carnahan. The movie has taken absolutely ages to get going, but now that the whole thing has been given the fast track treatment, it's likely that we'll be seeing our Nathan Drake in the flesh pretty soon, as a production start date and a location for the filming are said to have been picked out.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gotten to the point that with each passing film, I wonder if it'll be the one to topple the proverbial house of cards. Sure, not every single one of their movies has been a winner -- I maintain that Thor: The Dark World is terrible, and Iron Man 3 is better when you try not to think of it as a Marvel film -- but there hasn't been a film that's broken the world. Given that we have characters spanning galaxies, that's a definite possibility.
Their next film, Doctor Strange threatened to break the universe more than any other. Yes, it could be seen as any other standard run-of-the-mill standalone origin story, but the film is anything but. It's set in a world that's been populated for the past eight years, and in those eight years, rules have been established that cannot so easily be tossed aside.

Early reviews for Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” are in, and people who got to see the film on Wednesday praised the film for its performances and visual aesthetic. #DoctorStrange is just phenomenal. Visually one of the most stunning films in years. — Ashley Menzel (@ashleygmenzel) October 20, 2016 #DoctorStrange is a very good origins story, Probably the most unique Marvel one yet. Cumberbatch brings the comic character to life! — Nuke The Fridge (@NukeTheFridge) October 20, 2016 Collider’s Steven Weintraub described the film as “unlike any previous Marvel movie,” while TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzales called it “spellbinding.” In general, early reviews seem to be praising the performances.

A flood of first reaction reviews for Marvel's Doctor Strange has hit the internet, and it sounds like Marvel fans are in for something pretty incredible! There is a lot of praise for the crazy psychedelic visual effects, the characters, the uniqueness of the film and how it brings something fresh to the McU. You can read through the reviews below. They've definitely managed to get me even more pumped up about seeing this movie! I didn't think that was possible, but with everyone talking about how awesome it is, how can I not be more excited?!
It has also been confirmed that there will be two post-credits scenes teasing the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Below the reactions I included a new clip from the film called "Heal the Body" that introduces Strange to the astral form. It's an extension of what we've seen in the trailer of...

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner. Judging by the first batch of instant reactions from the U.S. press screening of Doctor Strange, it sure sounds like Marvel's done it again. Doctor Strange is unlike any previous Marvel movie and that’s why I love Marvel. They keep pushing boundaries and make it look easy. — Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) October 20, 2016 Visuals in Doctor Strange are fantastic. Actually worth seeing in 3D. Cumberbatch is great as the Sorcerer Supreme. — Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) October 20, 2016 Doctor Strange has two after the credits scenes like most Marvel movies. They both set up future things...trying to stay spoiler free. — Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) October 20, 2016 not going to say Doctor Strange is the best Marvel movie. It’s not. But it’s an awesome Doctor Strange movie with visuals that will floor u. — Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) October 20, 2016 still in shock we've reached a point where Marvel can release a Doctor Strange movie.

Last night in La a handful of lucky critics got to attend the junket screening for Star Trek Beyond, and while full reviews are still under embargo, a handful of reactions are starting to pour out over social media. For the most part, it seems like everyone enjoyed the film, with the general consensus being that while it’s not perfect, it’s still a ton of fun.
You could argue that of course these critics will be praising Justin Lin’s entry into the franchise, as if you’re going to be attending the junket for a movie, it wouldn’t be in good taste to bash it over Twitter. And while that is somewhat true, we tend to trust a lot of these people who’ve Tweeted and it’s certainly exciting to see their enthusiasm for the new Star Trek.

Collider recently sat down with "X-men: Apocalypse" writer and producer Simon Kinberg to discuss the unknown after-credit scene for the film. Critics were not presented with this scene, unfortunately, but Kinberg did confirm that it will be attached to 'Apocalypse' when it releases in U.S. theaters on the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
Collider's Steven Weintraub interviewed Kinberg during the press junket for "X-men: Apocalypse" and asked what the after-credit scene means for Fox's 'X-men' cinematic universe to which Kinberg replied:
"It’s a nod toward potentially a lot of different movies. I mean certainly the Wolverine movie is related to what happens at the end of it, but there’s also another character that’s introduced, at least in name, in the tag and he could show up in any host of different X-Men films. Maybe a Gambit movie, maybe another X-Men movie."

Spider-Man. Black Panther. The Airport scene. Prepare to be talking about them after you see "Captain America: Civil War."
Cap's third solo (sort of) movie isn't arriving in theaters until May 6, so it's a wee bit too early to be checking Rotten Tomatoes for official reviews. However, some critics got to see the movie almost a month early, and shared brief reactions on Twitter. Long story short: They loved it. Granted, screening audiences tend to be overly enthusiastic, but they got pretty specific (and consistent) about what they loved, while avoiding any spoilers:
#CaptainAmericaCivilWar delivers the goods. Endless Avenger v Avenger action. Tense and still funny. Boseman kills it as Black Panther.
— Kevin Polowy (@djkevlar) April 9, 2016
Chadwick Boseman is fantastic as Black Panther. Can't wait to see his solo film. He absolutely nailed the role.

Last night I had the opportunity to attend one of the first screenings of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War. I can't give you my full review now but I will say that it was a spectacular jaw-dropping film and in my opinion it's the best Marvel film yet! It also has some of the most insanely awesome fight sequences ever! Seriously, this movie is going to blow minds! Don't believe me? Well, here are several other reactions from the screening to back me up!
First things first: we finally have the perfect Spider-Man and the greatest Peter Parker.
— nived (@devincf) April 9, 2016
Next: Black Panther is incredible. Boseman plays him as both regal and full of rage. The most serious character in the film.
— nived (@devincf) April 9, 2016
The movie is bigger in scale than Winter Soldier but is so much more personal. The stakes are incredibly emotional.

The social media embargo on Captain America: Civil War lifted early this morning and Twitter has been flooded with reactions to the film. While the general consensus appears to be that it’s not perfect, the critics do seem to really like what Joe and Anthony Russo have delivered here, with tons of praise being heaped upon both Spider-Man and Black Panther in particular.
A few of the complaints are directed at the plot, the fact that there are too many characters in the film, and that once again, Marvel has failed to craft a compelling villain. That being said, though, most people agree that Captain America: Civil War is still a lot better than both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

After years of anticipation the seventh chapter in the Star Wars saga had its worldwide premiere last night in Los Angeles. Attendees for Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ first public screening included the cast and crew, a raft of Hollywood’s finest A-list talent and of course, plenty of press. While the main reviews are still being kept under wraps until 12.01am Pst tonight, that’s not stopped those present from hitting social media. Bite-size capsule reviews dominated Twitter as soon as the movie let out.
So, what did that lucky bunch have to say about J.J. Abrams’ second stab at a beloved sci-fi franchise? Here’s a select crop of Tweets from those attendees. And don’t worry, all of these reactions are spoiler-free.

Jon Bernthal has been spotted on the set of Daredevil, and while he doesn't have the iconic skull symbol (that might be a bit silly for when Frank Castle is out and about during the day), the actor looks every bit The Punisher. There was a time when everyone thought that Ant-Man was destined to be Marvel’s first turkey, derailed by Edgar Wright’s unceremonious exit from the pic and a diminished scale in the wake of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now, however, the first reaction are seeping out onto the web (along with a few new pics, as seen above), and the general consensus seems to be that, while the Peyton Reed-directed superhero flick is by no means a classic of the genre, it’s also not half-bad. Of course, there are already some nay-sayers in the mix.

Disney and Lucasfilm almost broke the internet yesterday when they unveiled the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The hotly-anticipated look at the next chapter in the Star Wars saga didn’t disappoint, but it did raise a handful of new questions and sparked a great deal of online speculation.
One of the biggest debates raged around the identity of the trailer’s narrator, who asks if we’ve felt “an awakening.” Many were quick to point out that the voice resembles that of Benedict Cumberbatch, who was long-rumored for the film but never officially cast. I personally don’t believe that Cumberbatch is coming anywhere near The Force Awakens, but I get the skepticism surrounding his involvement, thanks to the high levels of (arguably unnecessary) secrecy surrounding his role in J.J. Abrams’ last sci-fi adventure, Star Trek Into Darkness.

Earlier today, Collider editor Frosty teased that his site had a big scoop to drop today, and here it is: Joaquin Phoenix is in final talks to play the title role in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange movie, slated for release on July 8, 2016 with Scott Derrickson at the helm. Rumors have been swirling around the project for months, touching on everyone from Benedict Cumberbatch to, most recently, Jack Huston. In July there were reports that Phoenix was in the running, but that died down when there was no casting announcement at Comic-Con (Some people thought Cumberbatch’s attendance was evidence that he had been selected, but again, no dice).
Interestingly, Collider’s post sparked a Twitter war among the sites that trade in these secrets, with Latino Review’s El Mayimbe the most stridently in opposition, going so far as tweeting a screen grab of a text from a source,...
