Ajay Devgn, who recently completed 25 years in film industry, has got another reason to celebrate as his most ambitious project ‘Shivaay’ has now entered the coveted Inr 100 crore club at the box office. The movie, which was released during Diwali week on October 28, received a good response from the audiences and crossed Inr 50 crore mark in just five days of the release. ‘Shivaay’ which was riding high on its breath-taking locations, high-octane action sequences and VFX, lagged slightly behind in terms of box office numbers to Karan Johar's romantic emotional drama ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ which released on the same day. However, the clash didn't affect the overall business of the film as people preferred to watch both movies in theatres during Diwali weekend. While ‘Shivaay’ ruled the single screens, Adhm dominated the multiplexes. ‘Shivaay’ has now become Ajay Devgn's sixth movie to cross Inr 100 crore mark after...

Sometimes the worst thing you do to a good thing is have too much of it. Like having too much of mama’s paneer pakore till you puke. Ajay Devgn has directed, acted and produced Shivaay. The tremendous effort that would have been demanded in pulling that off is not often seen in today’s Hindi cinema. But let’s get straight to the film at hand.
Shivaay has a basic premise that we have seen before, but with a few modernised twists. A father that goes to all lengths, leaps and latitudes to get his daughter back from child traffickers. Now before you think this is an Indian Liam Neeson’s Taken, Shivaay opens with Ajay Devgn collapsing on the ground, three bodies scattered several feet away next to a little doll. Then it moves on to a four-minute block of Ajay freefall mountaineering down the cliff to get payment for helping soldiers.

“Tum mein Shiva jaisa kya hai?” the lady asks Devgan lustfully.
I held my breath wondering what he will show her. Relax. It’s just the tattoos which make our hero so loftily heroic. Just to drive in the hero’s anointed status we have the noisy background score where star-stuck choruses chant in unison about Shiva the Destroyer, blah blah.
Shivaay is so steeped in self-importance so awed by its own intended grandeur it seems forget there is a story to tell. Story, there is to tell. But the plot is propelled forward in stuttering staccato waves of melodrama and action. It’s like Shekhar Kapoor desperately tries to shake hands with Rohit Shetty. But they just can’t seem to find a meeting-ground. Not in this Ajay Devgan-directed lopsided mélange of mayhem and melodrama.

Sayyeshaa, who is all set to make her debut with Ajay Devgn’s ambitious project Shivaay is one helluva professional. The debutant has leaved no stone unturned to put in her best foot forward for her debut film.
One of the scenes required her to shoot in a bathtub. But the challenging part was that the water was ice cold and the actress had to film it without a break. So being the professional that she is, Sayyeshaa took on the challenge and shot for the scene in the cold weather of Manali. The shoot went on for two days and this impressed Ajay Devgn and the rest of the crew.
A source close to the production team reveals, “Sayyeshaa showed volumes of professionalism during the shooting of the song. The scene required her to have bath in cold water in the bathtub and the weather in Manali was freezing.

Magical Moments between father and daughter, Raatein the soft melodious track of Shivaay is a family puller that will pull at your heart strings like none other. If you dont believe it, all you have to do is hear the cutest song on the block, Raatein.

Ajay Devgn, who starts shooting for his directorial venture Shivaay up North next month, has reportedly chosen Abigail Eames, a 12-year-old, to play his daughter Gaura in the film.
The cute little girl has her own fan following because of the Hollywood movies and English television serials that she has done. Abigail was seen in TV movies like Lawless (2013) and Harry & Paul’s Story of 2s (2014) and the action-thriller Alleycats (2015). Her performance as Maebh Arden, the ‘standard defenceless little girl’, in the English teleseries Doctor Who has won her accolades.

By now, it's a well-known fact that along with films like Baadshaho, Ajay Devgn is also concentrating on his ambitious project Shivaay. Along with producing and directing the film, Ajay Devgn plays the protagonist and also a father of a twelve year old. While his recent role as a father in Drishyam bagged him a lot of appreciation, he will be seen as the father of child actress Abigail Eames in Shivaay. Abigail, who will play the role of Gaura in the film, has her own fan following because of the Hollywood movies and English television serials that she has done. Every series of Doctor Who has an episode that falls flat, gets little love from the Who community and is what fans would have you believe to be, in common parlance, 'a clunker'.
In the '80s, Colin Baker was dealt 'The Twin Dilemma' and Sylvester McCoy had 'Time and the Rani', while in the modern era, David Tennant fared 'Fear Her' and Matt Smith endured 'The Rings of Akhaten' (you can come out from behind the sofa now).
But, these stories do have their fans. Very vocal fans.
Last year - Peter Capaldi's first in charge of the Tardis - saw episode 10 come in for a bashing, with 'In The Forest of the Night' by award-winning writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce the perceived clunker of series eight.
At the time, Digital Spy awarded the episode a paltry 2 out of 5 - and fans displayed their collective displeasure by placing the story...

As much as I like the suggestion that the next Doctor Who companion should be an older woman, namely Emma Thompson, there’s something that I’ve always liked about small children on the series. And as this week’s wonder-filled fairytale of an episode, “In the Forest of the Night,” shows us, the younger may be the better for 56-year-old Peter Capaldi‘s Twelfth Doctor. It’s not just the increase in age difference but also the greater contrast in personality. Matt Smith’s version of the Doctor was rather kid-like himself, so when he first hung out with Amy Pond when she was only seven, eating fish sticks and custard, the two seemed like equals. Next to the more cantankerous Capaldi, though, little Maebh (Abigail Eames) is a bright antithesis to the Doctor. This season has already given us the show’s youngest companion ever (I think — if we consider that original sidekick Susan Foreman...

Writing this I know that I have to point out that I love Doctor Who, I doubt anything would make me stop watching it…but I have to be honest. In the Forest of the Night is placed before the final two episodes that make up the finale, and we all know what that means, this is where the weak episode normally sits before all the excitement begins. All I thought as the episode ended was “Fluff”.
The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) arrives in London to find it covered in a forest of trees and a little girl knocking on the Tardis door. Finding that she is part of a school group on a museum sleep over with Clara (Jenna Coleman) and Danny Pink he soon meets up with his companion and her boyfriend to try to work out not just why the forest has covered London, but the entire world.

Doctor Who series 8 heads towards its close with In The Forest Of The Night. Here's our spoiler-filled review...
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
8.10 In The Forest Of The Night
"You need an appointment to see the Doctor"
So this one's a bit different. Coming off the back of a run of Doctor Who episodes where new monsters, big jumps and horror undertones have been regular features, In The Forest Of The Night heads off in the other direction. In doing so - and this is its gamble - it sacrifices things that generally matter to a Doctor Who episode.
Firstly, there's no strong monster, although Who has managed without those in previous stories and still come up trumps. Secondly, it doesn't have a tangible threat, that feels like something to push against. That's an obstacle that In The Forest Of The Night has more trouble with.

Series 8's winning streak continues with a Frank Cottrell Boyce-penned episode that has a great deal to say...
In The Forest Of The Night brings to an end a run of four Doctor Who series 8 episodes from writers who'd never penned an adventure for the show before before. On the basis of all four stories they came up with, every one of them should be warmly welcomed back in the future.
This latest comes from Frank Cottrell Boyce, whose extensive and hugely impressive writing career to date has taken him from Coronation Street and the wonderful, wonderful Millions, through to Welcome To Sarajevo and Code 46. And it would be fair to say that by the time he sat down to write In The Forest Of The Night, he had plenty of things he wanted to say. To his credit, he's squeezed a great many of them into a 45 minute Doctor Who adventure.

BBC One has confirmed that Frank Cottrell Boyce will script an episode of Doctor Who.
Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, described the award-winning novelist as a "genius".
Cottrell Boyce recently let slip that he would be penning an episode of the sci-fi series, calling it "a pleasure" to write for Peter Capaldi's new Doctor.
Known for his work in children's fiction and for his collaborations with film director Michael Winterbottom, he also worked with Danny Boyle in scripting the well-received Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
"Doctor Who is born anew in the mind of a genius!" said Moffat. "Frank's script is pure magic - and everything I could have hoped for from the genius behind the Olympics Opening Ceremony!"
Cottrell Boyce added: "I was flabbergasted to be asked to write an episode - partly because I've been so absorbed in the last few...
