Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Chucky” Season 3.
The “Chucky” Season 3 finale, “Final Destination,” picked up with Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur) venturing deep into the spirit realm for the sole purpose of finding where Chucky (Brad Dourif) may be hiding Lexy’s (Alyvia Alyn Lind) younger sister. As Lexy and Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson) guarded his body, Jake confronted the ghosts of his past, including many, many iterations of Chucky. That led to Jake falling straight into Chucky’s trap, with the serial killer using his counterparts to distract him while he hijacked Jake’s body.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with Arthur, Arnarson, and Lind about the season finale, where the trio discussed working with guest star John Waters and reflected on their favorite moments from the series so far.
Finding sister Caroline (Carina Battrick) has been Lexy’s primary goal this season, and her relentless pursuit has put her on the offense when it comes to Chucky.

The team has been benched. Disney+ has cancelled The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers series so viewers won't be seeing a third season.
A comedy-drama continuation of the 1990s movies, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers TV show was developed by film creator Steve Brill, Josh Goldsmith, and Cathy Yuspa. The show stars Lauren Graham, Emilio Estevez, Josh Duhamel, Brady Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Julee Cerda, Luke Islam, Bella Higginbotham, Taegen Burns, Kiefer O'Reilly, De'Jon Watts, Naveen Paddock, and Josh Duhamel. Set in present-day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks youth hockey team has evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Graham), and friend Nick Gaines (Simkins) set out to build their own team of misfits -- to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture...

We have some bad news for fans of Mighty Ducks: Game Changers and Big Shot.
Disney+ announced Friday that both series had been canceled after their second seasons.
The news is hardly surprising.
Some big changes are happening at Disney, including the decision to space out the Marvel Cinematic Universe series and movies.
In June, Peter Rice exited Disney. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a source said that the second-season renewals for both series were an example of his "questionable deal-making."
That would suggest that neither series performed well enough during their freshman seasons to warrant renewals.
The issue with streaming services is that the viewership statistics are rarely made public, meaning that we only typically hear about a show's numbers if it is successful.
Even then, it's hard to judge what will happen.
For example, the series premiere of the Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max was said to...

With Season 2 of Chucky wrapped up under the Christmas tree, Trace Thurman and I sat down with show runner Don Mancini to discuss bottle episode “Death in Denial,” why Nadine (Bella Higginbotham) had to die, and where the show could go in a potential Season 3.
Let’s dive deep into all things “Chucky” with Don Mancini, shall we?
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
Bloody Disgusting: What lessons did you learn from S01 that informed your approach to S02? Did you do anything differently this season?
Don Mancini: On S01 we had a lot of locations, sometimes 1 hour away from Toronto and we would have to [stay in] hotels. So one of the things I wanted to do [in S02] was take that burden off the production and keep us a little more centralized so we could focus on the drama, and the characters, and the puppets without moving around so much.

Each week Joe Lipsett will highlight a key scene or interaction in Season 2 of Don Mancini’s Chucky series to consider how the show is engaging with and contributing to queer horror.
Rip Nadine (Bella Higginbotham). I’ve spent a lot of time reminiscing on the character this week and thinking about what a fascinating contribution she was to Chucky’s second season. And so: a eulogy for the dearly departed cute little weirdo.
‘Chucky’ has had no shortage of lovable and/or fascinating characters. Its capacity for seamlessly integrating newbies into the mix of existing characters is all the more impressive when we consider the show’s high body count. And while the adult characters have fared worse than the kids, Chucky has never been afraid of offing a child or a teenager.
And yet, there hasn’t been a character quite like Nadine before.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Season Two, Episode Six of “Chucky.”
The second season of Don Mancini’s “Chucky” is rapidly approaching its finale, which means the pieces are slowly falling into place, and the characters’ paths are converging. It also means that the body count continues to rise as we near the end. This week’s episode, “He Is Risen Indeed,” delivered not one but three notable deaths worth paying tribute to.
Here’s who we lost this week, and why their deaths are important to the show.
Hulk Chucky
This first to fall this week was the heavily muscled Chucky variation, a brute force enforcer that found himself at the sharp end of the blade when confronted by Good Chucky.
“He Is Risen Indeed” sees him under the watch of Sister Ruth (Lara Jean Chorostecki), the devout worshipper who’s mistaken his sentience for divine intervention. That...

This week’s episode of “Chucky” Season 2, titled “Doll on Doll,” was easily one of the best hours of the series to date, dropping some major bombshells and a couple huge payoffs.
Warning: This Article Contains Spoilers!
For starters, “Doll on Doll” ushered in the surprising reveal that not only is Tiffany inhabiting the body of Jennifer Tilly due to the events of Seed of Chucky nearly 20 years ago, but Jennifer Tilly now resides within the body of the Tiffany doll! As you may recall, the two were swapped in Seed of Chucky, but this is the first we’ve seen of the Tilly-infused Tiffany doll.
“Doll on Doll” also revealed that the Glen/Glenda doll is still in Tiffany’s possession, and she has finally made the decision to gift it to her flesh and blood child, Glen. Tiffany’s cover has been completely blown and she’s been...

The last episode of Don Mancini’s “Chucky” opened the floodgates of plot development in the most unhinged way. Nica (Fiona Dourif) made a triumphant escape with the help of Glenda (Lachlan Watson) and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it reveal of Kyle (Christine Elise) at the wheel. “Doll on Doll” prolongs revealing Nica’s whereabouts, instead focusing on the aftermath with Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) and Glen (Watson) and a return to the slow Chucky (Brad Dourif) invasion at the Catholic boarding school.
The Chucky doll that Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Nadine (Bella Higginbotham) reformed in episode three plays a pivotal role in “Doll on Doll.” Its new aversion to violence creates a wedge among the friends, who can’t agree if this doll is a friend or foe. The last episode of Don Mancini‘s “Chucky” might’ve ended with the tease of returning franchise players, but “Hail Mary” jumps right back into the increasingly tricky situation at the Catholic reformatory school. While that means we’ll have to wait another week for a potential Glen and Glenda reunion, episode three makes that wait painless with engaging character development that includes Chucky himself.
The clock is ticking for Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur); Father Bryce (Devon Sawa) knows he has the Good Guy doll and gives him finite time to return it to his office before punishment ensues. Jake, Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Lexy’s roommate Nadine (Bella Higginbotham) band together to coax intel out of their captive doll. Meanwhile, Jake and Devon must contend with hiding their relationship and disagreements over Chucky, which lands them in Father Bryce’s crosshairs. It leaves Lexy alone...

"The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers" on Disney+ did a fine job of reviving the beloved family friendly sports franchise for a new generation. The series basically took the bones of the original movie and expanded them into a 10-episode story arc that took the ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team that the Mighty Ducks had become, had a scrappy new team of underdogs knock that chip off their shoulder, and brought them back down to Earth for a little reminder that hockey is also supposed to be fun.
Led by 12-year old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon of "Good Boys") and his mother/makeshift coach Alex (Lauren Graham), complete with a little help from crotchety former coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), the team known as the Don't Bothers squared off with the haughty, elite youth hockey team and reclaimed the name of the Mighty Ducks for themselves, albeit in an unofficial match...

Josh Duhamel has joined Season 2 of the Disney Plus series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.”
Duhamel joins the show as a new character named Gavin Cole, a former NHL player turned coach. Described as inspirational, charming, and hardcore, he’s big on the hockey metaphor that applies to life. He runs the super-intense summer hockey institute where The Mighty Ducks land in Season 2.
Duhamel was recently seen in the Netflix series “Jupiter’s Legacy” and lent his voice to the anime series “Blade Runner: Black Lotus.” He will next be seen in the NBC limited series “The Thing About Pam,” which will debut on March 8. He will also appear in the upcoming Lionsgate film “Shotgun Wedding” in June 2022. His other TV roles include “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.,” “11.22.63,” “Las Vegas,” and “All My Children.”
Duhamel is repped by ICM, John Carrabino Management, Hansen Jacobson, and Viewpoint.

Emilio Estevez Not Returning for ‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’ Season 2 Over Vaccine Requirement
Emilio Estevez will not be returning for Season 2 of Disney Plus’ “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” Variety has confirmed.
According to a source close to the production, Estevez’s departure is due to a disagreement over ABC Signature’s Covid-19 vaccination requirement, as he would not confirm that he would comply with the policy. Therefore, the studio decided not to renew his contract for Season 2. Under the recent return-to-work agreement between studios and unions, production for “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” requires vaccination against Covid-19 for everyone in Zone A, which includes all actors and crew members who come into contact with them.
It is unclear exactly how Estevez’s character will be written off of the show. Disney had no comment on his departure from the show and a representative for Estevez did not respond to a request for comment.

The Mighty Ducks will be forging ahead without the sole link to the movies.
Per Deadline, Emilio Estevez will not be returning as Coach Bombay for the second season of the TV adaptation of the series.
The outlet states Disney decided against picking up the actor's contract for more episodes after much back and forth regarding the series' mandate for Covid vaccination.
Furthermore, Deadline states that Emilio refused to assure he would comply with the mandate, which complicated his return to the franchise.
Instead, Disney opted to move ahead in a new direction, making changes to the scripts.
The last-minute decision means production will not get underway until next year, meaning fans likely have a lengthy hiatus in store.
Like many film and TV projects, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers has added a mandatory vaccination policy, which has been a part of an agreement between studios and unions.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will be back for another go. Disney+ has picked up a second season of the hockey-themed follow-up series starring Lauren Graham, Brady Noon and Emilio Estevez, who reprises his role from the 1992 movie and its 1994 and 1996 sequels. Production on Season 2 is slated to begin in early 2022.
The series is set in present-day Minnesota, and the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom (Graham) set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sports today. With the help of Gordon Bombay (Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.

Maybe more than anything, “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” is a feat of casting. Yes, the Disney+ revival is a continuation of a beloved film series that helped birth not just a generation of fans but an NHL franchise (and an animated spinoff with a theme song still lodged in the subconscious of every kid that watched more than one episode).
But all of that previous success would never have happened if the youth hockey team that helped get the whole thing started almost 30 years ago didn’t feel like an actual team. So even though this new “Mighty Ducks” TV show finds the Ducks as a junior hockey powerhouse made up of heartless bullies, the new ragtag squad that forms in its wake is a club that’s instantly worth rooting for.

Emilio Estevez returns as Gordon Bombay in the new series, which focuses on 12-year-old Evan Marrow (Brandy Noon), a young hockey player who fails to make the Ducks team but turns his loss into a new opportunity. After a little encouragement from his mom Alex (Lauren Graham), along with Bombay’s help, they shun the cutthroat,...

The Ducks are back, but they’re no longer the good guys! In Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, the iconic team now subscribes to the cutthroat mentality they previous railed against.
The first episode kicks off with the Ducks training at their state-of-the art facility. Alex (Lauren Graham), a single mom, rushes to get her son Evan (Boardwalk Empire’s Brady Noon) to practice. She sits with a group of hockey moms who are super invested in their children’s careers. They’re monitoring the kids’ protein intake, hiring specialists to evaluate performances, and are putting their kids...

Whether lacing up against the peewee league’s elite Hawks, Team Iceland at the Junior Goodwill Games or Eden Hall’s dominant varsity team, The Mighty Ducks built a lasting legacy as the scrappy underdogs who play the game fairly and still end up on top.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (premiering Friday, March 26) flips the script on the iconic team, who are now the bad guys in the Disney+ series created by Steve Brill (who wrote all three films). Now a powerhouse organization led by Coach T (The Descendants’ Dylan Playfair), the Ducks operate under a cutthroat ideology in which winning is everything.

There are only so many stories to tell, especially in the picked-over underdog-sports genre. So it doesn’t feel egregious that the new Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers blatantly rips off the premise of Cobra Kai by making the heroes from the movies — a ragtag-turned-champion youth hockey team — into the bad guys. After all, the overarching plot of Cobra Kai — unhappy middle-aged man finds renewed purpose by teaching kids about the sport he loved in his youth — is more or less the same as the one that introduced...

In this 10-episode new series, the beloved Mighty Ducks team from the 1990s film franchise have evolved beyond scrappy underdog status to become an ultra-competitive powerhouse team — a team that cuts 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon), leading to the creation of a new team for which to root.
“I want you to think about all of the other kids who have been told that they’re too small or too slow, they just want to get out there and play. Let’s start our own team. All we need is an ice rink,” Lauren Graham, who plays Evan’s mom Alex, says in a teaser for the show, which you can watch above.

You’ve probably seen a version of “Troop Zero” before. Whether that version was called “Troop Beverly Hills,” “The Mighty Ducks,” or an edited-for-tv showing of “The Bad News Bears,” it’s unlikely that anything here will be particularly fresh to anyone but the youngest of viewers. But novelty does not appear to have been high on the filmmakers’ priorities. An aggressively whimsical, ‘70s-set family comedy about a misfit group of off-brand Girl Scouts, directing duo Bert & Bertie’s crowdpleaser neither reinvents the wheel nor even attempts to redesign it all that much, but at least it gets where it wants to go, thanks in no small part to the work of Allison Janney, Viola Davis, and young actor Mckenna Grace.
Say this much for “Troop Zero,” which premiered at Sundance in 2019 and hits Amazon streaming this weekend: in spite of its relentless insistence on steering the plot exactly where you think it’s going,...
