Another outrageous moment came during the live show when Twenty One Pilots dropped trou while accepting the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The Grammy producers every year tout some of their most anticipated performances as “Grammy Moments” – but some of this year’s most memorable moments weren’t planned at all.
It was Adele’s night to shine, and her sweep of the top Grammy categories – best song, record and album – even surprised the singer, who was embarrassed enough by her good fortune (and Beyonce’s loss) to accidentally break one of her trophies at the end of the night. Adele opened the show with a dramatic rendering of her smash hit “Hello,” earning a standing ovation, which perhaps foretold the single’s success later in the evening.

Twenty One Pilots won their very first Grammy on Sunday night for best pop duo/group performance, but when they took the stage to accept their award, a very strange thing happened: the boys pulled down their pants. While many were left confused, the story behind their stunt is pretty adorable, actually. "It was before Josh and I were able to make money playing music and I called him up and said, 'Hey Josh! Do you want to come over to my rental house and watch the Grammys?'" Tyler Joseph explained. "As we were watching, we noticed that every single one of us was in our underwear . . . We were no one at that time - and said, 'If we ever go to the Grammys, if we ever win a Grammy, we should receive it just like this.'" And that's exactly what they did. via Giphy...

It seems like taking off your pants and hitting the Grammy Awards stage in only your underwear is a new trend for 2017.
Musical duo Twenty One Pilots, best known for their hit songs “Heathens” and “Stressed Out,” beat out The Chainsmokers, Rihanna and Drake, winning the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and took off their pants to accept their award.
As the duo stepped on stage in only their boxers, lead vocalist and keyboardist Tyler Joseph explained why they went without pants to accept their statue.

No one asked for it, but Twenty One Pilots delivered anyway, accepting their Grammy for Best Pop Duo or Group Performance in their underwear. Are they trying to make going pants-less the new underboob? We’re going with yes. The group, who won for their single “Stressed Out,” dropped trou as they prepared to walk up on stage, displaying their presumably expensive boxer briefs for all the world to see. Apparently, as they told the audience during their acceptance speech, wearing their underwear during music’s biggest awards show is a tradition going back to before they were successful. After a phenomenal 2016, it looks like The Chainsmokers are prepped to keep their winning streak going strong in the new year. The duo announced earlier in the week that they will be holding down an exclusive three year residency in Las Vegas, and now their smash hit “Closer” has been nominated for “Song Of The Year” at the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Awards.
