[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 11 “Inside Man.”] For its 250th episode, Chicago Fire took a page out of Die Hard‘s book: Men break into Firehouse 51 and steal Truck 81—but unbeknownst to them, Severide (Taylor Kinney) hopped on it! The firefighters, of course, call in the Cpd, and during the investigation, Ritter (Daniel Kyri) shares his suspicions about the newest recruit, Damon (Michael Bradway), who has been very vocal about his love for the firehouse (but lied about taking one of Severide’s classes at the academy) and has a reason he’s not sharing for being there. In other words, 51 is not having an easy time replacing Gallo (Alberto Rosende) or Brett (Kara Killmer); Violet (Hanako Greensmith) has brought Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) in full-time but she’s still very much a question mark. “New characters also bring out new sides of all of 51’s residents, so it’s been a...

There’s no more endearing firefighter on Chicago Fire than Darren Ritter (played by Daniel Kyri), who joined Firehouse 51 in 2018 (first recurring then as a regular) after being cut from another house for freezing on a call. Despite that blemish, Mouch (Christian Stolte) and Lt. Herrmann (David Eigenberg) backed the new candidate, and he won a candidate position at the house. Quietly but openly gay, Ritter became part of the house’s “Three Musketeers,” best friends with Gallo (Alberto Rosende) and Emt Violet (Hanako Greensmith) until Gallo left the Cfd in this season’s premiere. Always kind and helpful, Ritter has grown and prospered. Below, Kyri talks about May 8 episode, in which he doesn’t just fight a conflagration but faces the revelation of his current boyfriend to his team, and shares his new modeling experience. Before we get into Chicago Fire, I just saw you looking glamorous in a white suit among other outfits,...

Chicago Fire fans have been patiently waiting almost a month for new episodes.
That wait could pay off in a big way with some dramatic storylines over the next few weeks.
As a reminder, Chicago Fire Season 12 was shortened due to the Hollywood strikes. This means we only get 13 new episodes this time, as opposed to 22+ in a regular season.
NBC has four more new episodes of Chicago Fire that debut in May, including a season finale that will likely include another cliffhanger.
The good news is that there are four consecutive weeks of new content, meaning One Chicago fans won’t have to worry about repeat episodes for a while.
Chicago Fire Season 13 has also been ordered. So, new episodes for that season will air in the fall of 2024.

[This story contains spoilers from the second episode of Chicago Fire season 12, “Call Me McHolland.”]
In the eyes of Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman, multiple seasons of any show that brings what she considers to be continual grind from everyday action heroes is going to garner change. And that’s exactly what viewers saw Wednesday night, as old guard firefighters Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randy “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) struggled with the blows of Father Time in two separate, potentially career-ending dilemmas.
Faithful viewers of NBC’s long-running drama had been left wondering about Mouch’s fate after season 11, and whether the longtimer had survived shrapnel from a sniper’s bullet in the finale cliffhanger. It wasn’t until last week’s season 12 premiere that it was revealed that Mouch survived his near-deadly ordeal. But, as this week’s second episode showed, Mouch is still struggling with the effects of his injury, and has taken it upon himself...

Season 12 of “Chicago Fire” may be a shortened season, but it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster, according to executive producer Andrea Newman. In a new interview with Variety, Newman — who became the sole showrunner this season after previously serving as co-showrunner with Derek Haas — teased that the new season “really jumps out with a bang, literally.”
With both Alberto Rosende and Kara Killmer, who portray Blake Gallo and Sylvie Brett, respectively, exiting the series this year, and the return of Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide, nothing is off limits.
In the Season 11 finale, Casey (Jesse Spencer) proposed to Sylvie — who is wearing a ring in the below photo, for what it’s worth — Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) left town to go find her husband and Mouch (Christian Stolte) was left bleeding out in the hospital after being hit by shrapnel during a call. Season 12, premiering on Jan. 17 at 9 p.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] On screen, the first responders of Firehouse 51 are very much like a family and know quite a bit about each other’s lives. And so when Chicago Fire star Daniel Kyri (who plays firefighter Darren Ritter) stopped by TV Insider’s office in June (prior to the actors’ strike), we decided to get his take on his costars — with a twist! Because Kyri is also musical, in honor of that, we had him play Costar Lightning Round, with his answers based around the genre of music the other Fire actors would be. For instance, Taylor Kinney (Lieutenant Kelly Severide) is a mix (watch the video above!) while Eamonn Walker (Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden) “gives very much like golden era, like jazz,” according to Kyri. Kyri could even narrow down the exact song that David Eigenberg (Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann) is: “Send in the Clowns” by Stephen Sondheim.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] Maybe you’ve been using this time between seasons — longer than usual, with the ongoing Hollywood strikes — to binge some of your favorite shows. Maybe you’re looking for some recommendations. Well, we turned to Chicago Fire star Daniel Kyri (who plays firefighter Darren Ritter) to get his picks when he stopped by TV Insider before the actors’ strike. Like many, he’s very into Succession — though at the time, he hadn’t watched the final season of the drama he said is “like if Game of Thrones and The Wolf of Wall Street and Shakespeare had a baby.” Since he’d saved the episodes, he was excited “to just watch the whole thing from front to end.” Another hit he chose was Abbott Elementary, explaining, “I love teachers. Teachers are dope. They’re so rad. They deserve more. And the fact that there is a show...

While Chicago Fire Season 11 might have ended just about a month ago (and we don’t yet have a return date), fortunately, you don’t have to wait for more fun content related to the NBC drama. When series star Daniel Kyri (who plays firefighter Darren Ritter) recently stopped by TV Insider, we asked you, the fans, what you wanted him to answer. And now, the video of him doing just that is here! For Kyri, the most meaningful scene he’s filmed so far is perfect for Pride Month. “I think one that sticks out right now that’s pretty appropriate is the scene where my character, Ritter, comes out for the first time to his beloved Lieutenant Herrmann. And it’s one of my favorite scenes because I like working with David Eigenberg, and it was just a beautiful non-event, which we need more of,” he shared. Speaking of Ritter’s love life,...

Chicago Fire Season 11, from start to finish, had plenty of moments that left us speechless, got us talking, and made us laugh. And so when series star Daniel Kyri (who plays firefighter Darren Ritter) stopped by TV Insider, we had to take the opportunity to have him share his reactions to some of them, from the smaller, more entertaining moments to the bigger, finale-ending cliffhangers. Early on in the season, there were quite a few heartbreaking moments. With the writing on the wall ever since Casey (Jesse Spencer) left Chicago and his and Brett’s (Kara Killmer) conversation in the Season 10 finale, the premiere saw the long-distance couple break up (over the phone). Then, even though we knew it was coming, thanks to a promo warning us of the fact, it was still hard to watch Chief Hawkins’ (Jimmy Nicholas) death — especially considering his girlfriend Violet’s (Hanako Greensmith) reaction.
