Paramount has premiered the first trailer for Captive, an upcoming feature based on a true story centered on the lives of Ashley Smith (Kate Mara) and Brian Nichols (David Oyelowo) directed by Jerry Jameson. After being taken hostage by Brian in her own apartment, Ashley turns to Rick Warren's inspirational book, The Purpose Driven Life, for guidance. In reading from the book, Ashley not only finds purpose in her own life, but helps Brian find a more peaceful resolution to a harrowing situation. Michael Kenneth Williams, Mimi Rogers, Jessica Oyelowo, Leonor Varela and Kevin J. O'Connor co-star. Today's ratings bulletin is a mixed bag beginning with an R-rating for Oliver Hirschbiegel's new movie 13 Minutes, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year and will be released by Sony Classics later this year. The pic, also known as Elser, seems to be getting much higher marks than the Downfall director's Hollywood outing, Invasion, way back in 2007 and the all-but-ignored Diana a couple years ago. Next is Legend which gets an R-rating as we would expect as Tom Hardy takes on the dual role of playing London's most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray. Two PG-13 ratings of note, one for Masterminds and the other for Suffragette. The first is a comedy, the other is an awards season contender. I've listed the two ensemble casts below... Apologies for the name-dropping in the lengthy headline, but I assumed you might not be that quick to click had I only mentioned the film's title as Masterminds wasn't a title I was immediately familiar with, but you add the list of stars including Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis and this trailer premiere suddenly becomes a little more interesting. Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and apparently inspired by a true story, this comedy centers on David Ghantt (Galifianakis), an armored vehicle driver looking for a little adventure, but his life of monotony is about to take a turn when his flirtatious work crush Kelly Campbell (Wiig) lures him into the scheme of a lifetime.
