Joseph Vranas is an award-winning composer of concert and film music, having works performed across the United States, Venezuela, and France. Vranas has been credited in several premieres at notable festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival and his music has been recognized through competitions for film scoring, concert, and theatre music in cities such as Houston and Los Angeles.
As a conductor, Vranas has appeared on stage with various ensembles including the Old Main Brass Choir, the Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble (ECCE), and the Pacific Artists Collective (PAC). His repertoire often includes contemporary premieres and multi-media productions such as ballet. In 2018, in celebration of the centennial anniversary, Vranas conducted a full-production of Igor Stravinsky's l'Histoire du Soldat, including a cast of dancers, actors, and musicians.
Vranas is an active trumpet performer and private teacher and has performed as principal in a wide range of chamber ensembles, bands, and orchestras. Vranas received Masters of Music in both Composition and Trumpet Performance at the University of Oregon and has previously studied Composition and Music Education at Sam Houston State University.
