A producer and director of architecture documentaries, Rick brings his experience as an architect to help architects and institutions to promote their buildings and environments and to educate a larger public in understanding the value of architectural design. Self-taught, he has produced and directed over one hundred short, medium, and feature documentaries. Most of these can be seen in www.architectureawareness.com, on www,ArchiDocu.com, and have been published by www.CulturalDaily.com.
Rick has also documented over one hundred Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and numerous landmarks of contemporary architecture in Europe and The Americas through stills. Rick was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started his architecture studies at the University of Buenos Aires, continued at Israel's Technion, and spent seven formative years in Rome, Italy, where he obtained a Doctor of Architecture degree from the University of Rome. He earned a Master of Architecture and Urban Design from U.C.L.A. and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and Hebrew.
The Meghiddos lived and worked in Rome, Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, and Long Beach with his wife Ruth, an architect and urban farmer. Their architectural practice has been consistently innovative, socially oriented, environmentally responsible, budget-conscious, and aesthetic. Their work has been published in professional magazines, books, and cultural websites.
His passion for cinema parallels his love for architecture since his student days. His interest in multiple disciplines has led him to be a published poet, an essayist, an artist, and a real estate broker. At the Technion he taught architectural design and coordinated research on artificial islands and taught history of architecture at the University of California, Irvine. In 2003 he was selected by the Mayor of Long Beach, Beverly O'Neill, as a board member of the city's Redevelopment Agency (2003-2007.)
