Rad Roubeni was raised in Hamburg, Germany where he attended the
International School of Hamburg and showed a gift for both art and
design. His passion for film and photography was cultivated at the age
of twelve, when his father gave him his first camera kit. It was a
Hasselblad, along with two Super 8mm cameras and a full Super 8mm
editing machine and splicer so that he could cut his own films.
At a very young age Rad began to travel with his parents, who shared a passion for travel as well a belief that showing Rad and his siblings the world would not only broaden their horizons but also bring them closer as a family. Rad's influences have been augmented by cultures around the world and have cultivated and refined his aesthetic. Since receiving those first cameras at the age of twelve he has never stopped wanting to capture everything that sparked his interest, be it story or image.
Rad attended Pratt Institute, where he majored in Media Arts, which included film, photography, and design and earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts. Rad has been a freelance photographer focusing primarily on fashion and art and he continues to travel the world shooting still and motion for his personal and professional work. He continues to sharpen his skills and strengthen his abilities in a wide range of mediums in both film and photography production while at the same time taking a hands-on approach to art direction and design for various projects. His photography has appeared in publications world wide including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Nylon, Details, Women's Wear Daily, Maxim, the New York Times, Paper and Time Out D-Magazines. Rad has produced, directed, and shot documentaries, commercials and music and fashion videos.
In addition to his credits of Producer, Director, Actor, Cinematographer and Photographer, Rad's design work includes hotels, residential buildings, restaurants, clubs and bars.
