Miguel Melo Queiroz was born in Lisbon, Portugal. From drawing comics at the age of 10 to making short Super-8 films at the age of 15, his early passion for visual story telling coexisted with his love for wildlife and environmental causes. He begun studying Forestry but ended up pursuing a visual arts career.
In 1999 Miguel started working as cartoon cell animator in the animated feature film Petit Potam (2001). After working in several post-production houses as editor and visual effects artist, in 2005 he founded his indie filmmaking studio/trademark - ARTIMEDIA. Miguel has since worked as director, cinematographer and post producer, on several short films, for which he has been featured in TV documentaries by Channel 4 and ARTE. He is also known as DoP and Editor for the film Searching for Harriet (2021).
Miguel is based in the United Kingdom and graduated from Screen Academy Scotland in MA Film (Cinematography) .
