Will Farrell will always love University of Southern California's 2017 graduating class.
The 50-year-old actor gave a commencement address to remember at the university's graduation in May, when he sang a beautiful rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" -- so beautiful, in fact, that his performance is still being talked about.
During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Ferrell recalled his epic speech, revealing why he decided to send students off with a musical moment.
"I hadn’t been put in that position before because usually I just make fun of things,” Ferrell admitted. “I just told them to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground and reach for the stars -- which I read on the back of a cereal box.”
The actor further inspired those in the audience -- and on the internet -- by singing a good chunk of "I Will Always Love You."

Could the next Johnny Carson be a comedian from West Orange, New Jersey with two Morrissey tattoos? "I know that's an unrealistic goal," Chris Gethard tells Rolling Stone with a bemused smile. "Is it gonna happen? Probably not. But why not try to take over, see what happens?"
Gethard, 37, is the creator and host of The Chris Gethard Show (Tcgs). "It's a show named after a guy and that guy's not in control," he says on the talkshow's zany, clubhouse-like set. Rolling Stone followed the comedian for a week leading...

“Despicable Me 3” (Universal) at $75.4 million provided close to half of the Top Ten total of $161 million. That’s an impressive achievement. But the the latest Illumination animated offering came in considerably below the expected total of $90 million. And yet again the domestic total is out of step with strong international results.
On the other hand, Edgar Wright’s second-ranked “Baby Driver” (Sony) performed better than expected ($21 million for the weekend, $30 million since its Wednesday opening). Chalk up its initial success to comedy counterprogramming, strong reviews, and perhaps more than anything a desire for something different and not the safe, cookie-cutter formula core of most summer franchise releases.
For example, “The House” (Warner Bros.), a standard-issue Will Farrell/Amy Poehler studio comedy, ranked sixth with a tepid $9 million gross. It’s another mid-level flop.
“The Beguiled” (Focus) entered the Top Ten in still limited play, with “The Big Sick” (Lionsgate...

Mugatu was probably not Will Ferrell’s best role. That might seem like a very simple and even dismissive statement, but let’s get honest about it. Will Farrell is a funny guy, there’s no denying this considering he’s been around so long and has done so much. But sometimes his roles do go a little over the top, which seems to be his niche a lot of the times, and kind of get a little muddled. In Zoolander his role as Mugatu is in fact quite funny, but is it his best? Not quite, but it’s close. With that being said,
Is Mugatu Will Ferrell’s Best Character of All-Time?...

Filmmaker Sofia Coppola (Lost In Translation, The Beguiled) recently told the NY Times that one of her favorite movies is 2015’s Daddy’S Home. “The only film my kids and I equally enjoy together! I love Will Ferrell, and this movie is sweet and fun to watch with cracking-up kids.”
More daddies, more problems. Watch the official trailer for Daddy’S Home 2 in theaters November 10.
In the sequel to the 2015 global smash, father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) have joined forces to provide their kids with the perfect Christmas.
Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho Dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s ultra-affectionate and emotional Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.

Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg have made peace from the first Daddy’s Home, the Paramount comedy that grossed $242.8 million worldwide and quickly spawned a sequel. So who better to replace any tension then Mel Gibson, who plays Wahlberg’s bad-ass dad, and John Lithgow, vamping as Ferrell’s gushy pops, in a sequel? The four collide in Daddy’s Home 2, which returns director Sean Anders and sees the now-together families attempt to spend Christmas as one. Linda Cardellini…...

I wonder if there’s a pop culture franchise I wouldn’t be excited to see turned in to a Lego production at this point. The Lego Batman Movie could have so easily been an uninspired cash-in to take advantage of how profitable Batman is as a character and the good will we all still feel from The Lego Movie but instead we have a movie chock full of funny jokes, intriguing themes, and most importantly a monumental amount of effort. This is such a strong children’s movie that I saw it in a packed house on a Saturday night with basically no children, and it was the most boisterous crowd I’ve been a part of in recent memory. Lego Batman is a triumph, a shining beacon, that every other DC movie should be trying to reach the same level of competence or at least figuring out how...

When 2016 soon comes to its grateful end, it will be a record year at the box office. Bringing up the rear are four wide studio releases and a fifth initial expansion with “Sing” (Universal), “Assassin’s Creed” (20th Century Fox), and “Passengers” (Sony) on Wednesday, “Why Him?” (20th Century Fox) on Friday, and the national release of “Fences” (Paramount) on Christmas Day.
They will all play in the wake of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (Disney), which should remain on top through the holidays. Meantime, “Moana” (Disney) and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” (Warner Bros.) will hold and thrive, with the more recent “Office Christmas Party” (Paramount) and “Collateral Beauty” (Warner Bros.) joining the fray.
Top awards contenders like “La La Land” (Lionsgate), “Manchester by the Sea” (Roadside Attractions), and “Jackie” all plan to add new dates, and could do as well or better than some studio releases.

School events aren't what they used to be - just ask the students at the Center for Early Education in La. On Saturday, Beyoncé attended the school's annual gala, which was hosted by Will Farrell and Billy Crystal, at the Shrine Auditorium. While there, Beyoncé, who stunned in a gold and black zebra print dress, took the stage and performed a handful of songs, including "Crazy in Love" and Whitney Houston's legendary ballad, "I Will Always Love You." Naturally, parents and administrators alike all took to Instagram to share snippets of the epic performance. In one 15-second clip shared by Instagram user Wanda McDaniel, the singer is shown covering Whitney's famous song along with a caption that reads, "#Cee #QueenBey sings #whitneyhouston Listen to the children's voices. #sosweet #cee75 We will always love you #revetabowers." Beyoncé's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, is currently enrolled at the Center for Early Education,...

If the sheer number of celebrity cameos could make a comedy funny, Zoolander 2 would be hilarious. It is not. In fact, Zoolander 2 is a dull, overloaded slog that it is more likely to evoke snores than laughs.
Even for those who loved the original, Zoolander 2 (also known as “Zoolander No. 2,” in a little Chanel reference that illustrates the film’s level of cliche comedy) does not offer much and tops the list as candidate for this year’s most unneeded sequel. Oh, there are a few chuckles in this follow-up to Ben Stiller’s send-up of dim-witted models and the fashion world, but there are just not enough of them to keep the audience awake through most of this slow-moving, plot-heavy movie. The movie is basically made up of quoted song lyrics, and movie references and cliches, and several plots, all seasoned with a mind-boggling number of celebrity cameos.
