One of the more significant mysteries in Star Trek: Discovery was where the USS Enterprise traveled to before being found in season 2. The introduction of the Enterprise crew, including Mr. Spock and Commander Pike, proved crucial to events in the sophomore season of the show, but up to now we didn’t get much from the series about what took place before their meeting with the USS Discovery. A new novel, however, titled Star Trek: Discovery – The Enterprise War, has finally revealed the backstory to the Enterprise’s mission.
We already know that the Enterprise missed the Federation-Klingon war of season 1 due to being in deep space, but according to ComicBook.com, John Jackson Miller’s Enterprise War fleshes out the story by placing Pike’s ship in the Pergamum Nebula, and therefore cut off from standard communications with Starfleet. Once alerted to the war, Pike wanted to return, but...

If you ever doubted the powers of the Machiavellian shadow group pulling the strings at Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm, now is the time to lay them to rest. Without a single leak, they’ve managed to map at least 20 new books that will lay the foundation for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Entertainment Weekly first broke the news earlier today. Entitled “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the project includes novels on everyone from Princess Leia and Han Solo to Darth Vader and beyond. It will also dive into the original trilogy, retelling the classic tales from the perspective of as yet unannounced secondary characters. While I initially thought all the novels and comics would be released prior to the December 18, 2015 movie release, the announcement simply states that “At least 20 new books […] will be released this fall to fill the gap between 1983’s Return of the Jedi and...

Come with me on a journey back in time. All the way back to December of 2014 when, in a wake of ignorance, John Boyega told racist “Star Wars” fans where they could go. Well, those same fans are Really gonna hate what I found in the first official "Star Wars" novel to be published since Disney swept decades of Expanded Universe lore off the table. While misinformed purists cried that Stormtroopers are clones and casting Boyega* ruined everything, Disney/Lucasfilm have been quietly stating otherwise. For example, “Star Wars Rebels” producer Dave Filoni confirmed to HitFix that the remaining clones are old and grey long before "Episode IV." *Of course, Boyega could be pulling a Luke Skywalker but the fact remains, undercover or not there is no reason to think Stormtroopers are still Jango Fett clones. The most definitive debunking of the clones theory though, is hidden in the page...

The What?: It’s a column on Star Wars news and rumors and therefore contains Spoilers and Speculation. If you’re not into those things, well, you're rookie status is showing.
This Week: The pieces have begun to come together and now I’m feeling a little bit better about the Expanded Universe getting the big boot before Star Wars: Rebels and Episode VII.
Hello LucasFilm Story Group!
Do you remember that scene in Hook where all the lost boys are on Rufio's side until a little kid (Pockets? Patches?) stretches his face out to get rid of the wrinkles and he says "Oh There you are, Peter?"
That just happened with me and Star Wars: "Oh There you are, post-Avengers MegaFranchise."
Up until now it looked like Jj Abrams was going to get to call the shots like he did with Lost, Fringe and the Star Trek reboot,...

A while ago, we reported on Lucasfilm forming a group specifically to organize the Star Wars Expanded Universe (or EU) which comprised of it's books, games, comics, etc. The overall goal, would be to finally give Star Wars a unified canon spread out between it's films and everything else. A lot of cleaning up had to be done, especially with new movies on the way, and today Lucasfilm has officially announced their plans for the EU moving forward, on top of some new books to look forward to that'll be officially part of the new canon. Come inside to check it all out!
Well folks, us nerds have been waiting a long time for some official Star Wars news, and while today's revelations don't specifically pertain to Episode VII, it does have far reachign effects on the entire Star Wars universe as we know it. It's an announcement we knew was coming,...

Here is an official "Star Wars: Episode VII" update from Lucasfilm:
"...for over 35 years, the 'Expanded Universe' has enriched the 'Star Wars' experience for fans seeking to continue the adventure beyond what is seen on the screen. When he created 'Star Wars', George Lucas built a universe that sparked the imagination, and inspired others to create. He opened up that universe to be a creative space for other people to tell their own tales. This became the Expanded Universe, or EU, of comics, novels, videogames and more.
"While Lucasfilm always strived to keep the stories created for the EU consistent with our film and television content as well as internally consistent, Lucas always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU. He set the films he created as the canon. This includes the six 'Star Wars' episodes, and the many hours of...

Lucasfilm has released a statement that officially addresses the Star Wars Expanded Universe. They say that the EU will not be used in the films, games, TV shows and other franchise products that are currently being developed. But, that can draw pieces from the EU if they want to. Below you'll find a full press release from StarWars.com, and a video you can watch focuses on the history of expanded universe.

And if you were waiting for General Thrawn to mosey onto the scene and reboot the Clone Wars for Jj Abrams then I’m sorry to say that you’re out of luck.
As expected Lucasfilm today gave its clearest indication of how the forthcoming Episode VII will fit with the massive amount of mythology and extra-curricular tales which have been created since the Jedi Returned over three decades ago. The films are, obviously, the foundation on which the Star Wars world is built but the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series were piled into the canon as is the forthcoming Star Wars: Rebels.
Elements are there for filmmakers, comic book writers and artists to plunder and poke as is their wont, however the actual springboard from which Episode VII will leap onto the big screen is now honed, and clarified.
The full statement is below this fine video...

Lucasfilm has officially cleared up any lingering confusion about the "Star Wars" Expanded Universe and how it fits into the new "Star Wars" canon going forward (ie. not at all).
For those unfamiliar, the 'Expanded Universe' refers to events, characters and places seen in tie-in media to the "Star Wars" franchise - namely books, games, comics, cartoons, etc.
Today, Lucasfilm has issued both a press release and a video explaining that only the six films and the 'Clone Wars' TV series are official canon - that's it.
New "Star Wars" projects can draw pieces from existing Expanded Universe stories, but all previous 'Expanded Universe' material is essentially rendered moot.
Here's the press release:
