This week on Comics Corner, we have a look at Deadman #1 from DC Comics, with details on a glow-in-the-dark cover of this issue, and we also take a look at The Walking Dead #173, Gravediggers Union #1 plus six preview pages, two covers for Clue #5, Extremity #8, Paper Girls #17, and Red Sonja #10.
Deadman #1: "“Journey into Death” part one! When we last left Deadman, the true story had barely begun! Deadman’s death was unsolved, and his fate was intertwined with that of his parents and siblings. Even the Dark Night Detective couldn’t solve the mysteries of Boston Brand’s fantastic secrets! Now, Batman is back, confronting Deadman about who was really behind his death. Was Boston Brand’s assassination a test for the League of Assassins? Why does Batman think Ra’s al Ghul was involved? And why does Deadman need the help of Zatanna, Phantom Stranger, Dr. Fate and the Spectre to defend Nanda Parbat?...

Daniel Warren Johnson has made quite the book with Extremity. He has been able to create this vast creative world full of its own distinctive history. That world building has not taken away from any of the entertainment as the battles he constructs are brutally compelling, and through effective character work those battles actually mean something.
Here he adds another thematic layer as this issue deals with how the loss of loved ones effects our purpose. The issue opens with Thea along with her father visiting the grave of her mother. From the start we see the crux dilemma of this issue and that is how they along with Rollo differ in their reaction to her death. Jerome’s ownership of her death has laid upon him a level of guilt that has transformed into anger and purpose.

A couple months ago it was announced that Goosebumps author R.L. Stine would be writing a Man-Thing comic book series for Marvel. That seemed to get fans excited about Man-Thing, and today we have a preview for you to check out along with a collection of cover art from various artists. But first, here's the synopsis:
Attempting to recreate the formula that produced Captain America, biochemist Ted Sallis was transformed into the shambling creature known only as Man-thing! Now, having recently regained his ability to speak, Man-Thing sets out on a journey to leave the swamp once and for all. But when an ancient and mysterious danger threatens reality, he will have to choose between his new life and the place he once called home!
Stine is working with artists German Peralta and Daniel Warren Johnson along with Tyler Crook, who does the cover art. Man-Thing #1 is set to hit shelves on March 8th.

Odds are that either you or some of your friends in middle school were addicted to horror stories penned by acclaimed writer R.L. Stine, namely from series such as Fear Street and Goosebumps. In the time since being originally published, the latter made the jump to comic books, so it’s highly appropriate that Stine take the next step by assuming the reins on Man-Thing.
Originating during a time when the lines between superhero and monster comics were becoming evermore blurred, the tragic Man-Thing has since gone on to become a cult favorite among True Believers and has even appeared in various animated series as well as an all but forgotten film released in 2005.
In the gallery above, be sure to check out some fantastic interior art courtesy of German Peralta (Moon Knight, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) in...

Published by Dark Horse Comics
First of all, there is nothing wrong with comics and stories in general filled with big explosions, blood splatters, and fire fights, especially if they’re part of the action or military genre. The Ghost Fleet #1 squarely fits into these kind of stories and relishes in its military credentials from the first page, which has a typically gory panel of Andrew Jackson and his soldiers fighting the British with some smaller panels showing Jackson’s covert activities with French privateers. The mix of over the top action and espionage is a nice hook for the comic, but Ghost Fleet decides to predominantly focus on the action part. This is a black ops story that happens to feature truckers with military training, but writer Donny Cates doesn’t flesh out...
