You became a surprise hit for Netflix, upon its premiere in 2018, which follows the story of a bookstore manager named Joe Goldberg, who is also a serial killer. You’re terminated… The stakes seem higher than ever these days, whether a Aaa action film is a success or a failure. The amount of money that needs to be pumped into these films, plus the global marketing often means that new ideas are cast aside for the more likely bet of a sequel, prequel or remake. Very quickly then the talk now turns to a “franchise” rather than a film series as, of course now we are talking about funko pops and various other plastic tat that we nerds can’t seem to resist.
On the one hand, it has meant that kids from the 1980s, like me have got to wallow in our own crapulence for years.

Paramount has launched development of a third “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie — two years after “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” was a serious disappointment.
The studio has hired Andrew Dodge, whose credits include “Bad Words,” to write the script. Producers are Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller through their Platinum Dunes production company.
The studio is aiming to reboot the franchise through the third “Ninja Turtles” project.
Paramount’s two movies are based on the comic by Kevin Eastman and Kevin Laird about wisecracking pizza-loving turtle superheroes named after the Renaissance artists Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo and Donatello, using ninja skills acquired from a radioactive New York City rat. The first movie, simply called “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” was released in 2014 and grossed $493 million worldwide while “Out of the Shadows” took in about half that.

If you can do an interview in person, it’s usually better to do so. It’s just easier to communicate with someone in the same room as you, from timing to noticing clues as to when they’re bored of your stupid questions. But interviewing Pete Ploszek over the phone comes with a benefit.
Pete Ploszek plays Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows. He physically plays him, but you wouldn’t know it to look at him because of the use of motion capture technology (a mixture of visual effects science and ancient magic rituals). In the wake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hitting the big screen back in 2014, very few critics were asking for more where it came from. General audiences, however, made the film a smash hit success at the box office, so it was only a matter of time before those heroes in a half shell returned to do battle with villains much more outlandish than The Shredder. In the interest of full disclosure, I’m one of those few critics who was asking for more back in 2014. And I sure am glad we got it.

IMAX has released a new poster for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, and it features the heroes in a half shell alongside human allies Casey Jones and April O’Neil.
Despite receiving a mixed response in 2014, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles grossed just shy of $500 million worldwide, so the fact that we’re getting this sequel is hardly a surprise. However, adding so many fan-favourite characters and hopefully an acknowledgement of what didn’t work in the first instalment will with any luck go some way in ensuring that the follow-up fares a little better.
Based on the reviews for this one so far, it is a success in that respect, thought still not necessarily what you might call a “good” movie. Of course, like the Transformers franchise for example, this isn’t the kind...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originated in 1984 as a self-published comic book by two guys in New Hampshire, intended as a one-off parody of Cerebus, New Mutants, and the work of Frank Miller. More than 30 years on, there have been multiple comic series, four TV show adaptations, numerous video games, countless toys, and now six movies. It’s a bona-fide cultural phenomenon. And yet all you have to do is recite the name to remind yourself that it was all intended as a joke. Nostalgia is a helluva thing.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows not only recognizes this, but directly exploits it. Nearly all the hallmarks of the 1987 Tmnt cartoon (the biggest millennial touchstone for the franchise), are present here, including several that have never appeared in any of the theatrical films before. And this may indeed win over fans, going by the grown men at my screening...

You could tell that he was a fan of ‘80s Amblin’ films and that he’d absorbed the lessons of the film on a nearly molecular level like many of the film nerd kids who grew up on those movies. More than anything, he got the relationships between the kids right in that film, and it appears he carried that skill set over to a franchise that I have very little personal fondness for, resulting in what may well be the most consistently fun live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie ever made. It’s easy to dismiss someone’s fondness for something as pure nostalgia, but it’s also reductive and, in many cases, not why someone loves something. I may not personally be a Turtles fan, but I know enough of them (and have fathered a...

The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is a notable step up from the last. Here's our review...
The key to adapting a comic book franchise into a modern blockbuster, you might think, is to stick closely to the source material. Certainly if you want to avoid a very loud and very angry fan backlash. Go back to the comics and give the fans what they want. In the case of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that’s not really the case.
There are a good few of us who really love those original Mirage comic books, but a larger group of Turtles fans want an adaptation of the vastly different cartoon series from the 1980s. They want characters like Krang and Bebop and Rocksteady. As illogical as it might sound, you have to make a faithful adaptation of an unfaithful adaptation. And that’s exactly what director...

Vanilla Ice surprised attendees at the premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows at Madison Square Garden when he performed his classic 1991 song "Ninja Rap." The song was made famous when he performed it in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Of course, he was joined on stage by four dancers dressed up in costumes that looked like cheap versions of the original Ninja Turtle movie costumes. It's a nice throwback to the Ninja Turtles films that many of us grew up with. For those of you not familiar with the original song, or you just want to relive its cheesy awesomeness, I included the original scene from The Secret of the Ooze below.

Paramount Pictures has released the final trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. By now you're either sold on the film and excited to see it or you're not. The new trailer is loaded with new footage of the Ninja Turtles in action fighting Shredder, Rocksteady & Bebop, and Kraang.
Producer Michael Bay and director Dave Green have incorporated a ton of characters from the original animated series, hoping that the fans will forgive them for the last film. Will it work? Only time will tell. If this sequel is a success, you can bet we'll be seeing more Ninja Turtle sequels. If it fails... well, they'll still probably keep the franchise alive anyway.

Back in March, we learned that Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) was going to voice the villainous Krang in Paramount Pictures' upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Out Of The Shadows, however, it looks like that's no longer the plan. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that due to a scheduling conflict, Armisen was forced to bow out of the project and now, Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett will be the one to lend his voice to the classic Turtles villain. He's the latest newcomer to join the cast following Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop and Stephen "Sheamus" Farrelly as Rocksteady. The cast is headlined by Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, and Jeremy Howard as the actors behind the four heroes in a half-shell with Danny Woodburn playing their mentor Splinter (& Tony Shalhoub providing his voice). The live-action supporting cast consists of Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Stephen Amell,...

What would Vin Diesel do?
In this action-packed exclusive clip from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows," Raphael (Alan Ritchson) asks himself that very question before jumping out of a plane ... to land on another plane, presumably as part of a mission.
His brothers in turtle arms have already taken the plunge, led by Donatello (Jeremy Howard), who reminds them they have a 30-second window. He's followed by Leonardo (Pete Ploszek), and then Michelangelo (Noel Fisher) -- even though he doesn't have a chute.
"I don't need a chute, I've got my board," Michelangelo yells, diving out the door. "Woohoooooo!"
As the first three turtles land on the other plane, Raphael summons the bravery of his idol, Diesel: "No regrets. No fear!" Go big or go home, right?

Three new TV spots have been released for director Dave Green’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Two of them include new footage of the brain-like alien villain Krang as well as new footage of several of the other characters. It seems like a lot of fans are excited to see Krang make an appearance in this sequel. From what I’ve seen of the film, it looks like producer Michael Bay and the rest of the creative team wanted to heavily represent the cartoon series that many of us grew up with. That’s what fans were hoping to see in the first film. It looks like the producers heard their complaints and are trying to make up for it in the sequel. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all turns out.

We have a couple of new TV spots for you to watch for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and they feature quite a bit of new footage. There are a lot more people excited about seeing this movie than I thought there would be. I saw an extended clip from the film last week at CinemaCon which features the turtles jumping out of an airplane onto another airplane. This movie is going to have a lot of over-the-top action, and on top of that Krang, Rocksteady, and Bebop will be included. You know what? I might actually be excited about this movie had I not seen the first one. Hopefully, the sequel actually turns out better. There’s no doubt that fans of the first movie are going to love this, though.

With Rocksteady, Bebop, Shredder, Krang, and Casey Jones all slated to appear in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows," it looks like it's going to be a fanboy feast for this sequel which steps things up from the surprising, blockbuster original. Dave Green ("Earth To Echo") is behind the camera for this one that finds Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Leonardo back in action, once again uniting to the save the day, eat some pizza, and be totally bodacious in this Michael Bay-produced tentpole. Starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Laura Linney, Sheamus, and Gary Anthony Williams, 'Out Of The Shadows' opens on June 3rd.

Paramount Pictures brought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows to WonderCon this weekend. It was there they announced that former SNL comedian Fred Armisen would be providing the voice of the alien villain Krang in the movie. This is a very interesting and unexpected casting choice.
During the panel, producer Andrew Form talked about how good of a fit Armisen is for the character and says, “Anyone who’s a fan of Krang will love what Fred is doing. It’s unbelievable." So I guess that's something that fans of the film franchise have to look forward too.
As most of you already know, Krang is an alien brain warlord from another dimension who reside in a giant android exoskeleton. It's one of the most ridiculous things from the franchise, but thats why I loved the series so much as a kid!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Clip Shows the Party Wagon in Action, Plus Our First Look at Shredder
Cowabunga dudes! In case you missed it during the Kid's Choice Awards, the first clip from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows has been released online. This is an action-packed clip that features the Ninja Turtles in hot pursuit driving the Party Wagon. The clip shows off some of the van's crazy weaponry, which includes nunchuck wielding robot arms. The van looks like it was built to be in a Mad Max movie, but I don't think it would survive that world.
I also included an image giving us our first look at the new Shredder character design. The image was posted by actor Brian Tee, who plays the villain. As you can see, this version of Shedder is closer to the source material than the laughable version in the previous movie.
