When the final five artists take the stage Monday and Tuesday night for “The Voice” season 22 finale, Morgan Myles will do so under the advisement of first-time coach Camila Cabello. Should Morgan win, it would be only the second time that a coach mentored an artist to win in their own first season. Kelly Clarkson was the first to achieve that feat on season 14 with Brynn Cartelli.

While the laurel of earning Camila a win is nothing to scoff at, Morgan winning would be an incredible feat for the artist that was not only the first performer in the Blind Auditions, but also the first four chair turn of the season. Morgan sang “Hallelujah” during that first impression and was so good that Camila jumped out of the gate with her only block to keep Morgan from joining Gwen Stefani‘s team.

Bryce and Brayden didn’t even have to sing for the Wildcard Instant Save with Team Legend showstopper Omar Jose Cardona.
Jaws dropped on Tuesday, when Team Blake Shelton’s fine-but-not-phenomenal Bryce Leatherwood and Brayden Lape made the Final Five, and Team John Legend’s demonstrably more skilled Kim Cruse and Parijita Bastola were eliminated along with Team Gwen Stefani’s last remaining member, powerhouse Justin Aaron. Bryce and Brayden didn’t even have to sing for the Wildcard Instant Save with Team Legend showstopper Omar Jose Cardona.

Tuesday night’s results show of “The Voice” semi-finals revealed that for only the third time in 22 seasons will a coach enter the finale with three artists in contention. While that feat is impressive, Blake Shelton should be worried because the other two times it’s happened — once on his watch and once on Adam Levine‘s — that coach lost. Team Blake will enter the Season 22 finale of “The Voice” on Monday night with bodie, Brayden Lape and Bryce Leatherwood all competing for the win, but history says they could be in danger and that Team Camila Cabello‘s Morgan Myles or Team John Legend‘s Omar Jose Cardona might prevail instead.

“The Voice” will crown its Season 22 champion on Tuesday, December 13 after the Top 5 take their final bows on the Monday, December 12 performance episode. Coach Blake Shelton has three artists vying to bring him his record-extending ninth victory: bodie, Brayden Lape and Bryce Leatherwood. Rookie coach Camila Cabello has one artist at play with Morgan Myles while John Legend is looking for his second victory with Omar Jose Cardona. Gwen Stefani, who coached Carter Rubin to a Season 19 victory the last time she sat in the big red chair, failed to advance any artist to this cycle’s finale.

Is the decade-long “The Voice” Instant Save curse about to be broken? If John Legend‘s Florida singer Omar Jose Cardona ends up winning Season 22 during the Tuesday, December 13 finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by social media users. Since the creation of the Instant Save twist in Season 6, none of its recipients have ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished near the bottom of their respective finales.

The semi-finals of “The Voice” Season 22 culminated in the triple eliminations of some of the NBC reality TV show’s most talented artists: Parijita Bastola of Team John Legend, Justin Aaron of Team Gwen Stefani and Kim Cruse of Team Legend. The Voice continues to whittle down its Season 22 competition as it prepares for the Semifinals, unveiling the Top 8 performers moving on after this week’s Top 10 performances. Under the watchful eye of their coaches Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Camila Cabello, team members took to the stage for a shot at the next tier of the competition. As the week kicked off the remaining singers included Team Legend’s Omar Jose Cardona, Parijita Bastola, and Kim Cruse, Team Gwen’s Kique and Justin Aaron, Team Camila’s Morgan Myles, and Team Blake’s bodie, Bryce Leatherwood, Brayden Lape, and Rowan Grace. (Credit: Trae Patton/NBC) Following the live Top 10 performances on Monday, November 28, it was unveiled the next day that the bottom three performers of the week were Kim Cruse, Kique, and Rowan Grace. Only an Instant Save could prevent one of them from going home and help them advance to the Semifinals.

So close and yet so far. Just shy of Season 22’s Semi-Finals, two contestants were eliminated from The Voice Tuesday.
Based on the poll that followed TVLine’s recap Monday, the unlucky duo was going to be Team Gwen Stefani’s Kique and Team Blake Shelton’s Rowan Grace. Me — whether or not I have an ear infection — I’d have advanced Kique over Team Blake’s Brayden Lape; despite his way-better-than-average-for-him showing Monday, the teenage dream lacks the experience and/or instincts at this point to be a really compelling performer. (Great hair will only take ya so far.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Season 22 of The Voice is a tricky-ass one. On one hand, we’ve got a handful of seriously talented contestants. On the other — as always, I suppose — we have no guarantee that our fellow viewers will vote through the seriously talented ones (like Team Camila Cabello’s Devix, who I already miss) instead of just, say, the cute one (Team Blake Shelton’s Brayden Lape) or the country one (Team Blake’s Bryce Leatherwood).

Before The Voice whittled down Season 22’s Top 13 to its Top 10 this week, I was all set to write an article suggesting that Team John Legend’s Parijita Bastola was as unbeatable as, say, Season 21’s Girl Named Tom or Season 16’s Maelyn Jarmon. Because the series’ first Nepali-American contestant is just. That. Flawless.
