Long before his death behind the wheel of what is said to be a cursed Porsche 550 Spyder in 1955, cultural icon James Dean appeared as Frankenstein's monster in the Fairmount High School play "Goon with the Wind."
William Forsche recently uploaded a very rare image of Dean in full make-up as one of cinema's greatest creations to his Facebook page. Take a look at the goods below.
2014 is looking to be the biggest year for the Frankenstein monster yet with several films being released based on Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's titular literary character. Shelley crafted her tale, Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus, way back in 1818. How's that for staying power?
Unless you're either really young, really stupid, or have been living under a rock, you should know the story of Victor Frankenstein's monstrous creation and the havoc it caused, which has enthralled generations of readers and inspired countless writers of horror and suspense.

The Gangster
Written by Kongkiat Khomsiri
Directed by Kongkiat Khomsiri
Thailand, 2012
Templates exist for a reason. Their existence can serve as inspiration for future inventors, politicians, activists and artists to build upon and carve their own meaningful place within the domain of their choosing. In the case of art, use of a preceding piece of artistic expression can be both useful or counterproductive to creating something new. In film, the gangster genre has its legion of fans, yet at this point in time it is increasingly challenging to tell a fresh story. Thai director Kongkiat Khomsiri delves into the genre with a lavishly produced period piece aptly entitled The Gangster, which nestles itself in a semi-satisfactory zone by neither feeling like a completely tired retread on familiar ground nor bringing anything especially new to the foray.

Here’s what I have to say about The Canyons: Give it to me. Give me porn legend James Deen‘s grit, Lindsay Lohan‘s Lana Del Rey-style languor, and the delicate touch of Bret Easton Ellis to bring it all together. The movie’s theatrical release date is August 9, but it’ll be available on all VOD (video on demand) platforms August 2.
In the meantime, check out these exclusive and official “memes” from the movie. James Deen is delivering moodiness that I find slightly more Monty Clift than James Dean, and Lohan “seems happy” but might be “totally faking it.” What could it all mean?

The Sopranos Season 1, Episode 1 ‘The Sopranos’
Written by David Chase
Directed by David Chase
Aired 1/10/1999 on HBO
When we first meet Tony Soprano, he’s sitting in a waiting room, staring at a statue of a naked woman exposing her breasts. The first shot frames Tony’s face between her legs, then a series of shots closing in on Tony’s face, the statue’s breasts, Tony’s face, and her face. His brow is wrinkled, and he alternates looking at her and looking at the floor. It’s a fantastic opening shot to one of TV’s most cinematic pilots, establishing a number of important details before a line of dialogue is even spoken: Tony’s black shirt and gold watch suggest some sort of upper-class demeanor – the credits preceding it, with the lyrics talking about “the chosen” one embracing the dark side, also further contextualize Tony’s character...

Mumbai, July 2: Ranveer Singh reveals his look in "Lootera" has been inspired by late Hollywood actor James Dean and Bollywood legend Dev Anand.
"Vikram (director Vikramaditya Motwane) was very clear it had to be an amalgamation of James Dean and Dev Anand. So those were the references that he used to send me," the 28-year-old said here Monday at a Cafe Coffee Day outlet while promoting "Lootera".
"I did not do anything, he (the director) knew the kind of look he wanted, the kind of hair he wanted. Every detail he looked into, so I really didn't give any input this time, it was all Vikram's," he said.
Ranveer is happy.

Making his return to SoCal, Matt- Damon showed up at Lax International Airport last night (June 24).
Joined by his wife Luciano Barroso, the “Good Will Hunting” hunk was greeted by a swarm of fans and stopped to sign autographs as he made his way through the terminal.
In a recent interview, Damon shared that he quit his pack-and-a-half smoking habit back in 2004 when he and his bride decided to start having children.
“I remember my brother gave up before he had kids and he said, ‘I'm going to give myself six months or a year to clear out my system before I, you know...’ Whether there's any wisdom to your sperm-carrying, your system being somehow cleaner, but that was his thing and I remember thinking, ‘Yeah, I'll do that, too.’”
As for how he began smoking, Matt noted, “Ben [Affleck] and I started when we were in high school. We'd see the great actors - [Marlon] Brando,...

Before Matthew Modine became an actor and starred in movies like Vision Quest and Memphis Belle, he dreamed of becoming a painter. It was the back-up career he never needed after a solid 30-year career of memorable roles on film, television, and the Broadway stage. But he never lost his artistic eye, which proved useful in other creative pursuits, beginning with his collaboration with Stanley Kubrick on 1987′s Full Metal Jacket. Modine documented that complicated production experience with still photography, and working with the esteemed director of 2001 and A Clockwork Orange inspired him to try his own hand behind the camera.
