One of the most anticipated sequels and movies of this year, Joker: Folie à Deux, is coming to theaters on October 4, 2024 and after a teaser was released earlier today, the first official trailer is finally here! Todd Phillips is back as director and co-writer, and Joaquin Phoenix is reprising his role from the original movie that brought home two Oscars, as well as a $1.079-billion income. After much teasing, including a teaser released earlier today, the trailer is finally out and you can check it out below.
As we have reported earlier today, Warner Bros. released a short, 30-second teaser showing Arthur crying in the rain, indicating that he is not in a good place, which seems to be an exceptionally important moment in the film’s storyline. The reaser was absolutely great, regardless of the fact that it did not reveal much.
But, we have finally seen the trailer...

A Joker sequel was never technically in the cards. When director Todd Phillips made his anti-superhero origin film about the classic Batman villain — with Joaquin Phoenix in the title role — it was designed to be a standalone film. While Phillips acknowledged he was open to making a follow-up under the right circumstances, he went so far as to stress a month before the film’s October 2019 release: “We have no plans for a sequel … The movie’s not set up to [have] a sequel. We always pitched it as one movie,...

At the end of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s 1988 one-shot Batman: The Killing Joke, the Joker lays out his worldview in plain terms. After testing his theory that “one bad day” could make even the most decent person into a madman like himself, the Joker tells his nemesis, “It’s all a joke! Everything anybody ever valued or struggled for… it’s all a monstrous, demented gag!”
Even more than the grisly sights of The Killing Joke—in which the Clown Prince of Crime sets out to prove his theory by brutalizing Batgirl Barbara Gordon and tormenting her father Commissioner Gordon—that line has set the course of Joker stories of the past several decades. Fans and creators alike try to push the Joker to edgier extremes, forgetting how Batman answers when his nemesis asks why he isn’t laughing. “Because I’ve heard it before,” he responds. “And...

Joker is a movie directed by Todd Phillips starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro and Frances Conroy.
The most awaited movie of the year leads us to a bitter social denouncement in which no one is left standing, that merges satire and flight of fancy. A kick in the mouth for movies about super heroes and the industry.
Joker is the movie of the year, no matter what they say, and mentioning Joaquin Phoenix as an Oscar winner is no longer a pipe dream nor is this movie a clear-cut candidate for the award that, I am afraid, will not receive it.
Storyline Joker (2019)
Arthur Fleck is a comedian (a clown) with a disreputable life that leads him to madness…(maybe not so much). He is considerably pissed off with society and will make someone pay.
About the Movie
Very, very good. Crude, cruel, an uncomfortable fusion of extremes that we love.

Steve McQueen’s upcoming World War 2 feature “Blitz” has added six to its ensemble cast, Variety can reveal.
Benjamin Clementine (“Dune”), Leigh Gill (both pictured above), Mica Ricketts, Cj Beckford, Hayley Squires and Sally Messham are all set to appear in the Apple TV+ film.
They join previously announced Saoirse Ronan (“Little Women”), Stephen Graham (“The Irishman”), Harris Dickinson (“Triangle of Sadness”), Erin Kellyman (“Willow”), Kathy Burke (“Absolutely Fabulous”), newcomer Elliott Heffernan and music artist turned actor Paul Weller.
McQueen is writing, directing and producing the project.
Few details have been released for the Apple original film, which has already gone into production in the U.K. The title “Blitz” refers to the German bombardment of London during World War 2 and it has been confirmed the film will follow a variety of Londoners during 1940 and 1941 as they navigate a new normal. Measures introduced by the British government at the time to reduce fatalities included blackouts,...

Why so serious? It would seem there are a few reasons.
Back when it was announced that The Hangover’s Todd Phillips would helm a standalone DC comic book origin story for the clown prince of crime The Joker, people were immediately annoyed. Even when Joaquin Phoenix was cast in the title role there seemed to be a queue forming for people ready to dislike a film that – so they thought – came with a needless story. And then the hype train started to roll. A rapturous performance at the Venice Film Festival, oscar buzz and initial rave reviews soon was turned into a ridiculously over-publicised and jittery heated online debate ahead of release about incel violence and school shootings, leading to a picture that has divided and then some. Like the debate surrounding video games like Grand Theft Auto, the now thought of as ridiculous perception that Heavy Metal equates...

Director Todd Phillips Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. The film explores the world of Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix, a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night… but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
Three-time Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix stars in the titular role alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro. The film also stars Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, Marc Maron, Douglas Hodge, Josh Pais and Leigh Gill.
