A lot of PG-13 ratings in today's bulletin, that is outside of the Edward Snowden documentary Citizenfour, which scored an R rating "for language". Isn't it sort of funny how documentaries can earn R ratings for language when they are depicting real lifec That simply suggests life around all of us is R-rated. I haven't seen the film yet, but if the language being used isn't any different than the language you could hear just walking downtown in any city should it really be rated Rc I know, old argument, just so weird to see this is the world we still live in. Otherwise, it's a PG-13 for The Age of Adaline starring Blake Lively and Harrison Ford, another one for Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings starring Christian Bale, Julianne Moore's Oscar hopeful Still Alice is another and so is The Woman in Black: Angel of Death.

There were supposed to be 10 pairs of loved ones competing on this season’s Survivor: San Juan del Sur — Blood vs. Water (which debuts Sept. 24 on CBS). But then, just days before filming began in Nicaragua, one of the couples was forced to bow out after a last minute-medical check turned up something that gave the Survivor medics pause. The same thing actually happened during the last Blood vs. Water season when Rc Saint-Amour and her father had to drop out while on location due to medical reasons involving the dad. In that instance, Candice and John Cody were...

The third time was definitely not the charm for Candice Cody (formerly Woodcock). She returned to play again alongside her husband John for Survivor: Blood vs. Water, yet found herself voted out of her tribe mere minutes into the game. Yet the threepeat offender managed to last all the way to day 11 due to her dominance at Redemption Island. However, her skill/luck finally ran out, losing to hubby John and arch-nemesis Brad Culpepper in a duel. Candice called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) this morning to talk all about it. And there was a lot to talk about.

On Survivor: Blood vs. Water, returning contestants from the show have come back to play with/against their loved ones. As a result, we have spouses (Rupert & Laura, Monica & Brad, Candice & John), other couples (Colton & Caleb, Tyson & Rachel, Kat & Hayden), mothers and daughters (Tina & Katie, Laura & Ciera), siblings (Aras & Vytas), and an uncle and niece (Gervase and Marissa).
But what if those newbies could come play with someone else that was not their loved one? Whom then would they pick? I asked them that very question while out on location before the game began. (Well, I asked most of them that question.

Rupert Boneham came into Survivor: Blood vs. Water predicting a one-two finish for him and his wife Laura. He got first, alright. Unfortunately for him, it ended up being first one out. Rupert called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) to talk with Jessica Shaw and me all about his short stint on the island, and we now present that interview for you here on the InsideTV Podcast. Does he regret swapping places with wife Laura and sending himself to Redemption Island? How was his time there with non-Rupert fan Candice? Are other Survivors jealous of his popularity with fans?...

Something was fishy when I arrived in the Philippines the day before the filming began to interview the 10 pairs set to compete in Survivor: Blood vs. Water. Namely, the fact that one of them was missing. Rc Saint-Amour (from Survivor: Philippines) and her father Craig, who were supposed to be one of the dynamic duos, were nowhere to be found. And the other contestants were just as confused as I was. Rc and her dad had indeed traveled over to the Philippines with the other cast members, and were staying at the same pre-game location with them. Then, all of a sudden,...

Survivor: Philippines Review, Season 25, Episode 14
“Million Dollar Question”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Approaching Survivor’s 25th season finale, evidence pointed to a final two that might benefit Lisa and Skupin if the chips fell correctly. The problem was that they were planning for a final three and setting themselves up to lose. Malcolm and Denise are the clear favorites at the start of this episode, and the last hurdle is making the Final Tribal Council. Once Jeff Probst clarifies that it is a final three, the “million dollar question” is who gets the chance to thump Lisa and Skupin. Both could make a convincing argument, but grabbing enough votes from a bitter jury is another matter. Malcolm is set up by the editing as the favorite, which makes his ultimate demise more predictable. The opening reward challenge offers a big advantage to the winner in the final battle.

No Survivor contestant had ever come back to play after being away from the game for so long, but the 11-year absence did not hurt Michael Skupin, as the man with the most famous hands in reality TV history returned for Survivor: Philippines and made it all the way to the final Tribal Council. That’s where things went south, however, as Skupin and Lisa Whelchel were bested by Denise Stapley for the million dollars and title of Sole Survivor. "I do not want to blame it on culture and I do not want to blame it on editing." With those words, uttered late in her exit interview, I found myself coming very close to liking Abi-Maria Gomes, the primary villain of "Survivor: Philippines." Yes, Abi-Maria still makes excuses for the actions that led to her becoming pariah on "Survivor" this season, actions like helping to cause the implosion of her tribe thanks to a fabricated feud with Rc or tormenting a vulnerable Lisa or gloating after a Reward. What do you do with a problem like Abi-Maria? Besides trap her in a makeshift jail made of tree branches and Denise's bandannas? Because that's literally the only idea I have.
Survivor's final seven battled this week, except for the first half hour there wasn't a lot of battling. There was a lot of knowing that Abi-Maria was Dead Crybaby Hamster Walking, and therefore nobody cared one way or the other how the reward or immunity challenges went -- unless of course, Abi-Maria won immunity, which was a physiological impossibility, so why even think of it? Heh.

I wasn't around to recap last Wednesday night's eventful episode of "Survivor: Philippines," but due to the Thanksgiving holiday, I was still able to have my weekly exit interview and chat with Pete Yurkowski about his torch-snuffing. In one of those reversals of fortune that happen three or four times every "Survivor" season, Pete went from atop a seemingly powerful majority alliance to out-of-the-game over a two-episode span. First he helped minimize the Tandang domination by voting against long-time rival Rc, then he lost a tenuous ally when Mike Skupin flipped on Artis. And finally Pete was forced to beg...

After 27 days of scheming and plotting, Pete Yurkowski, the self-proclaimed mastermind of Survivor: Philippines, was sent packing by his tribesmates. The 24-year-old engineering graduate tells People what went wrong – and why there are no hard feelings.

Engineering helps with puzzles and stuff, but it doesn't help with interpersonal relationships and Survivor is a social game.
You had trouble making fire.

Survivor: Philippines Review, Season 25, Episode 10
“Whiners are Weiners”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
There have been plenty of cases on Survivor where interesting characters were lost in the shuffle. If the editors decide they aren’t pivotal to the story, they may provide a limited perspective on them. Artis is a good example of this trend; exit interviews revealed an energetic guy who enjoyed his time on the island. That differs from the grumpy player shown for most of this season. On the other hand, there are nasty individuals who clearly aren’t just victims of the editors. Colton was a good example of this situation last time, and Abi-Maria plays a similar role in the Philippines. She nastily attacks other players and gets personal, which creates an uncomfortable environment. Rc was naïve enough to think she could work with Abi, but there’s little room to work with such a volatile person.

In the background of every episode of Survivor, there was Artis Silvester – growling, frowning, pacing. But the 53-year-old computer engineer tells People he was having the time of his life, although he still carries a grudge against one player.
You tried out for Survivor several times. Why did it take so long?
I started trying out at season 2. Then I got cancer. They pulled a big mass out of my neck and I lost about 60 lbs. during chemo and radiation. But I kept trying, and I was thrilled to be cast.
Watching the show, you always looked angry. Didn't you enjoy your Survivor experience?...

He may have aligned with the wrong people in Abi and Pete, but Artis Silvester was all class in his final words after being voted off of Survivor: Philippines. However, as we found on on the InsideTV Podcast, that does not mean he doesn’t hold a grudge. And that grudge is aimed squarely at Michael Skupin. You know – the crazed old sea captain who leads his crew to their certain doom in his quest to destroy the White Whale?
Except in Survivor: Philippines, the captain is named Jeff Kent. And the white whale goes by Jonathan instead of Moby Dick.
Who knows what trauma caused Jeff Kent's vendetta against Jonathan Penner? Penner didn't rip off his leg. But maybe Kent blames him for his bum knee? The only sure thing is that Kent will destroy...

Oh, yes. Sweet yes. Survivor jumped to the merge this week, brought together a heap of disagreeable, aloof players, and forced them into a prickly, weird-ass tribal council that left everyone looking pretty stupid. This? This is my heaven. Wednesday's episode was undoubtedly the most entertaining of the season, and I'm not just saying that because one of my least favorite people was banished (along with her cream-colored pantsuit from an abandoned Talbot's outlet). It wasn't just that. But it was a lot that.
Plus, plenty our favorite players kept being great. And a couple of beleaguered contestants outsmarted some heavy-hitters and earned our respect. Let's reinspect the episode's greatest hits.
Can I still be gay and marry the hell out of Denise?

Last week on "Survivor: Philippines," Kalabaw went down another member, while Tandang continues to get along surprisingly poorly considering how much they've won.
The Merge
Michael tempts fate by commenting that if he makes it three more hours, he'll have surpassed last time when he fell in the fire. And then he promptly gets eaten by a shark.
No, he doesn't. It's merge time. And Denise is pumped because she's pretty sure she can get back with Malcolm. I think she's probably right -- they haven't been separated for that long and he knows how loyal and smart she is.
Does anyone else think if Michael and Rc are smart, they'll go with the Kalabaws? Can they read their tribe well enough to figure that out? It seems like Michael has figured that out, but Rc ... not so sure about.

Survivor 25,Philippines eliminated Roberta Rc Saint-Amour in episode 7 tonight. Tonight's episode ,kicked off with more commentary footage. The two tribes learned that they would finally be merging, and everyone was just so excited about it. Rc and Mike stuck together. Jeff wanted Jonathan Penner out as soon as possible. In fact, a lot of the tribemembers plotted to get Jonathan out. Next, they headed to the immunity challenge. This one had two winners, one guy and one girl. In the comp, they had to hold up a heavy bucket with their body weight and hands at the end of a cable apparatus. The last one holding their bucket up,won. Tough, little Denise pulled out the victory on the women's side, while Carter won on the men's side. So,Denise and Carter were safe this round. Then Jonathan and Rc's name came up for elimination with Jonathan as the main target.

Survivor: Philippines Review, Season 25, Episode 6
“Down and Dirty”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
It’s a testament to Survivor‘s staying power when moments that haven’t been seen in the past still happen. Few shows make it to 25 seasons, so this is already unprecedented territory. This week’s reward challenge is a strange affair where the action reaches a total standstill. The exhausted competitors are literally stuck in the mud but refuse to give up the prize of a giant meal. It’s up to Penner to recognize the futility (or boredom) and work out a deal with Skupin. Kalabaw gives up the remainder of their rice, and Tandang gives up the reward of giant sandwiches. The situation is awkward because few players on either side are happy about the deal. Artis is the most vocal to grumble about the move, but he isn’t willing to put his foot down.

When we last left "Survivor: Philippines," Dawson was sent packing and it was surprisingly not for being a Jeff Probst stalker. Let's see who goes home .... Tonight.
Kalabaw
Katie and Denise are sure Penner's got the Hidden Idol and they're a little nervous because their all-girl alliance is done. They think they've gotta make a play to blindside Jonathan. That would be pretty amazing, honestly. Penner is one of the most astute "Survivor" players, you have to get up pretty earlier to pull one over on him.
Tandang
Apparently Mike has been snacking on the dry rice and the tribe's supply is pretty depleted. Uh, dude -- what is wrong with you? I'm with his tribemates, he's being really irresponsible with the food. Also, have they not won any food when they've been winning challenges? Hmm. And is there nothing else to eat out there?

Survivor: Philippines Review, Season 25, Episode 5
“Got My Swag Back”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
The opening four episodes of this Survivor season have spent a majority of time with the Matsing tribe, who lost every challenge. The battle lines have been drawn for the Tandang and Kalabaw tribes, but the conflicts haven’t played out at Tribal Council. This pivotal episode finally changes that trend and dramatically alters each tribe’s place in the game. Kalabaw dominated most of the early challenges, but bad luck and a challenge loss knocks out two members this time. While neither was a major player on the show so far, it’s still quite a change. They’ll start next week in a tough position where they really need to turn it around. This quick shift into difficult circumstances is a new place for a group that has rolled through the competition so far.

Can Malcolm and Denise rally and go all butt-kickers on the other two "Survivor: Philippines" tribes? Let's find out.
Matsing
Denise is convinced they're going to be split up and one sent to each of the remaining tribes. So they decide they've gotta make one last effort to find the Hidden Idol, in case they don't come back to their beach. They finally manage to find the Idol on the rice basket. So, who takes it if they send you to two different tribes? Turns out Malcolm does, by virtue of the fact that he snatched it up first. Hmm.
Reward Challenge
Jeff tells Malcolm and Denise to drop their buffs and they draw for which tribe they'll join -- Malcolm goes to Tandang and Denise goes to Kalabaw. Bummer. I wanted to root for Malcolm and Denise on their own.
The challenge is one-on-one where you just try to...

Survivor: Philippines Review, Season 25, Episode 4
“Create a Little Chaos”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Russell Swan is a very competitive guy. He claims to strive for excellence in everything that he does. When he loses a challenge, it must be part of God’s plan, not because of the superior performance of his opponents. This approach makes sense for a 13-year-old, but it seems pretty silly for a guy who’s been on this Earth for 45 years. After this week’s immunity challenge, he smashes a bottle of rice and can’t understand why he’s being put through so much turmoil. After mistakenly calling Jeff Probst “Lord”, Russell calms down but doesn’t step away from his simplistic view on athletic competitions. It’s an uncomfortable moment for everyone involved, but it also provides fascinating insights about his approach. Even with the drama, it’s more interesting...

Apologies for the lateness of this recap of "Survivor: Philippines." Our CBS station preempted it for a congressional debate and "Survivor" aired in the middle of the night. Anyway, let's find out if Matsing can finally win something.
Matsing
Malcolm, Russell and Denise seem in pretty good spirits, all things considered. They certainly are down to three very strong competitors, so in the right kind of challenge, they could definitely win.
Russell starts looking for the Idol and Denise catches him. In a rather delightful bit of editing, he talks about how he's probably walking back and forth right in front of the Idol and the camera crew is going to focus right on it and of course, that's just what they do. It's nice he has the self-awareness to at least acknowledge he's kind of a doof. Heh.
Tandang
The clue to the Idol is found in the camp...

Survivor: Philippines is getting more predictable each week, yet the show is entertaining the hell out of me. How? Well, the Matsing tribe is shaping up to be a bigger tragedy than the following items: 1) Gilda Radner's death at the age of 42; 2) the Hindenberg stuffed with three Exxon-Valdezes; 3) Jeff Probst's hunger for daytime TV acceptance. The Matsing losing streak is just spellbinding. It can't get any worse for these guys, but mysteriously, the show keeps getting better for us. Here are my five most ponder-worthy observations about last night's episode.
1. If your favorite tribe isn't Matsing, I don't understand.
Have you taken a close look at the Kalabaw and Tandang tribes? Because it hurts. Even a passing glance makes you realize they're filled with unlikable people. Abi-Maria is a huffy spazz, R.C. is self-impressed and condescending, Lisa Whelchel and Jeff Kent are downright antigay, Pete is melodramatic,...

Each week, host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Survivor: Philippines.
Entertainment Weekly: Let’s get right into Russell’s tirade after losing the immunity challenge. He went on about how he always expects success. That mirrors the mindset of a lot of athletes who say you need to have that type of thought process to succeed. But when that expected success doesn’t come, it can get ugly. Is that type of attitude an asset or a liability in this game?
Jeff Probst: An absolute liability. I think Russell has a few...

Survivor 25,Philippines eliminated Russell Swan in episode 4 tonight. Tonight's show kicked off with the "now dwindled to 3" Matsing tribe ,contemplating how they could make a miraculous comeback. Abi found a clue hanging out of Rc's bag after Pete planted it there. That made Abi even more pissed off at Rc,and Pete was loving it,since it caused chaos. At the Kalabaw tribe, Jeff and Jonathan decided to team up. Carter also decided to team up with Jeff and Jonathan. That made the girls nervous,so they decided to ban together. Russell Swan started hustling to find the immunity idol, because he really thought he might need it. Denise caught him searching, which made her suspicious. She went and told Malcolm, and they searched through Russell's things to see if they could find out if he hid it. Rc and Abi kept fighting, and the rest of their...
