Go90, a mobile video service from Verizon, is hoping to build hype for its launch through an enticing programming slate. After previously announcing deals with networks like Machinima and Endemol Beyond, Go90 has now revealed a pact with production company New Form Digital that will bring six new series to the upcoming service.
New Form, which launched in 2014, is best known for co-developing projects with YouTube stars; its first two series, Pj Liguori's Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures and Sawyer Hartman's The Parallax Theory, both premiered on Vimeo On Demand in September. Five of the six series included in New Form’s Go90 deal have been revealed; they’re all based on pilots New Form released as part of the two incubator series it has launched on YouTube. Here, via Variety, are summaries about the five announced series:

One week after it premiered its first full web series, New Form Digital has returned with a second. The young studio co-founded by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Discovery Communications has brought The Parallax Theory, a sci-fi thriller helmed by YouTube star Sawyer Hartman, to the creator-friendly Vimeo On Demand selling platform.
While it was born out of the same batch of pilots that begat Oscar’s Hotel, The Parallax Theory is very different from New Form’s other new series. While Oscar’s Hotel is a whimsical romp through the colorful halls of its titular establishment, The Parallax Theory is a moody sci-fi thriller centered on a scientist who must warn the world of impending calamity. The first episode is now available for purchase on Vimeo On Demand, where interested viewers can also watch the show’s trailer:

Yesterday, we shared a profile of Sawyer Hartman, who is using Vimeo On Demand to distribute his upcoming project Parallax Theory. Hartman is one of several guests who will participate in regular sessions at the Vimeo Studio during VidCon. The day after his event at Vimeo’s space, the two founders of Supergravity Pictures--Marc Hustvedt and Max Benator--will stop by to talk about their work converting digital video stars into feature film leads.
Supergravity, which launched in 2014, already has several films on its docket, including Kian Lawley vehicle The Chosen, which will premiere adjacent to VidCon. As Supergravity builds out its library, it is working closely with Vimeo On Demand, with which it struck a four-film deal this past January. We spoke to Benator about Supergravity’s plans, its partnership with Vimeo, and the increasing intertwined media landscape.

From July 23-25, online video creators, fans, and executives will take over the Anaheim Convention Center for the 2015 edition of VidCon. The yearly event dedicated to web video will include dozens of sessions, and several of those presentations will be hosted by Vimeo. The online video platform will run a space called the Vimeo Studio, at which VidCon attendees will be able to recharge their devices, grab some coffee, and attend sessions led by important figures in the web video world.

Back in December 2014, AwesomenessTV debuted its temporary pop-up retail store in Los Angeles called Scene@AwesomenessTV. The YouTube multi-channel network has a new pop-up store, but this time on the East Coast. AwesomenessTV has partnered with New York City’s retail experience company Story to bring digital stars’ personal stories to life for a limited time in a unique, creativity-inspired retail installation.
Story is a company which combines the feel of an art gallery with an editorial, curated shopping experience. The retail/creative establishment switches out its theme every so often, with AwesomenessTV being the latest focus. The two brands’ retail “exhibit” is dubbed Your Story.
As part of the Your Story initiative, which is open from March 9 to April 5, 2015, Story pulled together various products which embody the character of some of AwesomenessTV’s top digital creators. Here’s a full list of creators and their favorite brands highlighted at...

Vimeo has signed a deal with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's New Form Digital Studios that'll "bring two scripted series from YouTube creators exclusively to Vimeo’s on-demand service, with two additional to-be-announced series in development," reports Variety. They've already decided to feature shorts from Sawyer Hartman and Pj Liguori — both popular YouTubers with strong online fan bases. New Form Digital joins creators Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld, who chose to air VOD episodes of their hit web series High Maintenance on Vimeo starting earlier this year. So much streaming!

In October, New Form Digital--the content studio launched by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Discovery Communications--debuted 14 short films, each one helmed by a different YouTube content creator. At the time, New Form Chief Content Officer Kathleen Grace explained the next step was to "turn these projects into series."
For two of the shorts, that goal has now been achieved. New Form has struck a deal with Vimeo that will bring four new series to Vimeo On Demand, including one based on Sawyer Hartman's "Parallax" and another based on Pj Ligouri (aka KickThePJ)'s "Oscar's Hotel."
Parallax and Oscar's Hotel will both run for ten episodes and will pick up where their respective entries in the incubator series left off. Parallax follows a young scientist as he seeks to warn his colleagues about the end of the world, while Oscar's Hotel chronicles the adventures of a young man who...

Sawyer Hartman wants to try his hand at something a little scarier than his normal creations. The YouTuber and filmmaker who boasts over 1.7 million subscribers is making an anthology horror web series. According to StreamDaily, Hartman wants to create six episodes at about 20 minutes each for the first season of the currently unnamed series. He’ll release the first season episodically on his YouTube Channel, and later combine all six into a two-hour feature. He hopes to have the first season take place in a lonely farm house, with possible future seasons set in a remote hotel and hospital. Hartman plans to fund everything himself with the goal of proving the anthology style will work in the digital realm before seeking funds for further seasons. The filmmaker shouldn’t find this too hard to accomplish as the online media masses are already familiar with episodic series like The Lizzie Bennet Diaries...

Earlier this fall, AwesomenessTV announced it was opening a physical store in Los Angeles called Scene@AwesomenessTV. The retail pop-up store had its grand opening on November 15, 2014, complete with merchandise from some of the multi-channel network's top creators like Teala Dunn and Sawyer Hartman. StreamDaily filmed the grand opening of Scene@AwesomenessTV for the benefit of fans who couldn’t attend. The video shows off the store’s products for sale (some which come from the McN’s new movie Expelled), and includes interviews with Dunn, Hartman, AwesomenessTV’s co-founder Joe Davola, and the McN’s global head of consumer products and retail Jim Fielding. “I would say about half the product in the store is either Awesomeness-branded or Awesomeness talent-branded,” Fielding said. He talked about how all the creators meet with Awesomeness in the merchandise creation process, providing their own sketches or photos of merchandise and designing the final...

The Janome Sewing Machine Co.’s 2008 model TB-30 was ahead of it’s time. Its 30 actual stitches, six one-step buttonholes, built-in one-hand needle threader, and laundry list of other features weren’t what set this affordable prosumer tool for the budding fashionista apart from its contemporaries. It was its more superficial accessories. The Janome TB-30 was perhaps the first physical consumer product endorsed, branded, marketed, and promoted by an online video entity. Way back in August 2008, the still independent Next New Networks (which is now the Google-owned YouTube Next Lab) and its “Not Yo Mama’s Diy Channel” Threadbanger (which is still cranking out videos at its home on YouTube) partnered with one of the leading manufacturers of sewing machines worldwide to put their literal stamp of approval on a product and help sell it to their hip, online video savvy, and presumably younger-ish audience. Yes, early-and-mid-to-late 2000s online video...

In April 2014, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer teamed with Discovery Communications to form New Form Digital, a digital studio with a keen interest in YouTube. Two months later, the New Form team began working with YouTube filmmakers on a collection of shorts based around the theme of "curiosity." Now, those shorts--collectively termed the Incubator series--have arrived in their entirety. The "curious" theme is very broad, and the 14 films included in the Incubator series cover a wide range of topics, tones, and filmmaking styles. Some of them come from YouTube filmmakers like Anna Akana and Sawyer Hartman, others are led by comedy channels like 5 Second Films and Poykpac, and a few more come from established vloggers like Joey Graceffa and Craig "Wheezy Waiter" Benzine. The genres on display range from science fiction to romantic comedy to coming-of-age stories. One of the few constants between the 14 short films is YouTuber Mitchell Davis.

Sawyer Hartman is somewhat of a "Renaissance man" on YouTube. Among his talents, he vlogs, he acts, and he directs his own short films. Hartman's latest moviemaking experiment is Welcome To Tokyo, an 11-minute video about a man living in Japan who is trying to evade authorities. Welcome To Tokyo stars YouTuber Vincent Cyr as its protagonist, who believes he is being followed after committing a theft. Other YouTubers, such as Arika Sato and The Fu, also make appearances. Hartman's greatest contribution is his cinematography. There are several dazzling shots, including a final zoom-out that was filmed with a GoPro. Hartman also made used of the Japan-themed sets that Godzilla producer Legendary donated to YouTube Space La. "I’d never really had the opportunity to see what we could create, if we were given more than a week to film it. So we gave ourselves a month," explained Hartman.

On May 16th, Godzilla will invade the Us when a rebooted version of the classic monster flick hits theaters. To prepare, YouTube creators have flocked to YouTube Space La, where film studio Legendary has set up a replica Godzilla set. To take advantage of the monster moviemaking opportunity, YouTube invited 26 channels to film at the set between April 26th and May 8th. Some of these videos have already been released, with each creator putting his or her own spin on the Godzilla mythos. DJ Flula chose to cast himself in the film's trailer, Michelle Phan used it as a backdrop for her latest makeup tutorial, and Anna Akana provided an informative tour of the set. Sawyer Hartman and Arika Sato are among the other creators who have already released videos shot on the Godzilla set. More videos are still to come in the days before the film's release, including entries from Hannah Hart,...

After their original platform of choice suddenly fell apart, YouTube stars and BFFs Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, and Mamrie Hart have found a new home for Camp Takota. The feature-length film will be released through pay-to-view platform Vhx. Camp Takota was first announced at Vidcon, and it was originally attached to Chill. When Chill unexpectedly shuttered its pay-to-view operation in October, Takota was left without a distributor. Enter Vhx. The platform that has previously worked with comedians like Aziz Ansari and Louis C.K. recently raised a hefty sum to launch a self-distribution service, and Camp Takota will be one of that service's most desirable exclusive offerings when it becomes available for preorder on November 29th. Camp Takota will star Helbig, Hart, and Hart as three childhood friends who reunite at their old summer camp. Beyond its three talented leads, Camp Takota will also feature plenty of top YouTube talent: Chester See...

Camp Takota, an upcoming feature film on Chill, will be anchored by established YouTube personalities Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, and Mamrie Hart. While these three leading ladies will already bring a large audience to the film, a few new cast members are adding to the hype. YouTubers Chester See and Sawyer Hartman have joined the project, and both were present during the first day of filming. Both See, who has 1.2 million YouTube subscribers, and Hartman, who has 534,000, have filmmaking experience. See has released a few shorts on his personal channel, and most of Hartman's most popular videos are films he created. Both of their roles are as-of-yet unannounced, but as the filming for Camp Takota began, See gave the ladies a thrill by striking a shirtless pose. Work it, Chester. Camp Takota will star best friends forever Helbig, Hart, and Hart as camp counselors at their former sleep-away stomping grounds.
