Heather Burky
- Producer
- Director
- Cinematographer
Heather was born in Springfield, MO. Her family moved to Florida when
she was eight years old. Growing up in Jacksonville, Fl kept her
isolated from the entertainment industry. It wasn't until she decided
to go back to college at the age of thirty, that she discovered her
love of filmmaking. Throughout college Heather worked full-time, went
to school in the evening and took care of her three small children. She
fell into the role of Producer for most of the school projects, but she
also wrote and directed several of her own projects. Her senior thesis
film was a documentary about Fidel Castro's rise to power in Cuba. She
completed the whole project by herself. Heather entered her documentary
"Lost Country" into the Student Academy Awards competition at the
advisement of her professors. By the end of May 2012, Heather was
notified by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that her
film was a winner. In June 2012, the Academy flew Heather and the nine
other winners to Los Angeles for a week of activities and the awards
ceremony at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Heather continues to write,
produce and direct projects ranging anywhere from short films,
documentaries up to feature films.
