The release was produced by GroovyRoom, the leading producer team and the founders of At Area. HyunA participated in every part of production, from conceptualization to music video planning.
“I’ve wanted to work with GroovyRoom for about 10 years now, and I knew they could help bring my vision to life. I’ve always wanted people to look at me and think ‘she’s great with music.’ I don’t think I’ve ever had that with my songs in the past because I believed that there were two kinds of music: the one that you watch, and the one that you listen to.

Dawn has broken all the K-pop rules. Well, almost all of them. “I want to try getting my nipples pierced,” he tells Rolling Stone over a video call, his smile embellished with a diamond-studded lip ring, “but I’m scared because I recently got a tattoo near my nipple and I went through hell.” Tattoos and piercings are the least of the rapper’s transgressions. For the past five years, in an industry where dating is often contractually forbidden, Dawn has been known as one half of South Korean entertainment...

Six years together may have been too much history to walk away from for K-pop stars HyunA and Dawn. Just two months after HyunA announced via Instagram that she and Dawn had called it quits, ending their engagement, on Nov. 30, 2022, the pair may be back together.
HyunA and Dawn have been through quite a lot over the years in order to be together. The two were first caught up in relationship rumors all the way back in 2018 after being friends and labelmates for years. Shortly after the dating rumors began to build, HyunA and Dawn confirmed their relationship without the approval of their agency, Cube Entertainment. That led to the company ending their contracts, forcing the pair to find another music label that would support their romance. Since then, HyunA and Dawn have each been focusing on their solo careers, and continue to maintain their status as one of K-pop's most adored couples.

“Don’t wait for a special miracle,” Girls’ Generation sang on their 2007 breakout hit “Into The New World.” K-pop stans, the most zealous fans of the genre, are doing their part to help bring miraculous change right now. They deployed the power of the tweet and the force of their numbers to aggressively mobilize against white supremacists and interfere with police surveillance. K-pop fans weaponized their social media presence in support of Black Lives Matter amidst the nationwide protest which followed the killing of George Floyd. The unarmed black man died in police custody last week after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes during an arrest.
The K-pop social media bombardment saw stans take over rightwing and pro-Donald Trump hashtags to drown out racist and offensive posts and criticism of the protests. K-pop fans radicalized on May 31 in response...

Back in May 2018, the K-pop community was shocked to learn that after eight years, Park Jae-Sang — better known by his stage name Psy (often stylized in all capitals) — would be leaving Yg Entertainment. Speculation became reality last week when Psy announced his new entertainment agency, P-Nation. In less then a week of that announcement, his agency has gained a lot of traction by signing on three big names in the industry today: […]

It seems this year has seen many prominent K-pop idols leave their respective entertainment agencies. After nine years, Hyuna departed from Cube Entertainment. Shortly after, E’Dawn of Pentagon would follow as both he and Hyuna would choose love over their former agency’s strict rules on dating. Now another popular K-pop idol has recently left the entertainment agency that made them popular. Hallyu news reports that Zico has officially parted ways with Seven Seas. The entertainment agency would then follow up with a statement providing insight on Block B’s future as Zico was the leader of that boy band. The breaking […]

As the K-pop phenomenon — also known as the Korean Wave or hallyu — sweeps the globe at a unprecedented pace, there’s greater interest among new audiences in how exacting and meticulous the industry can be with its musicians. One illustrative case of that is the firing this week of two stars who breached a tacit rule about romantic relationships.
